Настройка изображения при загрузке системы

Я использую Linux Mint. По дефолту в этой системе стоит не самый красивый логотип, появляющийся во время непосредственной загрузки системы. Вот его изображение: http://pad2.whstatic.com/images/thumb/0/0d/Install-Linux-Mint-Step-15.jpg/670.

Мне это не очень нравится, и я хочу задать несколько вопросов:

1. Как называется это изображение? Подобные картинки/анимации появляются во всех ubuntu-based дистрибутивах при загрузке, у этого явления точно должно быть название.

2. Можно ли его убрать?

3. Можно ли поставить другое изображение, вместо этого?

4. Есть ли подобные изображения на выбор?

Мне нужно оттолкнуться хотя бы от одного. Узнать название и убрать — уже хорошо, остальное опционально, хотя ответы мне будут интересны.

plymouth-theme
я её вообще не ставлю, мелькнёт на пару секунд, лог загрузки красивее выглядит и полезнее порой

можно и просто от рут в /lib/plymouth/theme картинку поменять (background вроде зовётся) и потом update-initramfs — u запустить
только это типа некорректно, обновится если потом плимут при обновлении и снова придётся так сделать

Хорошо, я понял, что эта ерунда называется plymouth. Поможет ли мне команда «apt-get remove plymouth*»? Не наебну ли я чего-нибудь случайно? Ни одна из тем мне не понравилась, так что обычный лог мне подойдёт.

Не силён в *бунтах, но просто убрать splash из параметров запуска ядра — не то? Ещё говорят, что может оказаться достаточно plymouth.conf переименовать во что-нибудь другое.

можно просто удалить в /etc/default/grub между кавычками 2 слова quiet splash и потом выполнить update-grub

и тем валом на том же gnome-look

apt-get remove plymouth* по зависимостям может потащить чего, хз

quiet лучше не убирать, лог ядра слишком подробный, а для хакира и лог загрузки системы сойдёт.

Начиная с какой-то версии systemd с quiet консоль вообще пустая.

Не наблюдаю у себя в минте (17.1) systemd.

В эпоху SSD и systemd люди ещё озабочены бутсплэшами.

/boot/grub2/grub.cfg правим ручками секцию с настройкой изозагрузки (это если загрузчик grub2)

если загрузчик grub (а не grub2) то правим ручками бут/груб/менюлист!

для grub2 темы картинок лежат в /boot/grub2/themes

C 17.2 в минте Systemd? Можно пруфы?

Упс, ошибся. Планируют с 17.3, похоже.

Да не груб мне нужен, бля. Груб и plymouth — разные вещи.

17.3 планируется на базе 15.04. Хотя пока не понятно. Могут и до 18.х отложить внедрение, пока не будет нового LTS от убунты.

В общем, нашёл довольно годную утилиту «plymouth manager», которая, правда, не может отключить сам plymouth (хотя кнопка там такая есть) и не может обнаружить новые темы в основной папке plymouth. Ну, подозреваю, что это только у меня так.

Убрать её полностью у меня не получилось, зато нашёл классную тему http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Starry Night Plymouth Theme?content=17. , очень красиво, и пингвин похож на Фау-1. Её и поставил.

Кстати, убирал с помощью grub-customizer quiet splash, и не помогло. Ну, не важно. Хотя бы не придётся видеть поделие глубоко больных дизайнеров linux mint, которые умудрились на одну картинку запихнуть и зелёный, и белый, и чёрный цвета. Надеюсь, они сделают редизайн, а лучше и ребрендинг.

Thanks everyone for helping me out here, but I gots another question/problem.

When you initially install LM 15 you have this cool logo thing on startup that slowly fades into view. Well now its gone for some reason and all I get is a boring «Linux Mint 15» text and little dots. ZZzzz

How do I get my cool logo back?

I think you mean the greeter . ..

not at a linux machine to check but it’s in your system settings, sure it’s under login, sorry can’t be more accurate, you’ll find it though . .

The screen I’m talking about is attached. this shows up, while the system loads.

Yes this did change the login screen, but what I’m referring to is not the login screen, its the screen you get immediately after you select your OS in grub.

I used to have a black screen when I booted up instead of the Linux Mint logo. Then I found a website which gave these instructions on how to fix the issue and it worked well for me. I now have Linux MInt on view when I load up. These were the commands to type in the terminal. Type them in one at a time and press ‘Enter’ each time.

sudo update-alternatives —config default.plymouth

At this point it would be a good thing to restart your computer to see this has succeeded. If you get a success but the Plymouth splash (Linux Mint logo) stays for only a fleeting few seconds, then you could type in this command as well to fix the delayed loading of the splash screen. Again, type the following commands one at a time and press ‘Enter’ each time. To make sure you get the command right, you could copy and paste instead of type.

Убрать логотип при загрузке Linux Mint

По умолчанию, процесс загрузки Linux Mint начинается с появления логотипа и нескольких точек под ним, которые попеременно вспыхивают слева направо. Но на одном из моих компьютеров вокруг точек прорисовывается непонятный ореол. Подобная ситуация приводила к тому, что меня охватывала «нервенная дрожь», так как возникала мысль о том, что графическая карта NVidia начинала работать неправильно.

