Graphic Drivers — Intel HD 4000

Today I’ve installed Linux Mint 16 x64 and I’ve got problem with graphics in Europa Universalis IV (runs natively on Linux via Steam). Windows version runs great.
How can I check which drivers I’ve got installed or install newest?

My graphic card: Intel HD 4000.

P.S.: Mint 16 is based on Ubuntu 13.10. There was a release for U13.10 on 10 FEB 2014 (v. 1.0.4) — you might try that one.

Do you know how to clone an image of your HD using Clonezilla or something similar? If so and you’re feeling adventurous. you could clone your installation and then throw caution to the wind. you could proced with the installation even though isn’t supported (if the install routine will let you) and see what happens. alternatively, you could try to upgrade your kernel. Dont try either without having a good backup (clone) in place. either could render your system unbootable. but might work.

. otherwise, wait for other wisdom from the forum.

Проблемы с подключением телевизора по hdmi. Ноутбук Samsung np350e5c, встроенная Intel HD Graphics 4000 Телевизор Philips 40pfl5507t До этого стояла ubuntu 14.04, все работало отлично. Решил повысить, начиная с ubuntu 15 все перестало работать, 16 не работает, debian не работает, сейчас поставил последний минт — тоже проблемы. Что-то такое приключилось в последних версиях. Все исправно, при загрузке win7 все нормально. В настройках дисплея телевизор видно, в режиме 1920х1080 как доп монитор не работает, начиная с 1600х1200 и ниже картинка появляется, но иксы зависают, да так, что приходится перезагружаться через вторую консоль. После перезагрузки на телевизоре видно логскрин, после входа в систему картинка пропадает (нет сигнала). А чем тебя 14.04 не устраивает?

Захотелось сменить рабочий стол. Больше нравится mint или debian. Да и вообще интересно разобраться с проблемой.

посмотри в другом DE, может корица что-то мудрит,
а так лучше вот эту поставь прогу arandr (Another XRandrR GUI)
и через нее попробуй найти мониторы, если не наладится, надо думать.

Вопрос решился очень странно — уменьшив разрешение дисплея ноутбука до 1200х720 стал доступен телевизор. В чем связь не понятно.

В какой версии ядра появилась поддержка? Кто-нибудь пробовал уже это под Linux? Как впечатления? Всё работает также из коробки как и раньше? Думаю обойтись без дискретной карты, по характеристикам вроде ничего.

Это тянет что угодно, даже intel hd graphics 3000.

Там уже есть хардварный декодинг?

я на ней сидел максимум день.. у меня просто gtx560Ti 448Cores

Не знаю, как с HD4000, но поддержка безнаденжно устаревшего HD3000 до сих пор на троечку. Есть куча известных проблем, которые штеуд не торопмтся устранять.

Имею HD4000 в составе платформы на ivy bridge: i7 3770, h77 asus. Предполагал, что смогу отказаться от дискретной NVidia вместе с апгрейдом. Не получилось. Sauerbraten на старой нвидиа 7900GS гораздо лучше бегает. А видео и там, и там играет нормально.

Кто нибудь пробывал играть HD, как оно дружит с XBMC? Как там с проигрыванием HD видео? Интересует именно аппаратная поддержка. Нет ли артефактов при использовании VA-API. У меня на AMD карточках, какой-то ненормальный деблокниг с артефактами 🙁 а на nvidia все отлично, сглаживаются даже те артефакты, что видны на проигрывании силами cpu, т.е. у nvidia еще и дополнительная постобработка есть. Если кто спросит, а зачем VA-API когда CPU все могет, то у меня ноут играет роль еще и медицентра, когда CPU не загружен ноут тихий и холодный. Сейчас в нем GPU от nvidia, но хочу купить новый, выбор стоит между предложением с HD4000 или G620m, а в игры я не играю, хочется выбрать что дешевле.

I am making a separate discussion for this issue as recommended by the OP of the Known Bug List.

System: i5, HD 4000, Ubuntu 13.4, all settings on low.
1.Framerate drops to zero every few seconds. It sounds as though I am still controlling the character when the screen stops responding. The framerate will pick back up after a few seconds and act like this cyclically.
2. There is tearing and artifacting occuring on the Main Character’s face.

gbrown, same problems. Disabling AA, Shadows and other effects helps to solve most of the freezes, but framerate is still crappy:( And yes, face textures are also smashed.

Ubuntu 12.04.
OpenGL vendor string: Intel Open Source Technology Center

Already mentioned it in the other topic, but yeah, me too.
Intel i7 w/ HD 4000, running on Ubuntu 12.10

With the graphics settings turned all the way down, the artifacting doesn’t appear nearly as often, but the framerate drops and the screen not responding still makes the game unplayable for me.

I decided to upgrade my system to the Linux Mint 15 RC, rather than Ubuntu 13.04.
Brutal Legend seems to be getting slightly better performance under Cinnamon than it did under Unity, but that might also just be a result of newer drivers, or something else.

But the game is still unplayable for me.
Kind of a shame too considering my system actually exceeds what is listed as the reccomended specs for Linux on the store page.

OS: Linux Mint 15 (64-bit)
Processor: Intel i7 3630QM CPU (2.4 GHz, quad core w/ hyperthreading)
Memory: 16 GB of RAM

question did u happen to install 3ddri i know intel cards dont do st3c texture compression by default and needs to be enabled 9 times out of 10 the app will stop u from luaching but games that dont you will get strange behavor. MIssing textures lower framerate

I’m not seeing any package labeled as «3ddri» in my package manager, though there are dri-related packages that are installed.

I’m pretty sure I have it, considering every other game I’ve attempted to play on this machine runs on a decent framerate and without any real issues. TF2, Serious Sam 3, Killing Floor, Psychonauts, etc. all work great. Brutal Legend is the only one I’ve tried where I’m getting these framerate drop and artifacting issues.

Has the game been optimized to run on Intel HD Graphics on Linux? Can I hope for a patch? I’d love to play this game but for now this is the only (working) computer I own.

Sorry for probably silly question but I couldn’t find answer anywhere else on this forum. Hope someone can help

System: Linux Mint 18
VGA: Intel HD4000
How to find Display adapter settings? I can’t find them. The «display» tab shows only resolution and rotation parameters. Where is the rest? refresh rate, color enhancement etc.
And btw, Intel Graphics Installer for Linux doesn’t work for me, shows that this version is not supported so I’m not even sure what Intel driver is installed.

The Intel Graphics Installer not only doesn’t work at all for Mint 18/ubuntu 16.04, it usually doesn’t work on older linux releases either. Drivers in linux work differently from windows and dl’ing drivers from a manufacturer’s site is not a good idea. It only generally works for bleeding edge cards and even then it’s not reliable enough to try it blindly.

Intel does not do binary drivers that you’ll find in the Mint Driver Manager. The open source one is the correct one. To see which card/driver it is copy/paste this into the terminal:

That explains a lot. Now I know why my discrete VGA in laptop nvidia geforce 740M has drivers installed properly and usable, while HD4000 not.
Unfortunately my laptop is connected via HDMI to 55″ LCD and screen tearing and colors are just horrible without anyway to adjust it.

Too bad that Intel company doesn’t care much about their driver support for linuxmint
