I’ve read the most relevant threads [I could find] on this game not working on Windows 10, and nothing I’ve found either tells WHY it won’t run, nor how to GET IT to run. Someone mentioned a Services entry in Control Panel’s Admin tools, but it doesn’t exist in Windows 10, and someone else mentioned «reinstalling» XLive redistrutable found in local directory, but as the program WARNED when I attempted to install it, it’s incompatible with Windows 10.
I’m tired of this bull-drek. I’d appreciate someone telling me how to get it running, but I’m just about ready to get a refund.
Running in Compatibility Mode for Vista as an Administrator is a complete waste of time, too.
NOTE: I’m going to try Dog Days and see how THAT goes. If that one has screwed the pooch as well, that’s it: I’ll give the games BACK.
«This app might not work correctly; Games for Windows Live is not designed for this version of Windows.» After ignoring this caveat, the game STILL doesn’t run. The problem isn’t INSTALLING GFWL, it’s just it’s not the SOLUTION to getting the game to run.
BTW, Dog Days runs fine (still trying to decide whether or not the vertical purple artifacts

Smokin: . The link took me right to System Requirements. My system is WAY overpowered with respect to what the game requires. WHAT fix? Tell ya what: I’ll try the only other thing I found on the page: Install LATEST GFWL client.
Update: The latest version (which does NOT give me a compatibility warning) installs very nicely, but doesn’t seem to have a damned thing to do with the Steam version of Kane & Lynch: Dead Men…the game STILL refuses to launch OR deliever error messages, for that matter.
As for «some people» not being able to get it working on Windows 10, I find it quite puzzling, as I’m not a newcomer either to gaming or computers. Nobody, no matter HOW expert he is—or claims to be—knows everything. What I try to do is find people who know more than I do about particular things.
Since it doesn’t seem to be a software issue, then maybe it’s hardware. I’ll list my specs in case anyone knows if an item I mention has known issues that I’m unaware of:

Zapotec nVIDIA GeForce 970 / 2GB

I have not tried this on my AMD machine. It’s older, was expensive when I built it, and got the upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 7. I’ll plug all the peripherals in and power it up tomorrow and see what shakes out.
Well, if it’s a software issue, then which application or combination of applications is the culprit? It’s NOT the Games for Windows Live/Marketplace area; they’ve been tried and the issue does not respond to that remedy. I haven’t heard any other application remedy suggested. If there’s a particular DLL that needs to be installed [for which no error message has been delivered], then by all means, tell me about it and I’ll do it.
It’s a legitimate installation package duly registered through Steam, so it’s not pirated software to blame. All dependencies are present, properly installed, and the integrity of the game cache has been verified and validated. The system is clean, undamaged by malware activity.
The game and/or its launcher does not identify any issue—it simply doesn’t launch the game. The screen doesn’t even flicker. After I click «OK» when it presents the product ID it says I need to enter, the cursor indicates business for about a second, then NOTHING.
As for «the usual» fixes, I don’t know what they are supposed to be, so I can’t call BS on them. I have had the game run BEFORE on Windows Vista, but that was in a different galaxy far, far away, and no «fixes» were required then.
the games for windows live, just like most windows related things, is quite complex and could very well refuse to work due to some random configuration on your OS or something.

I had already been to that page—funny story about that: I had already wondered about that DLL, which was the reason I mentioned that specific filetype. Weirdness was that file was NOT present, even after GFWL/M reinstallation, and one of my attempted steps was to PUT that file there in the hopes that the error-without-a-related-message might be eliminated.
Thanks to your suggestion with the specific mention of the REMOVAL of that file (which had not been possible before, as that file had to be manually installed), the solution has been found. Long story short, what worked was download and install the latest GFWM client directly from Microsoft (ignore the redistributable in the game’s directory) and then make sure that dynamic link library is not present.
I just deleted a bunch of stuff you’re probably not interested in, a dry technical critique of lazy programmers (I’ve done a little programming instruction).

