The printer is an 8600 Pro plus that is working fine. The remote app insists that although the printer that is printing at the moment from the same screen as the remote app is accessed from, that the same printer is offline and the app will not allow me to do anything or tell me anything since the printer that is currently printing via an ethernet connection is offline. Since this «APP» does not appear in programs and features how do I get rid of or fix this piece of trash?

HP All-in-One Printer Remote for Windows lets you access your printers remotely.

Remote printing has changed many businesses for the better. It may seem like a simple thing but really has had a great effect. Offsite employees can now transmit data collected in the field directly to their offices where it can be printed out and otherwise consumed.

HP All-in-One Printer Remote—which was recently renamed to HP Smart—is a remote printing solution that is provided as freeware. Download, install and use it as much as you like with no charge. It may not be as sophisticated as commercial solutions, but it is quite robust and should prove an ample remote printing solution for many individuals and small businesses.

Print jobs can be performed on demand or schedule for a later time or date. You can even monitor toner remotely. There are apps for Windows, Android and Apple smartphones and tablets. Not all devices are supported but most modern ones are. You can even use your smartphone as a scanner that communicates seamlessly with your printer.

HP All-in-One Printer Remote is not limited to physical printers. It can share documents and images through cloud services like Dropbox and Google Drive. It integrates with Facebook and other social media so that you can, for instance, easily post images for clients or employees. All of this works via Wi-Fi, via Wi-Fi Direct or over the Internet.

This program is limited to HP printers. It is understandable to a degree, and it may not matter much to the average home user. The small business user, however, would benefit from the ability to connect to different printers. The option to print to a client’s or vendor’s printer would be nice.

The program is buggy at times. HP manages to work these issues out, but there have been a number of updates pushed that were loaded with bugs. In fact, at the time of this review there was an update causing issues for many users. At one point, HP even blocked non-HP ink cartridges, and while they did walk that back, the fact that did it at all alienated many of the brand’s most loyal users.
