Установка Internet Explorer 9, 8, 7 и 6 в Linux

серия веб-разработчики и дизайнеры им приходится тестировать свой код во всех возможных браузерах, в том числе, к сожалению, в различных версиях Internet Explorer.

Простой способ установить последние версии браузера компании Redmond на Linux использует сценарий, написанный Грегом Торнтоном. Следует уточнить, что это установка в VirtualBox, поэтому перед использованием сценария нам потребуется установить и настроить программное обеспечение виртуализации. Конечно, благодаря сценарию мы можем установить разные версии браузера без необходимости покупать лицензию операционной системы, в которой они выполняются, поскольку они являются пробными версиями, не говоря уже о том, что это делает эту задачу чрезвычайно простой.

Примечание. Одним из недостатков, который может заставить многих подумать дважды об использовании сценария, является то, что размер установки (из 4-х версий браузера) примерно не пренебрежимо 50GB.

Установка

Перед запуском скрипта мы должны убедиться, что у нас установлены cURL и unRAR, а также VirtualBox. Если они уже есть на нашей машине, нам просто нужно ввести команду в консоли:

Если мы не хотим устанавливать все версии IE, мы можем указать, какие версии подходят. Для установки, например, версий 8 и 9 мы должны использовать:

Как только скрипт завершит свою работу — что может занять несколько часов в зависимости от скорости нашего соединения — нам нужно будет установить гостевые дополнения VirtualBox для правильной работы виртуальных машин. Когда у нас все настроено правильно, будет достаточно выбрать виртуальную машину (версия IE), которую мы хотим запустить, и запустить ее.

Каждые 30 дней нам придется возвращать виртуальную машину в исходное состояние, что очень просто благодаря моментальному снимку, который создается автоматически после установки.

Как установить Internet Explorer в Ubuntu (Gutsy Gibbon, Feisty Fawn, Edgy Eft и Dapper Drake)

Эта статья показывает как установить Internet Explorer трех разных версий (6.0, 5.5 и 5.0) в Ubuntu Feisty Fawn, Edgy Eft и Dapper Drake (проверено также в Gutsy Gibbon). 1 Вступительные заметки

Существует пакет названный IEs4Linux который позволяет легко установить 3 версии Internet Explorer на вашу Linux систему. В этой статье я покажу как его исользовать.

Но перед началом вам следует сначала прочесть эту страницу: http://www.tatanka.com.br/ies4linux/page/Legal_notices. IEs4Linux — GPL програмное обеспечение, но Internet Explorer не является таковым, это проприетарное ПО со своей собственной лицензией. И если вы хотите установить Internet Explorer на вашу Linux систему, у вас должна быть действующая лицензия Microsoft Windows, иначе установка Internet Explorer будет нелегальной.

2 Правка /etc/apt/sources.list

Для установки IEs4Linux, мы должны внести изменения в /etc/apt/sources.list.

2.1 Ubuntu Feisty Fawn

В Ubuntu Feisty Fawn, у нас должны быть строки deb de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu feisty universe и deb wine.budgetdedicated.com/apt edgy main (да, edgy правильно, т.к. этот репозиторий еще пока не имеет паетов для Feisty, но к счастью папеты для Edgy также работаюти в Feisty) в /etc/apt/sources.list:

sudo vi /etc/apt/sources.list

Затем надо выполнить команду:

sudo apt-get update

для обновления базы пакетов.

2.2 Ubuntu Edgy Eft

В Ubuntu Edgy Eft, у нас должны быть строки deb de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu edgy universe и deb wine.budgetdedicated.com/apt edgy main в /etc/apt/sources.list:

sudo vi /etc/apt/sources.list

sudo apt-get update

для обновления базы пакетов.

2.3 Ubuntu Dapper Drake

В Ubuntu Dapper Drake, у нас должно быть: deb de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu dapper universe и deb wine.budgetdedicated.com/apt dapper main in /etc/apt/sources.list:

sudo vi /etc/apt/sources.list

sudo apt-get update

для обновления базы пакетов.

3 Установка wine и cabextract

Следующее что нам надо установить wine and cabextract например так:

sudo apt-get install wine cabextract

Если у вас спросили об установке этих пакетов без подтверждения ответьте положительно
(Install these packages without verification [y/N]?)

# sudo apt-get install wine cabextract

4 Установка IEs4Linux

Для запуска приложений, изначально разработанных для ОС Windows, в Linux используется Wine .

Wine lets you run Windows software on other operating systems. With Wine, you can install and run these applications just like you would in Windows.

Wine is still under active development. Not every program works yet, however there are already several million people using Wine to run their software.

