Disable password after sleep in Windows 10

I have tried everything and looks in countless community discussions and help pages.

Does anyone have a solution .

Did you search Power & Sleep from the main Settings window?

I dont have that message in red that you have. Tends to make me wonder if your settings for sleep are zero’d out, set to never sleep? or something other than normal.

Then select in menu «Blank» unless you want a screen saver, then select another one in the list.

Then leave the box UNCHECKED. Click Apply, OK

This use to on other versions, stop you from having to enter password after sleep, hibernate or after the screen saver came on.

It shows 1 minute in my example. use this to test.

Then select your power setting «Change Plan Setting»

Set at 1 minute and 2 minutes as show and save changes. This is all for testing, you can change the screen saver and turn off display settings later. they are essentially the same, so set them the same. You can also set the sleep time later after test.

Log off and log back on to desktop. move your mouse a couple times during log on to prevent the screensaver or sleep until all services are running, about 3 minutes after log on. then do not touch anything and display will go off at 1 minute and sleep will begin after 2 minutes. Then wait about another minute or so 4 minutes total and move mouse or hit keyboard key and see if it is on desktop or back to lock/sign on screen to enter password.

Tnx for your reply but i still got the problem.

I did everything you showed me. Now the screen turn off after one minute and it does not ask for the password when i activate the pc again. So far so good.

But it doesn’t go to sleep after 2 minutes. The harddisk keeps running.

And when i use the power button > sleep in the bottom left corner the pc sleeps. BUT still asks for the password when waking up again.

Ya well Microsoft is stripping a lot of control from people and features. personally I do not sleep or hibernate and all of my PC’s or laptops, the hard drives have been running nonstop 24/7/365 on them all for years now on 4 of them, and 9 years on one of them and logged in all the time.

Microsoft has gotten security conscience. In Vista and later versions, they forced you to create a password for user accounts, but I seen a post here recently that someone wanted their PC to stop auto logging in after a restart, so they did not obviously have a password and they entered one and it stopped. So I say to go to user account settings and see if you can remove your password, restart PC and then test sleep.