Здравствуйте. В данном руководстве можно найти решение некоторых технических проблем для игры «Kane & Lynch: Dead Men«.
Дело в том, что я решив поиграть в «Kane & Lynch: Dead Men» встретился с ошибкой при запуске.
Естественно я сразу полез в сеть в поисках решения этой проблемы и частично решил ее используя подсказки из сети, но игра все же отказывалась запускаться.
Ниже изложенно решение, которое применил лично я для того, чтобы все работало как надо.
Дабы руководство было более информативным я помещу в него еще несколько вариантов решений некоторых пролем
Для этого необходимо открыть папку с игрой, которая находится: «X:/Steam\steamapps\common\Kane and Lynch Dead Men» (где «X» — это ваш локальный диск где установлена игра и сам «Steam «по умолчанию).
В библиотеке «Steam «находим игру «Kane & Lynch: Dead Men«, нажимаем на нее правой кнопкой мыши и выбираем в открывшемся контекстном меню «Свойства«. Затем в окне свойств выделяем раздел «Локальные файлы» и нажимаем на пункт «Посмотреть локальные файлы«.
Затем в папке с игрой находим файл «kaneandlynch.exe» и нажав на него правой кнопкой мыши, открываем его свойства. В открытом окне выделяем раздел «Совместимость«, ставим галочку напротив пункта «Запустить программу в режиме совместимости с» и ниже в контекстном меню выбираем пункт «Windows 7» и закрываем окно нажав кнопку «ОК«.
Переходим по этой ссылке [go.microsoft.com] загружаем «Game For Windows Live«. Сам сервис «GFWL» уже «умер», но некоторые игры все еще нуждаются в его библиотеке «xlive.dll» для запуска, так что проблем этим ужасным сервисом не будет, нам важна лишь установка этой утилиты.
Запустив игру необходимо создать локальную учетную запись «GFWL«.
Для этого нажимаем «Создать новый профиль«(или что-то в этом роде) и прокрутив ниже выбираем пункт «создать локальный профиль»(пункт будет распологаться в самом тексте соглашения. Также, как и на картинке ниже). Создаем локальный профиль и собственно на этом заканчиваются все махинации.
Если при игре происходит «вылет»(ошибка) и вам приходит отчет об ошибке, то просто игнорируя отчет разверните игру «Kane & Lynch: Dead Men«.
В случае если никакого отчета нет, то произведите настройки «отчетов об ошибках» в своей версии «Windows«.
Насколько я знаю, то в «Kane & Lynch: Dead Men» есть коопретивный режим, но играть в него можно только в режиме сплит-скрина(разделение экрана), т.е за одним компьютером. Через интернет в кооперативный режим играть нельзя, т.к в онлайн режимах пункт кооперативного прохождения отсутствует.
Чтобы играть вдвоем, необходимо подключить к компьютеру контроллер от «XBOX360[/u]» или другой совместимый с «XBOX360» и PC контроллер.

Yep just updated to windows 10 anniversary problem fixed dont know why but its fixed.

yeah it was rather frustrating my pc is too overkill for a game and it was running so bad until i figured out updating to windows 10 anniversary solves it.
another tip aswell if your getting bad stuttering on the game set your refresh rate to 50hz this is only people who do get stuttering on the game.
Moo. My laptop happily updated to the anniversary edition, but my desktop claims it’s already up to date :'( It’s upsetting enough, I spent an hour on this game diagnosing a faulty GPU but now that it’s been removed, I can’t play it anyway 🙁

ahh im sorry to hear that dude this fix is basically for people on windows 10 the newest anniversary edition fixed and made the game work because everyone with high end rigs was getting terrible fps from it. i personally dont think this would happen with AMD users though as their drivers are designed and work good for older games. i think this windows update just brings a ton of fixes espically for NVIDIA users like myself. it all depends on the specs of the laptop you have i suppose but personally i would just wait it out and get a Good GPU for your Desktop Computer.
This FIX only works if you have really good PC Specs and is for people having problems with the Game just Running poorly for no Reason what so ever. This PC Port is Bad spent 20 Minutes having to Set Up the GFWL And putting in the Product Key into GFWL itself Had to Make a new XBL Account for it all to Work obviously. Overall This Fix Should Work no Problem.

Well, my desktop has a fully functioning GTX 770 in it, so no issues in hardware, I’m just sad that I went through almost an hour diagnosing my other 770 only to find the game doesn’t work anyway 😛
My laptop is also overkill for this game, but I’m not really into playing video games on my laptop, there’s just more trouble doing so.
