Htc m8 windows phone xda

Htc m8 windows phone xda

у меня большая радость. at&t (мой телефонный оператор), наконец-то, добавил в свой ассортимент htc one (m8) for windows.

blackofe,

Mortare,

[Guide]Flashing HTC One M8 for Windows back to Windows Phone 8.1

TheXev

*NOTE*THIS GUIDE WILL NOT LET YOU FLASH AN ANDROID HTC ONE M8 TO WINDOWS. THERE IS NO KNOWN WAY OF DOING THIS AS OF ME WRITING THIS COMMENT */NOTE*

I decided to make this guide because many non-tech/phone people will likely be trying out Windows 10 Mobile 10536 and will run into problems if they upgrade from a previous build, or eventually want to move to a new build.

Had a failure with Windows 10 Mobile? Had a botched update of some kind? As long as you can see the HTC boot screen when you power on your phone, you should be able to reflash your phone back to Windows Phone 8.1 and start over again!
The Windows Phone recovery tool (last I was aware) does not support the Verizon version of the HTC One M8 for Windows, so this method is the ONLY method for restoring the phone back to Windows Phone 8.1.

What you will need:

ACDU (the rom update utility)
Rom for your carrier:

  • Verizon(rom only)
  • AT&T(includes ACDU)
  • T-Mobile(includes ACDU)

USB cable (I recommend using original HTC cable to avoid problems)
Possibly USB drivers (if you don’t have them when you get to the serial=>USB step, read later)
My handy reference video that is a bit old. I recommend watching this video at least ONCE before trying anything!

If you are able to, I recommend performing a backup of your phone before doing flashing any of these roms. Also, you should probably eject your SDcard just to be on the safe side. THIS WILL FACTORY RESET YOUR PHONE . It is my experience that a Windows 10 Mobile backup will restore on a Windows 8.1 Phone. If the phone uses any Authenticators, make sure you unattach those Authenticators from the accounts they are associated with before doing this!

Step 1: Extract ACDU to a folder.

Step 2: Extract your carrier’s rom into the same folder as ACDU

Step 3: Make sure phone is NOT plugged into USB and 100% fully charged! Leave your data cable unplugged at this time!

Step 4: Shut down the phone. If the phone will not shut down because the metro screen will not appear or for for some other reason, ejecting the SIM card tray will normally force the phone to reboot. If that fails, then try holding the power button + vol down for several seconds and this will force the power off.

Step 5: With the phone off now hold both vol buttons, and then press power to power the phone. Keep holding both volume buttons down until you see a white screen with bar codes and your IMEI and other information on. This screen should read «serial» on the bottom (*note* NEVER post a picture of this screen anywhere without blacking out the barcodes and information!).

Step 6A: Plug in your phone to USB. If the prompt at the bottom changes from «serial» to «USB», then proceed to Step 7, otherwise check the Step 6B.
Step 6B: If did not change to the USB prompt, open your PC’s device manager and see if you have an unknown device. If you do see an unknown device: Click on the Start button, then type: «Device installation settings.» Change «Never install driver software from Windows Update» to «Install driver software from Windows Update if it is not found on my computer.» The HTC driver should now download and install. Once you see the «USB» prompt on your phone, you are ready to continue. Change the driver setting back to its default if you have drivers you do not want Windows Update to upgrade.

Step 7: With the USB prompt now displayed, run «ROMUpdateUtility.exe» and select yes at the Admin privileges prompt.

Step 8: Sit back and watch the phone flash the ROM. Once the first phase of the flashing is done, you will see the HTC logo appear, and it will disappear and appear again. The phone should now proceed to boot into Windows Phone 8.1.

As far as the Verizon version of the rom goes, this rom is the shipping rom, so you will need to install all of the updates to have the newest version of Windows Phone 8.1. I recommend installing these updates before attaching a Microsoft account to the phone and restoring a backup. I recommend factory resetting the phone after installing all updates, THEN restoring your backup from your Microsoft account.

I hope this guide will help those avoid some of the pitfalls that comes with testing Windows 10 Mobile!

HTC One (M8) for Windows

Windows joins the HTC One Family

Windows Phone fans, today is the day that you’ve been waiting for since we announced the M8 earlier this year. Introducing the HTC One (M8) for Windows, the first time an iconic flagship device is offered on multiple operating systems – Android and now Windows.

“Consumers love the HTC One (M8) and today’s introduction extends that enthusiasm to new audiences hungry for choice in their mobile experience,” said Jason Mackenzie, President of HTC Americas. “HTC fills a gap in the market for unique devices that put a premium on form and function. Microsoft shares our vision, and that’s why we committed to providing the best experience with the HTC One (M8) on the Windows Phone platform.”

This phone is an M8 in its core, offering the same premium and unique experiences that are standard, including HTC BlinkFeed, HTC BoomSound, Duo Camera with UltraPixel technology, a 5MP wide-angle front-facing camera and support for the HTC Dot View case.

