Touchpad not working in ubuntu on ideapad S145-15IIL

Hi, I have just bought a Lenovo IdeaPad s145-15IIL. I tried it with Windows 10 and there ware no problems. So I tried to install ubuntu. Since the installation, the pointer of the mouse was stacked in the center of the screen and I can’t move it with the touchpad but only with the mouse. So I tried to install a derivate (Kubuntu) but the problem was the same. I tried both LTS and 19.10 of ubuntu and Kubuntu but the problem persists. I tried to read some online guide and I found out that in the list of inputs there was no touchpad detected. I’m wondering how to enable the support of my touchpad to Linux.

Have you updated the BIOS to the latest version? I had the same issue with a thinkook 14IML and it was solved with a bios update.

Hi, the problem will not be solved by switching linux distibutions. This ideapad uses the Elantech touchpad. This is a kernel bug but the developers have not yet fixed it. I had responded to a similar post like this is askubuntu, here is the link of my reply https://askubuntu.com/a/1266740/1115977
