Kega Fusion

Kega Fusion это эмулятор старых консолей Sega для Linux. В результате многих лет разработки он поддерживает Sega Mega Drive / Genesis, SG1000, SG3000, Sega CD, Game Gear, Sega Master System и Sega X32. Вам нужен только корректный ROM файл. Так же существуют версии эмулятора под Windows и Mac OS.

Kega Fusion легковесный и действительно простой в использовании эмулятор сега для Linux. РОМ-файлы можно просто перетащить на окно эмулятора, и игра сразу же будет запущена. Игры воспроизводятся очень равномерно. Нет пропуска кадров или других проблем с картинкой.

RetroCopy — отличный эмулятор Sega для Linux. Он поддерживает следующие консоли:

Regen — это Sega Mega Drive / Genesis эмулятор для Linux, разработанный программистом под ником AamirM. Философия эмулятора — максимально точная эмуляция. Он поддерживает почти все Sega игры. Все элементы консольных систем эмулированы в мельчащих деталях. Автор заявляет, что Regen уже воспроизводит игры точнее, чем даже Kega Fusion. Kega Fusion, also shortened as Fusion and initially named Kega II, is a multi-system emulator for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X developed by Steve Snake. It is the follow-up to Kega Lazarus, and is the last in Steve Snake’s Sega emulators after KGen, KGen98, Kega and Lazarus.

The first few versions of Fusion were numbered 0.1 followed by a letter. This system was dropped due to people’s reluctance to use lower-numbered versions of any program, and Steve Snake decided to jump straight to version 3.0. After version 3.2 the emulator was no longer referred to as a «beta» for the same reason.

Emulation

Unlike most Mega Drive emulators of the time, Kega Fusion puts an extremely high importance on accuracy as opposed to speed or other features (such as netplay, movie recording, or many other features found in emulators like Gens). However, Fusion is highly optimized and runs very efficiently. On a Pentium III class or a similar microprocessor, Kega Fusion runs at 60 frames per second with Sega Mega Drive ROMs, though with the popular 2xSaI graphics filter plugin the processing power needed to achieve 60 frames per second is much higher (it can also be noted that emulating Sega 32X ROMs at full speed, an 850 MHz or faster microprocessor is strongly recommended). The emphasis on accuracy shows in the Yamaha YM2612 coding, which is reported by Steve Snake to be almost perfect (indeed, there are many games where sound is buggy or wrong in any Mega Drive emulator except for Kega Fusion such as the title screen themes for Sonic 3D: Flickies’ Island and Sonic & Knuckles). Compatibility is very high with Kega Fusion, even on the infamous Sega 32X, which has many games that most if not all emulators cannot handle. Since the Sega 32X BIOSs have been more thoroughly reverse engineered than the BIOSs for the Mega-CD, as of version 3.3 Kega Fusion does not require a Sega 32X BIOS (though you can still use an external BIOS). Kega Fusion can emulate most (if not all) Sega home video game consoles released before the Sega Saturn (though there is some cryptic indication by Steve Snake that Saturn emulation could be possible in the future).

Along with being able to emulate most Sega home console systems Kega Fusion also supports logging to a WAV file or the successor to GYM format, VGM. VGM is much like GYM in terms of how it’s created but widely superior in its accuracy to YM2612 synthesis, compression (in the VGZ format) and looping. It also has support for the YM2413, a synthesizer found on the Sega Mark III (the Japanese equivalent of the Master System), which the GYM format does not. As of version 3.5, Kega Fusion supports multiplayer over the internet or LAN. While multiplayer support is still in its preliminary stages, Kega Fusion 3.51 has made multiplayer more stable. Kega Fusion 3.6 currently supports AVI movie logging in the form of a «Video 1 lossless codec.»

Even though Kega Fusion is being developed separately from Gens, the development teams are more cooperative than antagonistic towards each other. The differences between Kega Fusion and Gens appeal to different audiences, with Kega Fusion having a more hardcore audience mainly because Kega Fusion is not as well known among new and/or novice emulation fans as Gens even though it is much more accurate.

