@a.shahbazi Sorry for inconvenience, I’ll re-provide these modules soon.

Update: I’ve checked linux-zen kernel config, it has already enabled these options.

a.shahbazi commented on 2021-03-26 04:36

Is there any reason why the ashmem and binder modules aren’t compiled anymore? (these modules are needed to be able to use Anbox since the dkms modules provided by the project don’t work with 5.7+ kernels.)

l0snight commented on 2020-09-14 10:42

I have seen that anbox is supported, thank you.

l0snight commented on 2020-09-14 08:10

Dose it support anbox now?

Can you add anbox support in your kernel’s config?

Can you add the fsync patch to your kernel ?

You need to update your PKGBUILD from the git repo, it does build fine now.

The only change was commenting out the permission changing lines that you’re crashing at.

Best commented on 2021-09-29 16:43

Tried many times, same thing happens every time on 2 computers. 5.14.7 was working fine.

Please try again.

5.14.8 suddenly wil not build correct..

==> Starting package_linux-zen-git-headers(). -> Installing files necessary for 3rd party modules such as NVIDIA drivers or OSSv4. -> Fixing permissions on scripts directory. ==> ERROR: A failure occurred in package_linux-zen-git-headers(). Aborting.

ilikenwf commented on 2020-06-03 19:57

I’m sorry you don’t know what you’re talking about.

I haven’t updated to the 5.7 branch yet but the zen devs don’t always have it out same day.

In addition, it’s a git pkgbuild, if you’re in a hurry just modify it yourself and flag it out of date instead of complaining.

u666sa commented on 2020-06-03 19:55

It’s not up to date! Today is June, last updated in April. I rather use this and compile for my architecture than use recompiled. However, it’s not up to date.

ilikenwf commented on 2019-05-27 21:15

This is the same kernel as liquorix/lqx, and there’s a precompiled linux-zen in community also. Damentz and some others manage it and do a great job choosing features and patches to enhance desktop responsiveness.

jessymilare commented on 2019-05-27 15:47

I compiled linux-zen with some custom configuration and ran some benchmarks to check the difference in performance. I’m very happy with the results. The only three tests that this kernel was considerably slower were the Apache test (which I don’t care, this is a desktop kernel anyway), the context switching stress-ng test and schbench 8 threads (my CPU have 2 cores and 4 threads, I’ve noticed lack of responsiveness when more than 4 processes are consuming CPU).

Note that these benchmarks are not scientific. I’ll try to recompile linux-zen with localyesconfig and upload more results.

Seems like the first time on every new kernel point release lately it does not build with the config that is in the build dir, but some wierd one that does not even boot properly (with lots of auditing in dmesg). When I check the src/build dir the .config file there is correct, and a makepkg -f build the correct kernel.

Whats happening now?

@francoism90 I don’t have access to the zfs-utils package on the aur, so I can’t update it. You can use https://github.com/archzfs/zfs-utils if you don’t want to wait for the zfs-utils maintainer.

This cannot be build without a proper zfs-utils=0.8.0 😐

@kylemd They added a new patch. Time to modify the sequence of the patches

Actually I can read the sequence of patch from their kernel.spec file. Let me see how it goes.

Deprecation of linux-zen-g14

I originally started maintaining this package because of the CPU frequency bug in 2020, which had been fixed in the following kernel versions. So the purpose of me updating it disappeared back then. All of the patches applied to it right now doesn’t benefit my use anymore, and thus, I’ve decided to step down. If someone is willing to maintain this package, just adopt it. If not, you can just use linux-g14 instead, which has patches for more models and even provides binary packages.

Thank everyone for supporting me in the past year.

[Solved] Linux Zen Headers

The Linux Zen headers packages from the official repositories does not provide linux headers so when trying to build a DKMS module makepkg wants me to install the vanilla headers and I don’t even have that kernel installed.

Am I doing anything wrong or should I open a bug report?

Re: [Solved] Linux Zen Headers

What dkms package depends on linux-headers? That is wrong. It should depend on dkms which in turn lists all the *-headers packages as optional dependencies.

EDIT: And I’ve yet to find a main repo -dkms package that depends on a specific kernel or headers.

Re: [Solved] Linux Zen Headers

It’s needed for wireless (Bluetoooth) support for an Xbox One gamepad.

The package does have dkms in depends and also linux-headers. So that is the error? Just edit out linux headers and drop a note for the maintainer?

#4 2018-10-28 03:06:41

Re: [Solved] Linux Zen Headers

It seems there are many -headers packages in the AUR where the packager opted to list ‘linux-headers’ under the provides, but this seems quite wrong to me: and this is not what is done in repo packages. I’d remove that dependency.

The whole idea of dkms is that modules can be built for any custom kernel.
