LightScribe software for Windows 10

Hello, I just took a LightScribe burner out of one computer and put it in my newer computer. Before doing that however I upgraded to Windows 10 so now I need help finding a Windows 10 compatible LightScribe program hopefully free. I tried the LightScribe Simple Labler from here http://lightscribesoftware.org/freesoftware/ as it claims it’s compatible with Windows 10 however the software isn’t good at all for what I want it to do. I can’t add my own customization to it, I can’t add my own pictures. The template labler that is available on that same page is not Windows 10 compatible.

Does anyone know where I can get free LightScribe program for Windows 10 that has better customization?

As per the description, I understand that you are experiencing issue with Windows 10 compatibility with LightScribe software.

I certainly understand your concern and will try my best to help you.

I would suggest you to try installing the drivers in compatibility mode and check if that helps. Please refer to the following Microsoft help article given below and check if that helps.

Make older programs compatible with this version of Windows, please follow the steps in the link provided below.

Note: Most programs created for earlier versions of Windows will work in this version of Windows, but some older programs might run poorly or not at all. You can run the Program Compatibility Troubleshooter on most programs to detect and fix common compatibility problems .

Important: Don’t run the Program Compatibility Troubleshooter on antivirus programs, firewall software, backup software, disk utilities, or on system programs that came with Windows. This might cause data loss or create a security risk.

You may also try the following steps and check if that help.

To install the drivers in compatibility mode:

Right click on the setup file of the driver and select Properties

Select Compatibility Tab

Place a check mark next to Run this program in Compatibility mode and select the operating system accordingly from the drop down list

Let the driver to install and then check the functionality.

You may also refer to the link given below.

Note: It will f ind compatibility information and get Windows compatible device drivers, app updates, and downloads.

The above steps holds good for Windows 10 as well.

Does anyone know where I can get free LightScribe program for Windows 10?

I have a burner, but the software died with the motherboard in my old computer. As it stands, I have a nice CD/DVD burner, but no LightScribe capability. The manufacturer, LG, says the program that died with the old computer, was a freebie, short-term trial (it lasted for years!); they do not supply such programs; they are available only from third party sources. I have already had to clean out malware in my own internet search and I do not wish to do that again.

So MY QUESTION REMAINS this and only this:

Does anyone know where I can get free LightScribe program for Windows 10?

I am running Windows 10 Pro. You will need LIGHTSCRIBE SYSTEM SOFTWARE (LSS), LIGHTSCRIBE SIMPLE LABELER. I have not had any luck with LIGHTSCRIBE TEMPLATE LABELER.. SURETHING LABELER 5 — 15 DAY TRIAL VERSION worked great and you can add background templates which can be downloaded https://web.archive.org/web/20131031070257/http://www.lightscribe.com/ideas/index.aspx?id=6075

ANytime you can not find an old site try using web.archives.org , the chache everything. Any problems let me know..

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone, but non worked. The Lightscribe.com software will provide only a circular four or five-word title and no more. Maybe it will allow listing the contents, but there is no provision for graphics,

I used Roxio NXT whatever and finally got some results. The download/installation was faulty and did not work; if you have that problem, remove the program and try installing again. The whole story is too traumatic to repeat, but eventually it worked. some of the time. I finally printed 30+ labels of the same design and am about to attempt another set. The problems with Roxio eventually resolved enough to work by re-installing the download. \As for Lightscribe softaware.com, I have it on my computer but I do not think it does anything to enhance Roxio.

Someone needs to go back to the script for Roxio NXT and correct the glitches or make a new program. Otherwise, Lightscribe is out of business for lack of decent programs to make it work. Perhaps LG could offer their original freebie as a good starting point.

If you are using Lightscribe, good luck! In a week or two you may be able to get all your printing done!

As far as I am concerned, this string is complete, unless someone has better ideas about how to use the invention.

The LightScribe Template Labeler

Over the years many people who have used the LightScribe Template Labeler have asked me if there was a way in which the program could be used to create labels from scratch without relying on one of the templates provided…

Also in addition to regular LightScribe Template Labeler users, people who have bought LightScribe Duplicators have also asked if there is any software they could use other than the Template Labeler because it was insufficient for their needs…

As it turns out the answer to both questions is the same…

Back in 2010 having been asked these questions many times, thought there must be a way I could help!

The Real LightScribe Template Labeler Issue

The LightScribe Template Labeler is a great piece of free labeling software however it comes as no surprise that you are restricted to using the templates provided. Despite the fact that there are many to choose from your scope for individual creativity is limited.

As for the duplicator users, the only file format they use is .lsi which is the format of … you guessed it the LightScribe Template Labeler… So the problem for them is the same as it is for any Template Labeler user… You are stuck with the Template Labeler.

LightScribe Template Labeler ‘Any Label’ Solution

I took a look at how the Lightscribe Template Labeller worked and realized that with a little ‘re-engineering’ of the program you can indeed create ANY design you wish… and this works just as well for duplicators too.

The best way for me to explain this is to show you, so the video below is a walk-through of the process. In the video this more advanced process is toward the end after I have covered all the basics.

If you have a duplicator you have no choice, because there is no other software that creates .lsi files. In fact, you need a ‘Special Version‘ of the TL that should have been supplied with your duplicator. However if you don’t have it, you can download a copy from here.

If however you use a Standard LightScribe Drive and want LightScribe Software that lets you create LightScribe labels with easy then take a look at my LightScribe Toolbox Premium 🙂

After some 6 months or so working with LightScribe and Windows 10 a few things have emerged…

1: Lightscribe has not suffered or benefited from the change from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10.
.

2: Windows 10 Home is still more forgiving regarding installation of the LightScribe System Software (LightScribe Drivers) than Windows 10 Pro.
.

3: If you have LightScribe installed on a Win 7 or 8 machines prior to upgrading to Windows 10 you are more likely to keep it than install it fresh on a new Win 10 install.
.

4: You still can’t install the LightScribe Template Labeler on Windows 10, directly but you can using these indirect methods I have discovered **

5: The best way to install the System Software on Windows 10 is using the compatibility settings, like this:

1: Select compatible setting and then click on use recommended setting.

2: Then click on test settings, program will install and will work.

3: Then just restart machine and you are done.

4: If LSS has not loaded then just go to programs load it from there.
