HP SimplePass allows you to safely store logon information for your favorite websites, and use a single method of authentication for your password-protected website accounts. Choose a fingerprint, password, or PIN to authenticate your identity. Your computer must have at least one password-protected Windows User Account to use the software.

Use HP SimplePass to instantly open your web browser and automatically log on to your password-protected website account. You can also use the fingerprint option of HP SimplePass to quickly log on to your Windows User Account.

Scan your fingerprint to enroll it in the tool. Then you can log on to Windows using a fingerprint reader and quickly access your password-protected website accounts. I upgraded fairly successfully to Windows 10 (Pro). Authentec fingerprint reader did not work. I uninstalled old version and tried version 8. This did not work so I uninstalled this, and installed version 6. The fingerprint login works perfectly and, having trawled through my webcards, I am now able once again to log into websites with the fingerprint reader. The reader is aso asking if I wish it to remember my p/ws.

However, I have no simplepass folder in which I kept encrypted, important files. How do I get this back please? I know I can encrypt my harddrive but I would rather just have one encrypted folder? Any suggestions please.

I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP Notebook and having issues with the Biometric Authentication Error.First thing I would check it enable biometric support in this document.

H ere is a download for the Fingerprint scanner for Windows 10. This download sp71729.exe should work for you.

Go to the Control Panel, Programs, HP SimplePass

Scroll down to Enroll Fingerprints. Click and enroll your finger prints. Deleted the old fingerprints in SimplePass and enrolled new ones.

If that does not help I would suggest to uninstall the fingerprint driver or reinstall the upgraded version of the driver and as a last resort installed HP SimplePass and reinstalled the latest version for Windows.

simple pass not working, does not recognise windows password at start to gain access to system, no flashing light, drivers

in software only go to windows 8.1.How do I reset the lot or reinstall simple pass?

Series 8 HP SImplePass program V8.01.46A for Windows 10 is now available:

Driver first, reboot and log in, program second, reboot and log in.

You can likely use your Windows 8.1 Validity Driver.

Why can’t we just use the Windows «Hello» Fingerprint security? It doesn’t make much sense to have to use HP’s software when Win 10 already has software for fingerprint reading built in. I tried SimplePass and had no luck making it work with my Validity 8.1 Driver. It also doesn’t work with Win 10 «Hello» interface.

I think HP needs to release new drivers and software for Windows 10.

The other question I have is, does Simplepass need any other dependent HP software to work? I uninstalled most of the HP Security Tools as Win 10 said it couldn’t upgrade unless I uninstalled them.

follow the instructions for doing it and the reboots and it will work.. i have done a dozen of these now and all working.

tried to download link sp71729,downloads 92mb stops then says failed-network error tried 3 times no luck!

I am losing faith in windows 10, it is not happy with google chrome my preferred browser and has blocked it a few times

I only use desktop so I might go back to windows 8.1. Any further support much appreciated.

I have an HP Elitebook 8760W. I cannot get Simplepass or Windows Hello to recognize my Validity VFM-471 fingerprint reader. I’m not sure I have the right driver installed for the Validity hardware. Could someone please point me to a link for the proper Win 8.1 driver? I’m trying to make this work on Windows Pro 64 Bit.

I have tried everything to make this work. Both Simplepass and Window Hello recognize the fingerprint read while I’m setting it up, but when rebooting and trying to log in with the fingerprint function — it doesn’t act like it is even working.

I’ve tried all of the suggestions on the instructions to no avail. The Laptop works just fine without the fingerprint scanner, and I guess I can live without it, but I’ve been used to using it on Windows 7 for so long, I’d like to have it working agian.

Any suggestions or hellp would be greatly appreciated.

Hello guys Here i found a solution after searching lot of solution

I got it working on my pavilion dv6 6170us

hope this works on all who had this problem

Problems you got : (Windows 10)

My Fingerprint sensor not working on my hp laptop

My Vilidity sensory not recognized my sensor

My biometric sensor not working. cause of drivers

Unable to install the drivers on Finger scanner

the only solution is here 😛

First you need to Enable Biometric from adminstration

1. click on win+R ( this opens Run ) and Enter this code «gpedit.msc» as in screenshot Below

2. This will open Local Group Plolicy Editor

Follow the Screen shots

Double clik on the » Allow the Use of Biometrics «

then enable it -> apply and set ok and close all the windows and reboot the system

Now you are almost done.

Step : 2 ( This is main and the Step 1 too )

1. Click on win+x there select device manager

2. Make sure you should be running this version of validity sensor ( Follow Screen shot below )

If not then Uninstall the drivers and Install them From WIndows update ( not by Hp drivers )

So that windows will install the required files which need

This is because of Windows Hello

Now you are done with is ( you should be sure about these 2 steps else nothing works )

There are 2 options for us to use

1. Winsows Finger Print Scanner

2. Hp Simple Pass

Hope i can tell you one thing that

only one of these options/ software works

2. First i would like to Start from Hp Simple Pass

a. You should not activate the windows Hello

b. Install HP simple Pass for Windows 10 from here ( for me out of many only this worked ) Click here

c. Install and follow the HPSimplePass Instructions and reboot hope everything works fine ( tested and working )

If you activate the Windows Hello Fingerprint, then Simple pass dont open

1. Windows Hello FingerPrint Lock ( i Preffer this because this worked more perfect than simple pass )

a. click win then type «fingerprint» and click on settings as shown on screen shot below

b. When opened to setting First you need to set pin then only Windows Hello will be turned on ( for Fingerprint option to enable)

c. There click on add and Follow the Windows finger print Instructions

and finally you are done

In this case the Hp Simple Pass dont work/ open

If you click on remove then Hp simple pass will work
