Многие пользователи не догадываются, какие обширные возможности предоставляет такой мощный инструмент, как Automator. На первый взгляд программа достаточно сложна в освоении, однако разобравшись, можно увидеть, что управление происходит довольно интуитивно и наглядно. Сегодня мы расскажем о службе, которая позволит в пару кликов осуществить конвертацию PDF-файла в формат JPG.

Если вы часто и много работаете с PDF-файлами, скорее всего вам приходится использовать специальные программы или онлайн-сервисы для различных операций. Это не всегда удобно — тем более, что выполнять эти задачи можно с помощью Automator. На этом примере мы рассмотрим, как перевести PDF-документ в простые изображения.

• Первым делом нам необходимо запустить приложение Automator. Сделать это можно через Spotlight, либо любым другим удобным способом;

В открывшемся окне выбираем «Новый документ», указав раздел «Программа»;

Необходимо воспользоваться поиском и найти пункт «Запросить объекты Finder». Перетягиваем в рабочую область программы;

Вновь обратимся к поиску и найдем следующие действия: «Получить выбранные объекты Finder» и «Обрабатывать PDF-страницы как изображения PDF». Добавляем в программу;

Настраиваем параметры конвертации — формат, цветовую модель, разрешение и степень сжатия;

Осталось найти последний пункт — «Переместить объекты Finder». Перетягиваем в рабочую область и указываем папку для сохранения будущих изображений;

Сохраняем созданную программу через контекстное меню или используя сочетание клавиш Command + S. Указываем название и расположение утилиты. Всё готово.

Благодаря нашему приложению, мы сможем быстро и легко «разбить» PDF-документ на страницы и сохранить их в виде изображений в отдельной папке.

Заметим, что процесс конвертации может занять достаточно много времени – скорость будет зависеть от количества страниц и мощности самого компьютера.

Преобразование графических файлов различных типов с помощью приложения «Просмотр» на Mac

В приложении «Просмотр» можно преобразовывать файлы изображений в множество других форматов, в том числе JPEG, JPEG 2000, PDF, PNG, PSD, TIFF и др. Это может пригодиться, если Вы обмениваетесь файлами с пользователями компьютеров других типов или если хотите открыть файлы в приложении, поддерживающем не все типы файлов.

В приложении «Просмотр» на Mac откройте файл, затем выберите меню «Файл» > «Экспортировать».

Откройте всплывающее меню «Формат» и выберите тип файла.

Если нужный тип файла не отображается, нажмите всплывающее меню «Формат», удерживая клавишу Option. В списке появятся специальные или устаревшие форматы.

В зависимости от выбранного формата могут появиться дополнительные параметры. Выбрав JPEG или JPEG 2000, можно настроить качество изображения. В файле PDF к изображению можно применить фильтр Quartz. Можно также зашифровать изображения, чтобы его могли увидеть только те, у кого есть пароль.

Введите новое имя или выберите новое место для сохранения преобразованного файла, затем нажмите «Сохранить».

Совет. Если нужно конвертировать несколько файлов одновременно, откройте их в одном окне, затем выделите в боковом меню и выполните действия, описанные выше.

При открытии документа PostScript (PS) или EPS приложение «Просмотр» автоматически преобразует его в файл PDF.

How to Convert Several Images into a Single PDF Using Preview

Over the years, Adobe’s PDF file type has become a universally accepted method for sharing digital documents. The format’s cross-platform adoption means the documents can be viewed on almost any mobile device or computer, so it’s no surprise to find that macOS includes native support for viewing and creating PDF files.

In the Preview app, for example, it’s possible to create a single multi-page PDF document out of several separate image files. The feature is particularly useful if you need to share a number of scanned documents over email or digitize something for reference. Keep reading to learn how it’s done.

How to Convert Several Images into a Single PDF

1. In Finder, select all the images you want to include in the PDF. To do this, drag a box over several images files using your mouse cursor, or select them individually by holding the Command key and clicking them one by one.
   

Right-click (or Ctrl-click) one of the highlighted files and select Open With -> Preview in the contextual dropdown menu.

