  To begin, the program has been entirely rewritten in C++ , thus the .NET Framework is no more needed. Then, Flyakite told me how to do to take in count the changes to the folder immediately , you don’t need anymore to refresh Explorer view to see the new color or icon of a folder.

  Finally, about the skins, the Vista skin has been updated, with the help of Nobo. The SnowE2 skin has been removed from the default pack, and been replaced by the gorgeous Agua skin, made by Ced with David Lanham’s icons.

  Конечно, на папки можно установить иконки, но в случае, когда вам нужно выделить определенную группу папок, вы же не станете устанавливать одну иконку на все эти папки? В таком случае получится, что вы еще более себя запутаете. А с цветовым выделением – все гораздо проще.

  Структурирование и разделение разных типов файлов по папкам с различными цветами – это одно применение. Второе, например, это если вы работаете на одном компьютере с несколькими коллегами. В таком случае, можно выделить свои папки, например, синим, и условится, что папки синего цвета удалять и вообще трогать нельзя. Как пример, но может быть очень актуально.

  После установки iColorFolder она интегрируется с проводником Windows. Для того,чтобы назначить цвет папки вам всего-навсего в контекстном меню, по щелчку правой кнопкой мыши, нужно выбрать пункт, соответствующий iColorFolder и указать нужный цвет. После этого папка перекрасится.

  iColorFolder future development

  As you may have noticed, iColorFolder didn’t have much activity in the past two years. I didn’t followed the projet, partly because I kept Windows XP (instead of Vista, so no work on Vista compatibility), partly because I work on a Mac for one year.

  So this is time to move along. iColorFolder has always been Open Source, but maybe it needs to be more developer-friendly to attract the patches and bugfixes. To be started, I just set up an SVN repository, that contains all iCF source-code. You can checkout the most recent sources at :

  That said, I’m still looking for maintainers that would keep the projet alive — and maybe make some improvements. I will be in Togo for the next seven months, starting from the 28th october ; so I won’t be able to manage the website, nor the forums or the SVN access rights ; it will also be difficult to me to publish new builds if improvements are made. For now, the project would need :

  • a maintainer : that would mean manage the bug tracking system, patches, and issue new releases when the program has reached a stable state.
  • one or more developers : there isn’t a lot to maintain, iCF is a quite small program, but some things would be great, first of all a Vista compatibility (which is probably just a matter of bugfix).

  Of course these three functions can be merged : if someone want to be admin, manager and developer, I’ll be more than happy.

  Программа iColorFolder предназначена для лёгкой и быстрой смены цвета значков
  папок, для замены внешнего вида всех папок. Добавляется пункт в контекстное меню
  папок. Программа полностью бесплатная. Скины меняются путём замены dll
  (подробнее смотрите папку skins) в директории установки программы.

  Аддон iColorFolderFull (SVCPACK — версия), описание:

  Для интеграции в дистрибутив используйте пакет обновлений UpdatePack-XPSP3-Rus, распаковав
  содержимое архива в папку Addons. Тип интеграции — SVCPACK, возможна установка на «живую»
  систему. Установка: %Program Files%\iColorFolder. Создаются ярлыки: «Изменить ЦВЕТ ПАПКИ»,
  «Удалить iColorFolder» в главном меню\Программы\Утилиты\iColorFolder. Реализована возможность
  добавления пользовательских ярлыков на рабочий стол и в панель быстрого запуска. Для этого
  открываем ColorF.exe архиватором 7-Zip версии 9.04 beta и выше и редактируем файл ColorF.inf,
  раскомментировав необходимую строку в секции [DefaultInstall] (убираем символ «;» в начале строки).
  Предусмотрена возможность удаления программы через апплет «Установка и удаление программ» или
  из главного меню. Перед удалением, если хотите видеть привычные для Windows XP папки, необходимо
  вернуть из меню программы стандартный цвет папок. Все добавленные ярлыки удаляются при
  деинсталляции. Всего доступно 17 тем: CrystalXP, Leopard2, XPlastic, VirtualFolder, Vista, VistaGlass,
  VistaGlossy, VistaGreen, WindowsXP, Agua, Aqueous,Cameleon, Gant2, icOSX,, MacOSX,, Nuvola, Snow.E2.
