problems with Intel 4965agn wifi card — Windows 10 Pro

I recently upgraded from Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 Pro. Sony Vaio VGN-FZ290 laptop. The machine went through the Microsoft testing OK prior to the update. After update I am getting periodic blue screens with error «IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQ. «

Also, now am unable to access network drives from this computer. I receive error message for this that «one or more network protocols is missing from this computer.»

I have tried all suggested fixes for these problems already on the forum. I believe the problem is the driver for the Intel WiFi card 4965agn. There is no Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 driver for this card that I can find.

Anyone have any other suggestions? Thank you!

I would appreciate if you can provide us the following information to help us understand the issue better.

• After upgrading to Windows 10, did you update all the drivers?
• Did you install all the pending windows updates?
• Are you using any third party anti-virus software?
• Are you able to get to the desktop screen?

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, this error might be caused by a device driver, a system service, a virus scanner, or a backup tool that is incompatible with the new version.

Unplug all external devices like printer, flash drive, scanner etc., (except mouse and keyboard) connected to the computer and restart the system to get to the desktop screen. Once you are on the desktop screen ensure to install any pending updates and also update all device drivers from Device Manager. Do remember to restart the computer once this is done.

You may install all the pending updates and check if it helps.

The error » one or more network protocols are missing on this computer» might occur if the drivers are corrupted, incompatible and outdated.

If you can’t connect to a network, there might be a problem with your network adapter, the piece of hardware that makes it possible for your PC to connect to a network.

I suggest you to run these networking commands in a command prompt window and check if it resolves the issue.

1. Right click on Start and select Command Prompt (Admin).

2. At the command prompt, run the following commands in the listed order, and then check to see if that fixes your

Type netsh winsock reset and press Enter.

Type netsh int ip reset and press Enter.

Type ipconfig /release and press Enter.

Type ipconfig /renew and press Enter.

Type ipconfig /flushdns and press Enter.
