Keyboard no numbers pad windows

Fix: Numeric Keypad Not Working in Windows 10

When it comes to typing numbers into a computer, nothing beats the practicality, usability and comfort offered by the dedicated numeric keypad that is found on all standard computer keyboards. Almost all computer users prefer typing numbers into their computers using the dedicated numeric keypad as opposed to the row of numbers found atop the alphabets on a QWERTY computer keyboard. However, unfortunately, some Windows 10 users are experiencing an issue which renders the dedicated numeric keypads on their computer keyboard unusable.

There is no concrete evidence as to what causes this issue – some speculate that this problem is caused by Windows 10 disabling the keyboard, whereas others argue that this is simply a bug affecting quite a few Windows 10 users. Thankfully, though, Windows 10 users affected by this issue have had success in fixing it using a variety of different methods, the most effective of which are the following:

Method 1: Enable the numeric keypad

If you are experiencing this problem because Windows 10 is forcefully disabling the dedicated numeric keypad on your keyboard, enabling it should fix the problem. In order to do so, you need to:

If the Num Lock is turned on, press the Num Lock key to turn it off.

Once the Num Lock is off, press and hold it for about 5 seconds, after which you can let it go.

Doing so will forcefully enable to dedicated numeric keypad, hopefully resolving this issue and allowing you to regain its use.

Pro Tip: If the method listed and described doesn’t work, open the Start Menu, click on Control Panel, click on Ease of Access Center (or Ease of Access > Ease of Access Center in case your Control Panel is in Category View), click on Make the keyboard easier to use, uncheck the checkbox beside the Turn on Toggle Keys by holding down the NUM LOCK key for 5 seconds option to disable it, click on Apply, click on OK, close the Ease of Access Center, repeat the method listed and described above and then check to see if that fixes the problem.

Method 2: Disable the “Use numeric keypad to move mouse” option

If Method 1 doesn’t work, you can also try and fix this issue by disabling the “Use numeric keypad to move mouse around the screen” option in the Ease of Access section of the Settings menu. To do so, you need to:

Open the Start Menu.

Click on Settings.

Click on Ease of Access.

Click on Mouse in the left pane.

In the right pane, under Mouse keys, make sure that the Use numeric keypad to move mouse around the screen option it turned off.

Exit the utility and check to see whether or not the problem has been fixed.

Followed your instructions and I still can not use the 10 keys on the Logitech K120 keyboard. This one replaced a Microsoft one with which I experienced the same problem.

The strange thing is that anytime I restart the computer, numlock on, I can login to the computer using the 10 keys on the keyboard and that is all the 10 keys will not work again. If by mistake I use the 10 keys all it will do is move cursor left of right nothing else.

You have been very kind and I appreciate your assistance. Check your bag of tricks and see if you find something I can apply to solve this little problem. Thanks.

Use Microsoft Number Pad

The Microsoft Number Pad makes it easy to enter numbers and it’s easy to store when it’s not in use.

Requirements

To get set up, you’ll need a PC that’s running Windows 10 with support for Bluetooth 4.0 or later. This number pad supports Swift Pair in Windows 10 for faster pairing.

Connect your keyboard

You can pair your number pad with up to three devices. Here’s how to connect it to your Windows 10 PC:

Slide the switch on the bottom of your number pad to turn it on. It will automatically enter pairing mode and the LED light will flash. If it doesn’t, press and hold the pair button on the bottom of the number pad for 5 seconds or until the LED light starts to flash.

On your Windows 10 PC, select Connect if a notification appears for your number pad, then wait for it to get set up.

Don’t see the notification? Select Start , then select Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices > Add Bluetooth or other devices > Bluetooth > Microsoft Number Pad > Done.

To pair it with another device, press the pair button. The light will change to the next Bluetooth slot and your number pad will enter pairing mode. If the notification to Connect appears on multiple PCs, select it on the PC you want to pair to then follow the instructions.

Replace your battery

Your number pad uses one coin-cell (CR2032) battery. Here’s how to put the battery in your number pad:

Turn your number pad over and insert a pin into the small hole.

Keep holding the pin and slide the battery door away from the number pad.

Place your battery into the available slot. Make sure the postive end is facing up.

Slide the battery door back into position.

To check the battery level, select Start > Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices . The battery level appears next to your number pad.

Access a calculator quickly

Press the Calculator key to open the Calculator app on your Windows 10 PC. To change this shortcut or get more customization options, download the Microsoft Keyboard and Mouse Center.

Download the Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center

Customize all the keys on your number pad to open your favorite apps and more with Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center. To get the app, see Mouse and Keyboard Center download.

GL704GW Keyboard stop working. ASUS number pad driver prob after Windows 1903 update

Hello, I saw diferent people having the same issue with past updates of Windows. I have a GL704GW and I alredy tried to:

-Go to device manager and right click on keyboard, press «update driver». Choose search drivers on this pc and then press choose from already installed drivers. There must be HID Keyboard Device, choose it instead of ASUS NUMPAD as on the post https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthrea. on-1803-solved

-Delete all the HID devices on the keyboard section on device manager and let windows to do a fresh install

-Update all what I can from Armory Crate.

-Force the install of the ASUS number pad drivers 12.0.0.12 and 12.1.0.23

My partial conclusions are:

-ASUS number pad drivers 12.1.0.23 are not compatible with some things on the Windows 1903 update

-There is no official updated number pad drivers from Asus

-Obviously there’s something I’m missing

Have you found a different option to deal with this problem?
thanks in advance.

Have you tried installing the latest ASUS Keyboard hotkeys Driver (Version 2.0.5.0)?

» The speed of the fallen one does not change. «

That was the fist page I saw to try to fix this. On that page I see VGA, BIOS, AUDIO, LAN, TouchPad, Others (Intel Rapid Storage), Wireless, Chipset, BlueTooth, and the ArmouryCrate hotfix.

There is no ASUS Keyboard hotkeys Driver entry, do you know where I can download that driver to check? I’ll keep searching for it, thx!

UPDATE: I have the keyboard working right now but is in conflict with something of windows, when I restart it doesn’t back on, if I suspend the notebook works just fine. If I’m using the a external keyboard a long time the keyboard starts working again randomly. I checked the flex and the connection it’s ok.

Perhaps you have a different issue. I have ROG G752VSK and each and every Win 10 feature update breaks my keyboard (as it did today for 1903, glad I keep a keyboard on hand). This solution works for me every time. Edited slightly from your first post.

Go to device manager expand keyboards, right click ASUS NUMPAD press «update driver». Choose browse my computer, then let me pick from a list. Chose the HID Keyboard Device.