Under the hood is Windows Phone 8.1 Update, which incorporates a host of meaningful innovations:

  • Cortana, Windows’ truly personal digital assistant, makes her HTC debut in this phone. Adept at searching for sushi and setting calendar appointments, Cortana also offers the ability to proactively warn you when it’s time to leave for your next appointment or remind you to pick up milk on the way home.
  • Action Center provides one swipe access to all your recent notifications and messages, as well as programmable quick settings.
  • Apps Corner sandboxes apps and folders into a protected area of the phone and allows users to separate personal and professional information, creating distinct experiences for work and pleasure in a single device.
  • Windows Phone takes on the chores of battery, data and storage management, and keying in passwords for known Wi-Fi networks, allowing users more time to explore the phone’s innovative functionality that truly puts consumer needs first.

Availability
The HTC One (M8) for Windows is available now, exclusively through Verizon Wireless online for $149.99 and will be in stores tomorrow, Aug. 20. Additionally, Microsoft Stores will sell the device with Verizon service and a special offer for a free HTC Dot View Case and screen protector for $25. The retro styling of HTC Dot View, HTC’s intuitive and eye-catching case that shows calls and alerts through a protective shell, is available as an accessory for the HTC One (M8) for Windows.

No information about a release outside the US or Verizon Wireless at this time.

For more information about the HTC One (M8) for Windows, you can visit the HTC Blog and the product page . Feel free to share this information as we’re launching a “Share This: Windows Phone” activity later this morning!

And while you’re at it, check out this beautiful photo album (elevate membership required) with more photos of this stunning device (it is an M8 after all).

Heads up, I found out how to flash Verizon WP8.1 to Android using QPST/QXDM I’ll be uploading files and instructions during the first weekend of February.

Only squeamish part about it is you have to purposely brick your device into QHSUSB_DLOAD mode to do it.

Proof, yeah. That’s why I said I’ll be uploading files and instructions the Second weekend of February like in the post you quoted.

But for the reverse, I don’t have everything I need to test, like an official ruu, but I’m sure it can be done if I had that

I had to brick my device for this process (QHSUSB_DLOAD mode)

I did not «play ?» with QPST while my operating system was in working condition.

I would probably ask a mod to move your post to Q&A

I’ve attached 2 of the diagnostics XAP ripped directly from the M8 for Windows:

First is the CSDDiag, followed by the DiagnosticTool.

The DiagnosticTool requires an unlock code to edit anything, anyone know what it is?

Yes I figured it out on my own lol. Most of the settings to edit are useless. I’m only hoping for exploits on the HTC Diagnosis apps

Quick question. If I flash a AT&T ROM to my Verizon M8, will it brick my device? If it doesn’t, will I be able to use AT&T LTE bands?

And is there any way of finding working QPST drivers for the M8 for Windows?

Decompiling the DiagnosticTool is pretty interesting! Nothing I’ve found yet that would enable interop-unlock, but it’s worth continuing to look.

It does appear to support switching modem/USB modes, implying that it could enable wired tethering. While less convenient that wireless tethering, wired tethering keeps the phone charged at the same time and (more interestingly) often does not register as tethering for users who have no tethering plan or have a cap on tethered data.

I confirmed later in that thread that the rom indeed does work(on the Verizon version of the phone) with normal flashing, I also uploaded a youtube video of it. If you need anyone else willing to risk their Windows M8, I’m more then happy to to try this method for converting the phone back and forth!

My only concern with moving between Windows and Android would be whether the IMEI, etc, would be preserved. Under Windows, there is no way to repair the IMEI. under Android, it’d be easy to fix.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2226445 is where I found them, but I have no clue how to use them. These drivers appear to only work when the phone is bricked. I’m still reading this thread.. it is highly technical.

*edit* after some extensive searching on the subject, the best drivers I found are here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=58145465&postcount=48. I have no clue how to use them on the M8, as it downloads default drivers automatically in Windows (and nothing in the package seems compatible). I don’t intend to try and activate DLOAD mode to find out (at this time). lol

Not sure if this is a dead thread.
I currently own the M8 AT&T WP variant, but has anyone successfully accomplished this in reverse with the Andriod Variant M8. Or, would there be a discussion where I could take a look at some additional information regarding QHSUSB_DLOAD. I have spent the past couple of years invested in Windows Devices and am slowly building an understanding of how compiling a Windows 10 Mobile OS works now. Many Android platforms use the same System on Chips as other Windows Mobile OS platform devices, like the 810 MSM8994, 808 MSM8992, or 801 MSM8974xx SoC. Xiaomi obviously partnered with Microsoft to release a W10 mobile ffu for their Android device Mi4 LTE. I would like to attempt at putting together a test build of a W10 mobile image to potentially flash to one of the above mentioned SoCs for an Android Platform setup. Or, potentially use an already existing ROM for Windows Mobile.

I have read a tutorial on another site about bricked OPO devices using QHSUSB_DLOAD and/or emergency com ports, to rebuild the phone back to its original state. So it would not surprise me if sooner than later Dual Boot and or Cross-platform devices start becoming more apparent.