It is highly recommended to enable «Perfect Sync» option when playing Mega-CD games, as Kega Fusion will not be able to run some of them properly with this setting disabled.

The Game Gear game Ax Battler: A Legend of Golden Axe has no sprites in version 3.64, making it unplayable. Another Game Gear game Kaitou Saint Tail has graphical artifacts as well, such as when powerup us used. Use version 3.63 of Kega Fusion for these games.

Какой джойстик выбрать

Самым верным решением является использование оригинального джойстика Sega, но такие тяжело достать в наше время и не каждый сможет сделать переходник для подключения его к компьютеру.

Оригинальный джойстик Sega Mega Drive.

Поэтому достаточно приобрести дешевый китайский аналог с USB-выходом на Алиэкспрессе, например от компании Data Frog.

Ставим эмулятор приставки Kega Fusion

Если у вас 64-битная архитектура, то для начала добавьте в систему пакеты под 32-битную архитектуру:

Втыкаем китайскую поделку в USB компьютера и запускаем jstest-gtk :

В этой программе вы можете проверить работоспособность гейпада и каждой его кнопки, а также переназначить некоторые клавиши.

[Lubuntu] Kega Fusion

Hi! New to the Linux and Ubuntu world user here!

I was just wondering how to setup Fusion to get it up and running on my laptop, I’m using Lubuntu 14.04 64-bit on a Dell Studio 1558 with built-in Intel HD Graphics.

I tried searching other threads similar to my question, but the methods stated didn’t work for me, so I hope someone would fill me in.

Firstly you need to get hold of the various bios files which i cant give you due to copyright for the sega cd/32x(Google is your friend) Then put them in your Fusion Directory where the Fusion executable file is.
If you just want to run Megadrive/Genesis stuff I dont think you will need a bios file.
Normally you run fusion and select all your bios files under the menu>options>set config
Or select all your preferred options which will save a config.ini (After first run of Fusion and exiting) file in your home folder under .Kega Fusion (You may have to press CTRL+H to unhide this folder)
The Fusion executable you should have downloaded from the Fusion website and it should be around 697kb in size, this is your executable to double click to run.
It *should* run Megadrive/Genesis roms without bios but when you want to run 32x Genesis/Megadrive roms they require their own special bios (Again Google is your friend here) Same with SegaCD/MegaCD images.
Then just Press File>Run whatever system you need and browse to the rom/image of your game

Hey there! Thanks for the reply, I already tried downloading Fusion from the website, extracted it then I did try double-clicking the executable, unfortunately nothing comes up. What am I doing wrong?

is the file marked as executable?
Right click it and select properties, there should be an option to mark it as executable
Either that or open a terminal in the folder you have the Fusion binary and type «./Fusion» without the quotes and paste what the output is in the terminal (make sure you type fusion exactly as it is spelt, capital letters and all if it has them) If you binary is called «fusion» type «./fusion» or if its called Fusion, with a capital make sure you type «./Fusion»

Yup, I can confirm that it is an executable. I tried running it with the terminal, I have to locate the directory where Fusion is kept before typing the command «./Fusion» yes? Nothing comes up after that.

When I tried right-clicking and «run the executable in the terminal» nothing comes up either.

You are correct in that you have locate the folder with the Fusion exe in it before typing. After typing ./Fusion what is written in the terminal window even if it does not run?
Anything about missing dependencies?

Try folowing this site..if it works for you i will write it here for completeness sake and for anyone else that needs the help

I have attached my Fusion.ini to this post and it needs to be extracted as is into your home folder (with the dot in front too as it is a hidden folder)

Worth a try it may be simply because there is no .ini file,

I tried re-downloading Kega from that website, somehow I tried double-clicking the executable, it. worked. just like that.

I’m having no trouble with sound or anything. it just works now! Woah, hey thanks for the links, I think this already solves my problem.

I love emulators myself and believe me some have had me scratching my head too. Dont forget the other systems it emulates (32x, SegaCD etc) may need extra bios files!
