The CheckM8 software can bypass Activation Lock on supported Macs. But it will not unlock your computer. While the bypassing and unlocking seem to be related terms, they do not mean the same thing.
Apple introduced Activation Lock for its MacOS computers so that users could prevent third-party access to their device. When you turn on a Mac, it communicates with Apple servers to ensure everything is ok.
Suppose Find My option is turned on your computer. The checking will show it and prevent the loading by displaying the Activation Lock screen.
