Here’s how to install native UVC drivers for your Logitech webcam:
Open Device Manager.
Expand Imaging devices.
Locate the name of your Logitech camera in the list and right-click on it.
Select Update Driver Software.
Click Browse my computer for driver software.
Click Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
Check Show compatible hardware, and then select USB Video Device.
Click Next and follow the on-screen instructions to update the driver.

My C270 does not show up under Imaging Devices, it is showing under Camera as USB Video Device. It does not recognize it as a logitech product. It will not allow me to install the UVC drivers because it is not under Imaging Device.

Thanks for following up. Kindly follow the steps mentioned below to resolve the issue.

Try a different USB port on your computer.

Make sure the camera isn’t connected to a USB hub or docking station.

Make sure you’re using the correct driver for your camera by selecting the Downloads tab on your product’s support page.

If your camera is connected to a USB 3.0 port (usually has a blue plastic insert), try using a USB 2.0 port instead.

Try connecting the camera to a different computer.

I just went to the Logitech site and it explicitly says the C270 doesn’t support Linux:

Sorry about that. I was looking for decent Linux compatible camera too.

That logitech does not support linux, does not entail that linux does not support logitech cameras.

To the OP: follow the first bit of advice, run cheese from cli, and paste any error output.

Hi you all,
I reckon this is an old post, but still.

I’m looking for a good webcam to be used in an old PC running Lubuntu 12.04 and I’m tempted to buy a C270. I wonder if you could eventually make it work in Ubuntu, despite the Logitech disclaimer.

Hi, everybody! My c270 works out-of-the-box in Ubuntu 12.04 x64.
Didn’t test the sound yet, but the pic is definitely there. Tested with Skype and cheese.

Can I download the, meant for Windows, software for the Logitech C270 in Mint 19.1 , off of the Logitech internet site?
I have cheese, and it works fine, but I cant control the zoom and wide angle adjustments without the Logitech software.

I already did a search in here, on the internet, and Youtube. Nothing has addressed this.

My favorite webcam applications are «guvcview» and the new «webcamoid».

I would also recommend searching the «Synaptic Package Manager (SPM)» for «V4L» (video for Linux) and installing those (v4l2ucp, etc. ) packages.

I did try to install Webcamoid from the repository but it didn’t take.

I’ll try the commands you gave me here and report back.

I updated my reply when you replied.

I have the same camera, but I do not get actual physical zooming from it, only software zooming.

«webcamoid» has been greatly updated and has various installation options in the link I provided including an AppImage.

Have you searched for and installed the V4L packages? If not do that too along with ffmpeg, x264, x265.

I updated my previous reply with more information.

I do not get any zoom options with the Logitech c270 using guvcview or webcamoid. Other models of Logitech do have hardware zoom, pan, and tilt, etc.

When I check the camera’s capabilities using the video for linux commands (see last link in prev. reply or this reply), I do not get any zoom features.

I would recommend using the webcamoid AppImage where you save the file, give yourself permission to run it (right-click properties, permissions tab, apply), then double-click it.

You can change the various resolutions of the camera in effect giving you more or less of your camera’s «field of view» which is good.

Настройка вебкамеры Logitech c270

Здравствуйте. Я полный новичок в линуксе. Возникла проблема с установкой камеры Logitech C270. Насколько я понял, эту вебку поддерживает драйвер linux-uvc (на странице поддерживаемых устройств www.ideasonboard.org/uvc/ она есть в списке). При введении в терминал lsusb она идентифицируется:

Bus 001 Device 003: ID 046d:0825 Logitech, Inc. Webcam C270

как гласит арчвики, linux-uvc является частью ядра, и необходимо всего лишь загрузить uvcvideo module.
Насколько я понял это делается командой modprobe uvcvideo, однако при введении её в терминал ничего не происходит.

Выполнение других 2х команд даёт такие результаты:
