Java windows enable minidumps

Failed to write core dump. Minidumps are not enabled by default on client versions of Windows in Eclipse

I am getting following error when I try to run my Android application in Eclipse . But this is happening with only single project in same workspace.

By reading posts I got to know that this may be any memory error(hard disk sector dump error). So, I remove my app from my workspace to different one.

Installed new version of java, etc.

But of them is working.

Complete Error in log file :

How to Enable Minidump logs in Windows 10

Troubleshooting BSOD (blue screen of death) errors can be a difficult process, as limited information is provided when your OS crashes. Enabling minidump (small memory dump) files means that logs are provided with debugging information every time a BSOD occurs. Forums like this one will then be able to look though the logs and determine where the problem is.

To begin, click the Start Menu or Search Icon and type «Control Panel«, then click the entry that appears:

Now click System and Security from within the Control Panel:

Then click System from the list:

Now, click Advanced System Settings:

Under the Start-up and Recovery section, click Settings:

Finally, select Small Memory Dump from the debugging drop-down menu, then click OK:

Minidumps are now enabled, and will be created should you experience a BSOD error in future. If you wish to reset the settings back to default, please repeat the steps, but choose «Automatic memory dump» at the last stage. You may also wish to disable «automatically restart», so that you can see the error on screen if a BSOD occurs.

The minidump files will be located in %SystemRoot%\Minidump, which is generally C:\Windows\Minidump.

If you’d like to upload dump files to this site, please zip them up first and attach them to a new thread.

I’m trying to connect to an application written in VB using Jintegra to access it from JAVA. Since I don’t know how to work on JINTEGRA_NATIVE_MODE from Eclipse, I’m forced to use cmd and Javac. Anyways, I get this irritating error everytime I try to run the link (No actual code, just the link to the other application. I read all other related questions here and couldnt get anything that might help.. I’m totally novice about this.. Please If you can help, gimme a hand here.. Here is the whole Error:

Since this is an access violation, it’s likely caused by the «native» VB code. To get more information about the native side, use -XX:+UseOSErrorReporting . This will pass the exception to Windows, which can then do whatever it does when an application crashes.

By default, Windows will show the «Send error report to Microsoft», which is probably not what you want. Luckily there’s the LocalDumps Registry key which can be configured to write the crash information to your disk instead. The executable name will be java.exe or javaw.exe .

Other than that, not that VB6 is no longer supported and VB6 has awful symbols. This might make your life hard analyzing the crash dump.

VB6 is heavily based on Microsoft COM. And Microsoft COM requires marshalling objects to the correct thread. This can go wrong in Java, since it’s easily possible to have many threads there.

If you need to marshal COM interfaces to threads manually, Google for the GIT (global interface table) and the ROT (running object table). It probably requires you to write a small piece of C++ code that does it for you.

I have this Java class I am trying to run using Eclipse Mars.1 IDE.

When trying to run the following code I get the following error shown in my Eclipse console :

Here’s the error log returned from program executions

  1. Updating Java to latest version.
  2. Update Windows
  3. Restart PC
  4. Enable Mini-dumps through Advanced System Settings — > Startup & Recovery — > Settings — > Choosing ‘small memory dump’.
  5. Update Graphic Driver to latest from official producer’s (Nvidia) website.
  6. deleting ‘.metadata’ Folder from Eclipse’s workspace folder and Imported the existing project.

So far no luck, my simple app is trying to extract audio from a video.

Updating Java to latest version.

You have a problem in native code. Updating Java will unlikely help in that situation.

This will only help if the native code that you use is updated through Windows Updates.

Enable Mini-dumps through Advanced System Settings — > Startup & Recovery — > Settings — > Choosing ‘small memory dump’.

This setting is for kernel mode crashes (Blue Screen), not for application crashes (user mode). There is also a setting for application crashes (a Registry setting called LocalDumps) but it won’t work for Java, since Java does its own exception handling.

To get crash dumps from Java 9 and above, use the following command line switch:

On Java 8 and before, use the Windows specific command line

This will give you more details on what happens at the time of the crash. It will still be an AccessViolation but you’ll get the callstack etc. — if you have the knowledge of debugging it with WinDbg or similar.

Update Graphic Driver to latest from official producer’s (Nvidia) website.

There’s no evidence that this is related to the Graphics card.
