а команды не напишите?

и еще интересует, как из mkv 1080р делать avi или wmv 720р, с разбивкой файла на куски 4Гб (чтобы можно было через xbox кино смотреть)

mencoder не помню, в инете куча инфы, да на этом форуме тоже, а вот в авидемуксе там все графически, «интуитивно понятно»

есть еще h264enc — консольный, но позволяет вводить из командной строки

Сам учись. Команд-вариаций до того много, что всю жизнь не поспрашиваешь. Или используй GUI с интуитимно понятными интерфейсами, например avidemux-gtk ну или avidemux-qt

avidemux это не совсем перекодировщик. В качестве GUI могу посоветовать acidrip (доступны только основные команды перекодировки). Если нужен продвинутый Гуй, то используй мою программу «Хризопея» (http://linuxforum.ru/index.php?showtopic=76355).

постепенно разбираюсь с avidemux (пока только через GUI им пользуюсь)
пока два вопроса —
умеет ли он конвертировать в wmv?
можно ли при переконвертации менять разрешение с 1080 на 720р?

а вообще мечтаю о скрипте, который парсит директории с mkv-фильмами, сам ноходит русские аудиотреки (если они в отдельном файле), и загоняет все это в wmv-файлы, с именами, соответствующими имени директории
чтобе переписав новые фильмы, можно было оставить на ночь комп, а наутро получить готовые переконвертированные файлы, которые потом спокойно смотреть на xbox360 (я в последнее время склоняюсь к мысли именно его использовать в качестве плеера)

да, это видимо самый правильный путь.
но я чего-то не могу бокс заставить воспроизводить авишки. я подключил его к инету, запустил воспроизводить mov-файл (h.264, снятый цифровой HD-камерой), он качнул обновления, и начал его воспроизводить.
а вот на авишки не реагирует, говорит формат неправильный, и ничего обновить не пытается. аналогично с mp4.
пробовал с разными файлами — которые нашлись на винте, и с фильмом, который сконвертировал в avi (кодирован h.264)

и насчет ts — я так понял, в avidemux это Format MPEG-TS (A+V)?
если h.264 mkv фильм пытаться так сохранить, то он говорит «This is not MPEG compatible. You cannot use copy codec»
т.е. надо перегонять в MPEG-2, а тогда весь смысл теряется

But I there is significant quality loss because bit rate decreased from 32.3 Mbps to 2.8 Mbps. How can I specify right bit rate for video stream, and left all other stream copied pristine?

The scale video filter is for resizing the video. You just set one size – which is the height in this example – and use -1 for the other dimension. ffmpeg will recalculate the correct value automatically while preserving the aspect ratio.

Quality controlled with the -crf option:

The range of the quantizer scale is 0-51: where 0 is lossless, 23 is default, and 51 is worst possible. A lower value is a higher quality and a subjectively sane range is 18-28. Consider 18 to be visually lossless or nearly so: it should look the same or nearly the same as the input but it isn’t technically lossless.

The range is exponential, so increasing the CRF value +6 is roughly half the bitrate while -6 is roughly twice the bitrate. General usage is to choose the highest CRF value that still provides an acceptable quality. If the output looks good, then try a higher value and if it looks bad then choose a lower value.

You control the tradeoff between video encoding speed and compression efficiency with the -preset options. Those are ultrafast, superfast, veryfast, faster, fast, medium, slow, slower, veryslow. Default is medium. The veryslow option offers the best compression efficiency (resulting in a smaller file size for the same quality) but it is very slow – as the name says.

The audio will be stream copied directly from the input file to the output file without any changes.
