Is it possible to run Windows 10 on Gen 2 Core i5-2400 processor?

I have a Lenovo M91p with Windows 7 I want to upgrade to Windows 10. It has a Core i5-2400 processor that Intel does not show as compatible. Similarly, Lenovo does not list the M91p as compatible with Windows 10.

I tried installing Windows 10 and it was not stable, so I returned to Windows 7.

Is it possible to run Windows 10 on this processor? If so, how?

If not, I guess my options are to replace the processor or buy a new PC, which is unfortunate, as the machine is otherwise capable of running 10 just fine.

Its possible you might have to perform a clean install then install the drivers manually.

I would backup first then perform a clean install using the Windows 10 ISO:

After Installing Windows 10

I would try obtaining the latest important drivers and save them to a USB thumbdrive in advance: Chipset, Network, Video.

I started with a clean installation of Windows 10 and then ran Lenovo’s update tool, which I assumed updated all drivers. The system ran unreliably, with intermittent blue screen issues, so I went back to Windows 7.

My question is specific to the CPU in my PC, which is an Intel Core i5-2400. The Intel site does not list it as compatible with Windows 10:

Similarly, Lenovo does not list my PC (ThinkCentre M91p) as compatible with Windows 10.

I don’t understand why, and am wondering what the issue may be and whether there is a solution to allow updating this PC to Windows 10.

The model processor should not be a problem.

How will I know if my computer can run Windows 10?

If you want to upgrade to Windows 10 on your PC or tablet, here’s what it takes.

Latest OS: Make sure you are running the latest version either Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8.1 Update.

Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster processor or SoC

RAM: 1 gigabyte (GB) for 32-bit or 2 GB for 64-bit
Hard disk space: 16 GB for 32-bit OS 20 GB for 64-bit OS
Graphics card: DirectX 9 or later with WDDM 1.0 driver
Display: 1024×600

How much actual free disk space is required by Windows 10 setup?

Windows 10 uses approximately 10 GBs of disk space. The minimum disk space available is to facilitate the installation process. Some install files are compressed and need to be expanded during setup. Some files are temporary and are deleted during or after installation. Also, because you might have data and apps on the hard disk, they will be moved around during migration.