При установке проприетарного драйвера NVidia одна их моих систем переходила в режим 1024×768 при разрешении экрана монитора 1280×1024. Может быть, конечно, это так взаимодействовал с системой монитор Philips, но даже после удаления драйвера NVidia система отказывалась правильно определять размеры экрана монитора и это приходилось делать принудительно.

Поэтому было решено выключить отображение логотипа в загрузчике. В сети можно найти много публикаций по правке настроек загрузчика Grub, но наиболее удобно это будет делать в Grub Customizer.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:danielrichter2007/grub-customizer && sudo apt update && sudo apt install grub-customizer

После установки Grub Customizer появится в разделе «Система» главного меню.

За настройку загрузчика отвечает файл grub.cfg

Если Вам «страшно», то Вы можете сделать его резервную копию, перед тем как начнёте вносить в него изменения. Кроме того, дополнительные параметры загрузчика определяются значения переменных в файле /etc/default/grub

Запускаю программу и перехожу в раздел «Основные настройки».

За отображение логотипа в загрузчике отвечает настройка «Параметры ядра». По умолчанию стоит значение quiet splash. Пробую убрать splash, оставив только quiet.

Перезагружаюсь. Вместо логотипа Linux Mint с точками под ним появляется только текст

Scanning for Btrfs file systems
/dev/sda1: clean, . files, . blocks

Вместо многоточий отображаются цифры, соответствующие количеству файлов и блоков на разделе sda1/

Через несколько секунд появляется приглашение к вводу пароля или рабочий стол, если у Вас настроен автоматический вход в учётную запись.

Если удалить ещё и quiet, то после рестарта системы Вы будете налюдать отображение загрузки системы в текстовом режиме.

the live USB. It seemed to install OK and I got the message at the end saying «installation complete»

When i boot up it seems to get as far a the green Mint logo and then just hangs there with the logo in the center of the screen. Then I have no chice but to kill the power.
Any idea why and how to fix it? I can give you more info if you tell me what you need.

It seems to run from the live USB OK but may take several attempts to boot up (again stalls at the Mint logo). Before installing I went into BIOS setup and disabled UEFI and selected Legacy instead becasue thats what I’ve done before. I have also used this USB to install Mint on two other PC’s so I dont think its the USB at fault.

Any help appreciated. Thanks

Can you switch terminals by hitting «Ctrl» + «alt» + any of the «F» keys (F1, F2, F3, etc)? This could allow you to log in to a text terminal at which point we could potentially do some more troubleshooting.

The other option is when you see the grub screen, press «e». This will allow you to modify kernel parameters at boot. You should see a line that says something along the lines of:

No. it’s completely frozen at the logo. Nothing works

(I can only switch to a terminal when booted from the Live USB) (Also it seems a bit reluctant/slow to boot from the Live USB and tend to hang at the logo here as well. However, if I try several times I can get it to boot)

Ok have done that. After hitting F10 text scrolls and the last two lines read:

(I will try reinstalling with UEFI enabled if we hit a dead end above but prefer to try thihs way first)

Any ideas on how ro proceed?
should I try UEFI? qnd what are the ramifications of this?

OK I tried switching the boot to UEFI. However, it would not recognise the Live USB, «no bootable drive»

Back to Legacy again and a fresh install. What is interesting is even running the Live USB it takes several attempts for it to boot. Again it hangs at the Mint logo. After several tries I managed to get it to boot and then reinstalled again. However, once the install is complete it still hangs at the mint logo every time.
I don’t understand what is going on but from the output I described above it seems to not want to load modules.

So please anyone where do I go from here? There must be a way around this isn’t there??

The last line of the text log actually lists quite a number of starting and then stopping processes before the boot fails. I’m happy to give more specific info or outputs if someone will tell me what you need.

This is most frustrating and I simply dont have the expertise to figure out whats going on that causes the boot to stop at the Mint logo.

Oh and I don’t supppose that the fact that i’m using a solid state drive in this machine has any bearing on the problem does it?

I’m not a tech head and am fumbling around rather blind here. However, I’ve been trying a few things to resolve the above probelm and get Mint to boot and function on this new laptop. This is what I have found so far:

1 . At the GRUB menu if I select Compatabilty Mode (Recovery mode?), let that lode and then choose the option to «resume normal boot» it will in fact boot up to the desktop albeit minus a few drivers.

2. I remembered something i read a while back.
I hit «E» at the GRUB menu to get the kernel parameters page. I then added the words «NO_ACPI» after the words «QUIET SPLASH»
Then F10 to resume boot. It then booted up OK!! (WiFi and screen brightness control don’t seem to work but we’ll sort that later)

What does this mean. I am not techy enough to interpret what this means exactly but it must tell us something doesn’t it?
Please help. anyone, i’m desperate here!

ACPI is used for power handling. I’m by no means an engineer so I dont know what low level functionality it actually deals with but could lead to explain why your screen diming functionality is gone.

Have you tried this parameter?

Also have you checked to see if there is a bios update for your computer? Some online research seems to point towards a faulty bios.

Well that had exactly the same effect as the no_acpi code. It allowed me to boot for that one time only and no brightness functioanlity. TBH I’m less concerned about the brightness issue right now as that can be addressed later. For now though I just wnat to get it to boot and not stall at the logo!

Whats interesting is that editing the kernal parameters at boot up will allow me to boot for the first time only. Subsequent attempts it doesnt work, then my only option is to go via recovery mode and then back to normal boot.
