Coriolis Systems

From 2004 through to 2019, Coriolis Systems was a software company that supplied Mac utility software, including its award-winning iPartition partitioning tool and iDefrag disk optimizer, as well as a handful of other products including VMOptimizer , Zipster and a real time AC-3 compatible encoder, Aura . This used to be its website.

History

Coriolis Systems was founded by Alastair Houghton back in 2004, who had left his job around a year earlier to write the company’s first product, iPartition, after becoming annoyed that he couldn’t repartition his new laptop to install developer versions of Mac OS X without wiping it clean.

He went on to develop iDefrag, in part to work around a limitation of the original version of iPartition, then hired Chris Suter, who was responsible for adding a number of features to the products (most notably, NTFS support, reboot-and-defragment mode in iDefrag and a new data movement algorithm for iPartition that was more efficient and enabled the unique recoverability feature in that product).

Alastair hired James Snook, and subsequently Ed Warrick and Mark Steadman, to help with the growing support load and to help maintain the software. James, Ed and Mark also worked on some internal projects and a couple of things that, sadly, have still to see the light of day.

The team at Coriolis kept iDefrag and iPartition working across multiple major system updates, from 10.3 to 10.13, and across the PowerPC/Intel switchover (which was rather more work than just clicking a button and rebuilding); we worked around some nasty bugs in Mac OS X, and indeed in third-party hardware and device drivers; and all the while we tried hard to answer support queries promptly, professionally and courteously.

Changes to the Mac, beginning with the adoption of SSDs, saw sales of the company’s core products, iDefrag in particular, enter a slow decline. The final nails in the coffin were the decision of Apple to switch to its new filesystem, APFS, the volume format for which was totally undocumented until the week before macOS Mojave shipped, and the increasingly draconian security controls that made it harder for third-party utility software to function in a manner end users would find acceptable. In early 2019, Alastair finally took the decision to shut down the company he’d founded nearly 15 years previously.

Below you can find copies of Coriolis Systems’ software, together with working license keys. Hopefully this will prevent the work we did at Coriolis from disappearing altogether.

Please note: the current version of iPartition does not fully support Mac OS X Yosemite , nor does it feature support for Core Storage (the subsystem behind File Vault and the Fusion Drive). You will need a separate boot device — for non-Yosemite systems, this could just be a Flash drive, which you can set-up with the Create Boot Disk feature in iPartition. For Yosemite systems, presently you will need an external disk with another install of Mac OS X.

iPartition for Mac makes it easy to create, destroy, resize or format partitions on your hard disks, whether internal, external, fixed or removable.

⚠ Note: This product is not developed anymore and might not function properly.

With iPartition for macOS, resizing a partition is as simple as selecting it, grabbing the resize handle and dragging. Not only that, but if you have several operations to perform, the program lets you queue them up and run them one after another, so you can have a cup of coffee whilst the tool works. This feature, coupled with the app’s ability to automatically rearrange your existing partitions when asked to expand a partition, makes the program the easiest disk partitioning tool that you’ll ever use.

Nor does iPartition‘s ease-of-use come at the expense of power users; the app’s Partition Map window, coupled with the Inspector, provides total flexibility, even allowing users to edit flags in the partition table, edit the partition type directly, or move or resize partitions accurately anywhere on the disk.

Features and Highlights

Filesystem support
The app fully supports HFS, HFS+, FAT and NTFS out of the box. It also knows the correct partition types for a whole load more, though it can’t format them or non-destructively resize them.

Repartition without reformatting
Want to change the size of a partition that’s currently full of data? The program supports non-destructive resize of HFS+, FAT and NTFS partitions.

Case sensitivity conversion
Convert case-sensitive HFS+ to normal HFS+ and vice-versa, a real boon if you’ve made the wrong choice in the past.

Supports PC disks too
The tool supports PC partition tables as well as Apple and GUID Partition Table formats used on the Mac.

Smart partitioning
Unlike other partitioning utilities, the app is smart enough to work out where your partitions need to go without having to ask you to shuffle them around yourself. All you need do is tell it what size to make them and let it worry about the rest.

Power cut during partitioning? No problem.
Partitioning is risky, but we’ve got you covered — while we don’t recommend relying on it, iPartition can normally recover the disk even if you pull the plug during repartitioning.

Note: The demo version will not write changes to disk.

Доброго времени суток уважаемому сообществу!
Никто не встречал програмульки для Mac OsX, что бы выводила поверх всех окон маленькое окно с изображением с USB web камеры?
Пока нашел вот такую программу:
Look Back

Но она не устраивает по некоторым параметрам:
-изображение выдает растянутое, и полупрозрачное
-не возможно произвольно настроить размер окна
-нет полноэкранного режима
Помогите найти альтернативу.
