You don’t have 32-bit libraries for OpenGL installed.

Linux is too much work. I know windows is buggy, but dammit, in linux the only app that installed and ran without error is dolphin. Different commands for different distros, needed sudo sh to install nvidia driver, and everyone in the mint IRC is like fk nvidia, people are like wtf SH nvidia.
The snapshots make recovery easy, but getting things started is ridiculous.
Couldn’t run bash commands in that distro?
Each distro has their own app manager / app store but they don’t really work

What did you do to install steam?
I’m basically completely new to linux myself but I just installed steam from
apt install steam
and it just worked
yep as an experienced Debian / Ubuntu / Mint User .
enable multiverse / universe / restricted in Software Settings and it will show up as :
steam-installer, steam-devices, and steam:i386
or use the apt command from above in terminal once the «Sources» above have been selected:
It WILL Install perfectly in ALLLL Debian Flavours (Debian / Ubuntu / Mint)

how do you rollback/undo package versions?
im a Fedora/Centos user, did try Debian based dristros in the past, but cant seem to like apt
with yum/dnf you can «undo a transaction», which saved me a few times when testing stuff/fooling around
i wonder how this kind of thing are done with apt and the like
i tried searching the web, but all answers seem to point to «thats a Windows thing, Linux does not work like that», followed by a wall of useless text.
On Linux Mint there are a few options:

2- for PPAs that you may need to roll back to repo version of packages: use the purge PPAs script linked inside Software Sources
+ whatever terminal commands may work with ubuntu (that I never needed so am not familiar with. )
You simply install the desired version over the other version using a force option.
Generally you don’t need to install an older version unless you have a bad upgrade from a non-repository source.
My error now is this when i execute steam:

Проблема со steam — не запускается.
началось все с ubuntu 14.04 x64/ linux mint 17.1 x64 — сначала все нормально, потом через несколько дней (сейчас xubuntu 15.04 x64 выхлоп тот же самый):

Устанавливал:
Система xubuntu 15.04 64bit
после установки выполнял:
— apt-get update
— apt-get dist-upgrade
— установил пропр. драйвера nvidia 340.76
— скачал/установил файл steam.deb с офф. сайта
— запускал steam-launcher — скачивались доп. пакеты
— появилось окно ввода логина/пароля
— появилось основное окно — переключил на русский язык — перезапустил
— начал устанавливать игру, где-то на 55% скачивания игры — окно steam пропало
— далее вышеуказанный лог
Раньше такой проблемы не было. Сначала появилась проблема в xubuntu 14.04 x64 — из-за этого перешел на linux mint 17.1 xfce edition — через месяц проблема повторилась. Примечательно что в интернете не нашел информации на эту тему, как будто только у меня такая проблема 🙂

The AMD Catalyst (fglrx) drivers are not compatible with Xorg 1.18, which is the version used in Linux Mint 18.
These drivers are proprietary and so their code is not available. AMD indicated they no longer wanted to support them and urged their customers to use open-source drivers instead.
If you are using an ATI GPU in Linux Mint 18, the operating system will either select the Radeon or AMDGPU drivers for you, and these are installed by default.