In Preview’s sidebar, drag the thumbnail images into the order that you want them to appear in the PDF document. Use the Rotate button in Preview’s toolbar to change the orientation of individual pages (drag a selection over multiple pages to rotate several at once).

In the Preview menu bar, select File -> Print. , or use the Command+P keyboard shortcut to bring up the Print dialog.

Click Show Details to expand the Print dialog and browse the full set of options. Make sure the All button is selected in the Pages options. Note that you can double-check the orientation of each image by clicking the arrows below the print preview, and use the Orientation buttons to correct any if required.

Select Save as PDF from the PDF dropdown menu in the lower left of the Print dialog.

The Save dialog will appear. Give your new PDF a name and choose a save location. Fill in the Title, Author, Subject, and Keywords fields if desired (these details are searchable in Spotlight). The Security Options. button also lets you optionally set a password to open the document, copy from it, and/or print it.

Click Save when you’re done.

Note that the Save as PDF option can be accessed from the Print dialog window within a number of macOS apps, not just Preview. You can use it to create PDFs of web pages viewed in Safari, or Word documents opened in Pages, for example.

Convert a PDF to JPG with Preview in Mac OS X

Preview is an often underused Mac OS X app that can handle a lot of file and image conversion tasks without the need for downloading any third party tools. Preview also happens to be the default PDF viewer in Mac OS X, and as such it can be used to easily convert any PDF file to a JPG, while still preserving the appearance and structure of the PDF.

Assuming you haven’t installed Adobe Acrobat Reader, Preview will be the default PDF viewer in Mac OS X. If it’s not, open the file in Preview anyway.

• Launch Preview from the /Applications/ folder and open the PDF that needs to be converted
• Pull down the “File” menu and select “Export” (if you mapped Export to the “Save As” shortcut just hit Command+Shift+S)
• From the ‘Export As’ window, click the contextual menu next to “Format” and choose “JPEG”
• Adjust the quality or resolution if necessary, and then hit “Save”

That’s all there is to it, the new JPG will be in the same directory as the PDF it came from unless you specified otherwise.

Preview- thumbnails did not work for me. Only printed first page, even when I selected all pages.

However, I could click on each page and export it as a separate jpg. so I have 4 jpgs, each a numbered page of the original pdf.

It’s a one-time need, so I won’t brave the script just yet.

When I used this method on a .png that was just an image created by an ad agency, the resolution was rough, especially on text. I found that Gimp (open source photo editor) was a much better way to import a .pdf and then create an excellent resolution .png file, not to mention an excellent way to crop and modify the image.

I’ve had the same problem. Losing all the resolution is not a valid solution.

Thanks for the info about converting to PDF. Is there a way I can convert the text so that I can use the highlighter? I haven’t figured out a way to do so, but believe it can be done. Thanks for the help!

I am a graphic designer at an ad agency. Because of the shear volume of work I need to pass off some smaller tasks that I had previously been doing myself to others in the office who are less graphically adept and software equipped (they don’t have all of the Adobe programs I have to do the job as I do it). All they have to work with, at present, is Mac Pages, Preview, and Acrobat Reader.

The task at hand is making discount coupons for use on a website. I have created a perfect template for the coupon in the Mac “Pages” program so these other people can easily input deals and offers themselves with the type all properly styled and in place, and then save the document as a PDF. The trouble is, the web site needs the coupons to be uploaded as JPEGs of a certain very specific size and resolution.

Preview can open and export PDFs to JPEGs very easily and this scheme would seem to be perfect for these people. However, the JPEGs that Preview makes (even at the best quality setting) are not quite good enough, and (worse) come out the wrong size – exactly twice the size that the website needs them to be. I can easily fix this in Photoshop, but the other staff do not have that option.

Is there another PDF to JPEG converter out there (other than Photoshop) that will give precise control over output quality and size (specific XX pixels by XX pixels ratios). I haven’t found one yet. So far all of these PDFs are making are coming back to me for the final JPEG creation process. To be efficient, and profitable, these other folk need to take me out of the loop – plus I have much more important things to do.

Any help that you have to offer would be appreciated.

Does not work for me…only gives PDF as a format option. Boo!
