Re: Ideapad z500 windows 10 compatibility

I have the same pc and when I try to install W10 with Windows Update i get an error (code 80070003). I’ve also trying using the tool indicated by Microsoft and by clicking install now, the installation process starts but at around 24 % it stops, get back to desktop and a message box saying «W10 installation not succesful» appear. The same happens if I try to use the ISO file downloaded via the tool.

Do you know how to solve this situation?

I saw that the Z500 is not included in the compatible devices list. Since this pc is less than 3 years old, will Lenovo release a patch (or something else), so that we can also upgrade to W10, or there’s absolutely no way for us to get the new operating system?

Re: Ideapad z500 windows 10 compatibility

Hi sarde881,
I have installed Windows 10 without any issue using media creator tool. During upgrade I selected «remove app and settings».
I tried 4 times, but it was continuously failing, then I changed my locale to » English(US)» and it was successful. My OS is running fine, so far no issues.

My question here is, what are the hardware incompatibilities due to which lenovo is not recommending this device for Windows 10 upgrade?

l’incompatibilità che riscontro io, è l’impossibilità di regolare l’illuminazione dello schermo

the incompatibility that I reflected , is the inability to adjust the screen brightness

Re: Ideapad z500 windows 10 compatibility

Brightness issue is not new, even its there in windows 8.1, there are workaround for this issue as well.
I think lenovo should be clearly stating about issues.

Lenovo should be clear in their statement about windows 10 incompatibility issues. Sony have clearly stated this to their customer and ask them to wait until they are testing Windows 10.

Re: Ideapad z500 windows 10 compatibility

I recently upgraded my Ideapad Z500 touch to Windows 10 and I have found problems with the Dolby and the network. Did not worked the drivers of any network card, LAN or Wireless. After I made a lot of effort (spending my time) and tried other «compatible drivers» I was forced to revert to 8.1

it is incredible for me that a vendor of a computer with just 2 years old do not made the drivers needed for a new version of Windows that is known and can be tested since months.

Please Lenovo hire developers and make the drivers you must resolve the problem.

Re: Ideapad z500 windows 10 compatibility

I have windows 10 running on Lenovo Ideapad z500

Lenovo Ideapad Z500 (59-380463)

Processor: 3rd gen Intel core i5 — 3230M (2.6 GHz)
RAM: 6GB DDR3
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GT 740M — 2GB
HDD: 1 TB
Display: 15.6″ screen (1366 x 768)
DVD RW Drive
OS: Windows 8 64-bit(Upgraded to windows 10 64-bit single Language)

Only problem I face is Lenovo Easy Camera driver is not installing in windows 10.
I’ve Installed other drivers in windows 10 from windows 8 and 8.1 drivers found in official website from the below link

There are no windows 10 drivers still. Thats kind of setback..Hope they release the updated drivers.

Re: Ideapad z500 windows 10 compatibility

First of all Lenovo doesn’t make drivers, the individual component makers make the drivers.

Second, if the component manufacturers decide that they are not going to upgrade the drivers to work with new operating systems, then there will not be any drivers, which is what you are all seeing. That is why the Z500 is not on the compatibility list.

If you insist on installing Windows 10 on this machine as a clean install, then what you should be doing is copying the driver folder from the Windows 8.1 install and then installing the drivers onto Windows 10 from this folder. Some drivers will install, others will not. Disabling driver signatures in the Windows 10 install will help for some of these, but not for all of them.

Because of these issues, I have not upgraded my Z500 touch to Windows 10 as yet.
