How to install fusion 360 on linux

Fusion 360 is a cloud-based 3D modeling, CAD, CAM, and PCB software platform for product design and manufacturing, what you can use on Windows and macOS.

But the problem is that there are also people like me who don’t want to use either of these two operating systems on there systems. Then these users have installed a Linux distribution such as openSUSE Leap, Ubuntu or Fedora.

And so I got the idea to start this project here to find a way to solve this problem.

I started looking at different tools and my choice was Wine!

With this nice tool we don’t need longer two operating systems for Fusion 360, when we will create a fantastic project in the future or if you want to work on a project with other people.

Is that a great idea for the future?

Personally, I think this idea is good and for this reason I will do my best to give you the opportunity to use it on Linux as well!

There are some script releases available, built from the release targets.

It’s recommended that if you’re new you start with the stable builds. Development builds are available here if you need it, but correspondingly may be less stable.

Hardware and Software Requirements

• Internet connection (Cable/DSL speeds recommended)!
• Latest graphics driver, see here!
• The script fails silently on some Linux distributions if the package „dialog» isn’t installed!
• My script install some packages (dialog, p7zip, p7zip-full, p7zip-rar, curl, wget, winbind, cabextract, wine, wine-mono, wine_gecko, winetricks, . )!
• Supported Linux distributions:

2.) Open a terminal and run this command:

1. search fusion 360 in Lutris.

2. Click Install and Next for the consecutive options and then finally Install.

3. Click Install for all “Wine installation permission” window that pops up (like Wine gecko)

4. Wait for a autodesk window to pop up.

How to install fusion 360 on linux

My notes on how to run Autodesk Fusion 360 under Linux (CAELinux 2018 / Ubuntu 16.04 amd64) Procedure adapted from https://gist.github.com/probonopd/0fab254aa0b6fc371d8db641822bd530

OS: CAELinux 2018 / Ubuntu 16.04 amd64

#please note that you need to start with no initial wine config in

/.wine. If not, create a new «prefix» (=config) and set WINEPREFIX=your_path_to_wine_prefix

Graphics driver and Vulkan support (not sure if it is really mandatory. )

#NVIDIA install nvidia proprietary drivers from additionnal drivers, test with version 384 for me #AMD: probably fairly similar, but see online docs to enable Vulkan on recent AMD GPU

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:graphics-drivers/ppa

sudo apt-get update

#This will open the additional driver installer

#and finally vulkan

sudo apt-get install vulkan-utils

#for intel GPU, also install mesa vulkna drivers: sudo apt-get install mesa-vulkan-drivers

install winehg-staging (wine 4.6)

sudo dpkg —add-architecture i386

sudo apt-key add winehq.key

sudo apt-get update

#install winehq staging (4.6 for me)

run script in addition to the start menu entry that is automatically added

Fixing issues with adcefbrowser and online connection:

#- 1. run winecfg, change platform to Win7 for both Default and eventually also adcefbrowser app if specified (see below) In case ofgraphics issues, go to preferences->General and switch from DX11 to DX9
