IBM Thinkpad T60 и Windows 10

Решил обновить вручную Windows 8.1 на Windows 10 на своем “динозавре” Thinkpad T60 с видеокартой ATI Mobility Radeon X1300. Автоматическое обновление забраковало видеокарту ATI X1300, последние официальные драйвера для которой были выпущены еще для Windows Vista.

Обновился до 10-ки с загрузочной флэшки, раздобыл драйвер от Dell для ATI Mobility Radeon X1300, который некоторым удалось завести под Windows 10. Удивительно, но он заработал. Фокус ожидал после перезагрузки – система зависала сразу после ввода пароля пользователя, пробовал создать нового пользователя – эффект тот же. Опыты показали, что при возврате видеодрайвера на “родной” (с которым тормозит даже перемещение окон) проблема исчезает. Вылечить удалось только полным сбросом Windows 10 с удалением всех приложений и данных, после чего драйвер заработал без проблем.

Когда-то я обновлялся с Windows 7 на Windows 8 и тоже были проблемы с этой видеокартой, но подошел драйвер от Vista(!), аппаратное декодирование видео и 3Д работало, не работали только игры от Microsoft (пасьянс, сапер и пр.). Сейчас также не работают.

Итого: полет нормальный, единственная потеря, относительно Windows 8/8.1, это отсутствие Lenovo Power Manager (шикарная программа, продлевающая жизнь батареи путем оптимизации циклов заряд/разряд). Впоследствии виновник найден — Lenovo On Screen Display из набора Thinkpad Hotkey Features.

Классический бизнес-ноутбук в современном исполнении: Lenovo ThinkPad T60

С момента приобретения компанией Lenovo Group «ноутбучного» бизнеса IBM прошло чуть больше года. За это время новый хозяин бренда ThinkPad успел сделать многое: выпустил на мировой рынок портативные и настольные ПК собственной разработки, выступил спонсором Олимпийских игр, а также в этом году представил обновлённую линейку ноутбуков на базе двухъядерных процессоров Intel Core Duo. С одним из этих мобильных компьютеров, а именно Lenovo ThinkPad T60, нам и предстоит сегодня познакомиться.

Надо сказать, что многие пользователи и журналисты опасались негативных последствий «сделки года», ведь ноутбуки ThinkPad традиционно считаются самыми консервативными на рынке, за что их и любит большинство бизнес-пользователей. По сути, ThinkPad в бизнес-среде стал чем-то вроде продолжения делового костюма. И вполне понятны опасения, что «смена портного» может не слишком хорошо отразиться на имидже. Попытаемся выяснить, как всё обстоит на самом деле.

Внешний вид

На первый взгляд дизайн в новой линейке остался без изменений – всё тот же «радикально-чёрный» цвет, тот же ярко-красный Trackpoint, тот же матовый пластик. В общем, в Lenovo не стали отпугивать потенциального покупателя, ведь поклонниками ThinkPad всегда являлись наиболее консервативные пользователи, и разного рода эксперименты с внешностью ноутбуков вряд ли пришлись бы им по вкусу. Скажем больше – на месте остался даже логотип, это всё тот же красно-сине-зелёный шильдик IBM, расположенный в правом нижнем углу крышки и корпуса.

As lead_org said, you need the Intel Chipset Support or «Intel Chipset Device Software», as Intel calls it. The Intel Chipset Device Software should not be installed after other drivers have been installed. This is a link to the corresponding readme file on Intel’s site:

Please do also observe this instruction from that readme file:

7. It is recommended that the Intel(R) Chipset Device Software
be installed onto the target system prior to the
installation of other drivers.

Therefore, as you have already installed other drivers, i suggest that you format the partition, which now contains Windows XP, and then re-install Windows XP according to the instructions that ThinkVantage Access Help offers.

Be careful !! I was having the same problem and decided to use ThinkVantage System update 3.14. It did many updates and at the end it updated my BIOS. During the process of updating the bios I got a blue screen and now I have a bricked T60.
