4. Read the rule. Find examples of the present perfect continuous in the text. —
We use the Present Perfect Continuous to talk about actions that began in the past and are still taking place with emphasis on duration.
- I’ve been watching TV since 6 pm.(I’m still watching TV now.)
- They’ve been sleeping for hours.(They’re still sleeping at the moment.) —
- How long have you been studying? —
- Since the morning/For five hours. —
In the last paragraph: have been trying, have been using — В последнем параграфе: пытаются, используют.
В роли вспомогательного выступает глагол to be в форме Present Perfect, т.е. в третьей форме (been) с добавлением перед ним глагола have/has.
Present Perfect Continuous
Обычно такие предложения содержат в себе слова, указывающие на временной промежуток: recently (на днях), lately (недавно), quite a while (долгое время/давненько), all my life (всю мою жизнь), this month/this year (месяц, год); а также маркеры времени for (в течение) и since (с тех пор, как), которые применяются в роли подсказок для употребления этого времени.
- Alex has been trying to fix the car for 2 hours —
- How long have you been dating? —
We have been dating for 5 months. - Since when has she been working here?
She’s been working here since January. —
- How long have you been dating? —
- I’m exhausted. We have been dancing all night. —
- John has been learning British English since he moved to England. —
I have admired Vladimir since I saw him last year.
5. Listen to the sounds. Match the people to what they have been doing. Then complete the sentences. —
- John (E) wash dishes
- the kids (A) play football

Draw pictures to show some of the things we can do.
If we use wind or solar power, there will be less pollution. If we turn off lights, TVs and computers when we are not using them, we will save energy. If we have to drive to work by car, we should share a ride with somebody else. We can plant new trees to make air be more clear. Also we can separate our garbage (glass, plastic, paper, food waste) to make recycling more effective.
