Folder Lock — отличная программа для защиты информации от посторонних глаз. Позволяет скрывать определенные файлы, папки и диски, шифровать их и устанавливать на них пароль.

Файлы кодируются и «прячутся» таким образом, что для посторонних людей, найти их на диске по имени или любым другим способом, а также использовать, становится невозможным. Закрытые программой данные не будут видны в окне Проводника, а при щелчке на защищенном диске Windows сообщит об ошибке доступа к устройству.

Приложение делает файлы недоступными даже для вирусов, троянов, червей и шпионских программ. Помимо этого, способно блокировать доступ к данным на флэшках, картах памяти, CD/CD-RW, дискетах и ноутбуках. Для получения доступа к спрятанным данным достаточно запустить Folder Lock и ввести правильный пароль. Управление программой очень простое, присутствует поддержка drag & drop.

Обзовите меня как хотите, но подскажите. После нажатия в окне программы на значок сверху второй справа она просто перестала запускаться, хотя ярлык торчит как ни в чем не бывало, и в свойствах не вижу изменений. Ладно, я уже вынул свою папку.

Ставил подобную прогу. Накрылся Виндовс. и все файлы накрылись с ним же. Хотя все файлы хранились на диске «Д». Не знаю может я тупой?

How To Password Protect a Folder in Windows 10

We all have computer files we’d like to keep secret from the world, but not everyone knows how to password protect a folder in Windows 10. Whether you’re hiding notes from someone with access to your computer or (hopefully) something less drastic, you’re allowed to have some privacy. Fortunately, in Windows 10, you can tuck those unmentionable plans or files in a secret folder that is password protected, and you can do it without buying any additional software. Once you’ve created a new folder in Windows 10, here’s how to password protect it.

A note before you start:

We’ve received comments about issues people have run into with this how-to. So, we went back and performed multiple rounds of testing internally, and can now confirm that following this process closely, step-by-step, works — at least on our end.

But just to be safe, you should first try this how-to using files that you can afford to lose, just in case the method doesn’t work for you. Also, make sure you’re keeping some record, somewhere, of the exact password you’re using to lock your folder. If you lose the password, your files are gone, and since every computer is different, we can’t deduce exactly what went wrong on your end.

Also, yes, the FolderLocker file can be reverse engineered by someone who understands the process, but this isn’t meant to keep tech-savvy folks out, just nosy family members who you don’t trust.

Tips from readers:

• Do not use a password with a space, it may create an issue with the batch file.
• Yes, files placed in your locked folder can appear in Recent Files list in various apps, such as Microsoft Word.

Here’s how to password protect a folder in Windows 10, so you can fill it with files you want to keep secret — and how to lock it, open it and repeat.

How To Lock a Folder With a Password in Windows 10

1. Right-click inside the folder where the files you want to protect are located. The folder you want to hide can even be on your desktop.

2. Select «New» from the contextual menu.

3. Click on «Text Document.»

4. Hit Enter. It doesn’t matter what the file will be named. You can delete this text file once the lockable folder has been made.

5. Double-click the text file to open it.

6. Paste the below text into the new document:

7. Find where it says «Your-Password-Here» in the document.

8. Replace «Your-Password-Here» with the password you want to lock the folder with.

9. Click File.

10. «Select Save As. «

11. Click on the «Text Documents (*.txt)» menu bar that’s next to «Save as type:»

12. Select «All Files»

13. Change the file name to «FolderLocker.bat»

14. Click «Save.»

15. Double-click FolderLocker.

The Locker folder has been generated!

16. Fill the Locker folder with the items you want to protect.

17. Open the FolderLocker file, because it’s time to lock that folder up!

18. Type «Y» into the screen.

19. Click Enter, and the Folder Locker window will disappear, along with the Locker folder itself! Your secrets are safe!

To unlock the folder, double-click «FolderLocker» to open it.

Enter the password you entered in Step 8, and click Enter.

The Locker folder is back. You can open it to find your hidden files. Repeat Steps 17, 18 and 19 to lock the folder again.

How to Use Fold­er Lock on Win­dows to Lock and Secure Files

We have covered a lot of apps for Android and iOS that can lock your Apps, save photos in a vault and even encrypt the entire memory. But that’s just for your smartphone. If we need something to secure the mere 8 to 16 gigs of memory on our phones, there might be a lot of things you have stored on your PC which, for sure, need a second layer of security.

Answering that concern, let’s look at an app dedicated to Windows that can securely save and encrypt the files.

Let’s get started and install Folder Lock on the computer.

File Check: I have tested Folder Lock v7.5 freeware on my computer and the installer file was clean as a whistle. The file was downloaded directly from NewSoftwares servers and had no bloatware attached.

Securing Files using Folder Lock

The first time you install the app, it will ask you to set a master password. Once you set a password, make sure you make a note of it on your online account. As there’s no way you can retrieve your password and even NewSoftwares support won’t be able to retrieve the locked files for you in case of a lost password.

Once you are in, the very first module that you will see is Lock Files. Here you can lock files, folders, and even an entire drive. Simply drag and drop the files or the folders to lock them instantly or add them manually using the app. The files that are locked using the app stay hidden unless you unlock them. This module however only hides your files and doesn’t encrypt. If you need an added encryption security, you will have to create a lock using the second module.

Using Folder Lock, you can create encrypted lockers and securely save files in there. Click on the option Encrypt Files and then create a new locker. The locker can have a different password than the master password and while you are making one, you will have to pre-allocate the disk space.

For example, if you are creating a locker for 300Mb, the space would be delegated to the locker instantly and will be mapped as an additional disk drive. You can save the files you would like and once the locker is closed, the files will be encrypted. These lockers can be copied to the USB drive and can be made portable and executable.

Cool Tip: Folder Lock also features file shredder and history cleaner under the Extra setting.

Additional Features

Under Folder Lock Settings, you can choose to auto-lock the vault and all the drives when you exit the app. These settings are found under Auto Protection and you can set an ideal timeout period before the lockers and hidden files are securely closed. The Hack Security section will record any incorrect password attempts.

Stealth mode is the one feature I like the best. Using this feature you can assign a particular hotkey to launch Folder Lock application and then hide the files from Start menu, Desktop, and even from Program Files. But make sure you always remember the hotkey assigned to Folder Mount or you might end up losing all the data you have stored. The feature is indeed innovative, but has risks involved with it.