Как правило, чтобы запустить под Wine програмное обеспечение, созданное для Windows — чистого Wine не хватает, обязательно понадобятся дополнительные шрифты и библиотеки.
Скажем, установка графической библиотеки DirectX под Wine далеко не всегда проходит гладко. а есть еще windows-шрифты, NET Framework, библиотеки MS Visual Basic и т.д.

Облегчить работу по установке всего этого добра вам поможет скрипт Winetricks, с помощью которого установка дополнительных библиотек и шрифтов к Wine становится очень простой.

Итак. Прежде всего, разумеется, нам понадобится Wine.
А также — пакет cabextract .
Устанавливаем стандартным способом, из репозитория вашего дистрибутива.

Установили? забираем последнюю версию winetricks, нажав правой кнопкой мыши на ссылку — Сохранить.

После того, как скрипт окажется на вашем компьютере, попросту выполните

, запустится графический интерфейс со списком доступных пакетов:

Выбираем, предположим, Internet Explorer и устанавиваем:

Вообщем-то, и все. по окончании инсталляции (в ходе которой вам будет предложено установить, в частности, Gesko — соглашайтесь) вы получите синтаксис запуска установленного приложения:

Введите команду — и Internet Explorer ваш:

Wine is available for install from the Mint repositories, and will run some Windows programs. According to this page:

some versions of Internet Explorer will run in Wine, but poorly.

I have to second Pjotr’s question: why would you want to? There are plenty of other browsers available that do run (flawlessly) in Linux: Firefox, Midori, Opera, Chromium, Chrome, and others. If you have a specific site that requires Internet Explorer, oftentimes that can be overcome by installing a User Agent Switcher plugin in Firefox or other browsers. That will tell the website that it is Internet Explorer, and usually that’s good enough.

I cannot tell you how to install Internet Explorer in Mint (nor can I tell you how to install the proverbial mammary glands on a boar hog ). But I can state that if you only need a Microsoft OS version of a (as in, «any») web browser to successfully install in Mint, you could try the process that is explained here:

That will install «Netflix Desktop» on your computer. Which is actually the Microsoft OS version of Firefox (along with a custom version of Wine and possibly some other stuff). It defaults to a full-screen interface with Netflix as the home page, so you’d have to do some minor configuring, but it is a fully-functioning Firefox — I have opened a new tab and used it for general web browsing just to see if I could.

Netflix was the only thing (that I have personally encountered) that I couldn’t access via the linux version of Firefox, and it turns out that I haven’t even needed it for that for some time (I’m just a bit lazy ). I don’t even need it to use Amazon’s Prime video service — I access that via the «linux» Firefox (although if I wish to get what is supposed to be «a better viewing experience» through Pipelight (think Silverlight, or whatever it’s called), I’ll have to configure it to pretend to be Microsoft’s IE by using the trick that jimallyn mentioned).

I also follow the «Why».

There do exist rumors, that IE will get replaced by a new browser named «Spartan». (Sorry, at now I only know a German source for this.) So even if IE under wine should do what you expect, it seems to be a dying horse.

Further more, there is not only the question of how to install, but also the question how to get it updated with security patches (at least so far, as MS has made patches available).
But if I read, that you not only want to get out some mysterious reason IE, but especially the old IE 7 or IE 8, which both are definitely dead, it sounds, as if you search a way for installing known vulnerabilities in Linux. Even by installing Windows in a virtual machine both versions of IE are outdated.

Hm, websites, which get in 2015 still «developed» (Ha ha) for obsolete browsers / OSs (IE 7 & 8 sound as XP) are IMHO as obsolete as those products (and IMHO candidates for mintNanny or similar).

BTW, as those browsers are part of their respective Windows version and licensed with a valid Windows license, it is necessary to have a free Windows license (not installed on any physical or virtual machine) for installing them. So, why one wants to install them — if at all doable successfully — in wine instead a virtual (or physical) machine is over my head. Installed via wine for «developing» purposes would not even be suitable to see, if a visitor with such a museum browser gets, what he is supposed to get.

Yep, I totally agree with you, I’m against the fact we should still support those old browsers but believe me, some people or companies still need their websites / web applications to work with IE8. Just as an example, I work in a big company, and maybe nearly one year ago we were still using IE6 . Just due to the fact we have specifics apps that needed to be adapted. In the meantime It fortunately changed, and I believe the IT service moves their asses due to the fact the support on XP was about to end. However you are right, It’s more common to see requirements to make it working with IE9 but not under, nowadays.

Finally I was just trying to find an explanation of why he wants to install these olds browsers.

There are business entities which run unsupported web browsers that don’t (and, I’m assuming, haven’t for some time) receive security updates? Are these computers adequately firewalled/sandboxed or completely prevented from accessing the Internet (perhaps existing only on those businesses’ local networks)? Otherwise. I’m surprised that the people using those computers haven’t powered them up one morning to be met with something like this:
