LonelyScreen is a AirPlay receiver for Windows and MAC. It is like an Apple TV running on your desktop. You can cast anying from your iPhone or iPad to your computer screen just like a Apple TV.

To use LonelyScreen, what app should I install on my iPhone/iPad?

Nothing. You don’t need to install anything on your iPhone/iPad. You just need install LonelyScreen on your Windows or Mac.

Does LonelyScreen support airplay mirroring?

Yes. You can cast your iPhone/iPad screen mirroring to your computer via LonelyScreen. You can also cast movies and music to your Windows or Mac via LonelyScreen.

How to install LonelyScreen?

1. Download LonelyScreen installer and install

2. Run.

LonelyScreen will run automaticlly once installed. A main window will pop up. Its default receiver name is «LonelyScreen». You can click the name to change it to whatever you want.

3. Enjoy

Now you can use your iPhone or iPad to cast movies, musics or screen mirroring to your computer screen now

Why my AirPlay icon is missing? Why there is no AirPlay icon for LonelyScreen on my iDevices?

If you can not find AirPlay icon on your iPhone/iPad, try these steps

Check the firewall on your computer. You must allow LonelyScreen to communicate through Windows/Mac Firewall.
How to allow LonelyScreen to communicate through Windows/Mac Firewall?
Check if your iDevice support AirPlay. AirPlay is supported on following iDevices.
- iPhone 4S or newer
- iPad 2 or newer
- iPad mini or newer
- iPod Touch 5+
Make sure that you have the latest software on your iOS device.
Make sure that your iOS device has Wi-Fi turned on.
Make sure that your computer is connected to same LAN.
Reboot your iOS device.

Buggy but functional

Overall, I like the functionality of the App but there are several bugs that need to be ddressed. For example, the App generates documents to store settings for a variety of wallpapers that you might want to setup. When you open the App though, it always creates a new document instead of opening the document that relates to the currently displayed wallpaper. The most common use of the app once initially setup is to re-adjust the layout becuase it seems to change slightly every time I plug back in to my monitors. So, this means that at least once a day I am going in to tweak something and always have to go through the hasle of deleting the newly created document and then confirming that I really want to delete it. Also, It always takes a launch, followed by a quit followed by another launch each day before the App starts working. The first time it comes up none of the menu items are clickable. It is like it just freezes upon the first launch of the day but the second launch always fixes it. Ultimatley there are a lot of small bugs in the system but once you get past those I do like the capability that I get form the App.

Interesting suggestion re opening the current _applied_ wallpaper. I hadn’t thought of that. Currently it uses the standard document approach of opening your most recently _opened_ wallpaper.

Great progress

I got this app originally years ago. It didn’t have what I was looking for then but I’m pretty sure now it does. The ability to tap into Unsplash is also a really neat feature. Two things that might help you move the progress of this app even futher.

If I like a background on Unsplash, it might be nice to download that image right from the menu bar interface.

The next option I think could help is define a minimum pixel width when searching the Unsplash library. A few results have come up pixelated in my short testing time. I’m a stickler when making my own panoramas to make sure that the ones I choose for backgrounds are only a set amount of pixels wide.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for giving the auto change and spaces sync features. Windows machines have had this for YEARS and this is a huge help to keep me in the OS I actually enjoy using.

Build something more than just a wallpaper

This app is fantastic, as is the developer. Having a large scenic and expansive desktop image has allowed me to feel a little like I haven’t been completely stuck at home these last months. This app will tap into a large range of free high-resolution databases, chop an image into a set of precisely scaled parts, and transport you to another place. More than this, the developer is constantly releasing improvements or new integrations. They have even addressed issues directly with me on several occasions.

I’ve used this app for over a little over a year and a half and it truly makes you feel like you get the most out of your set up. I find it relaxing to peer over the edge of the grand canyon, stare up a ridgeline to the top of the Matterhorn, or look off hopefully at a faraway skyline. It helps you quickly build something more than just a wallpaper.

Works Better Than Google Tranlator

When I try using Google Translate to translate a web page with a link inn it, Google say that the linked page is not valid. But, when I use the iText to translathe same page, it will translate the whole page and the also translates the link on the page also. Works Very Well!! Love it.

Wonderful ORC Product!

Conclusion: Recognition is good in general but need tiny adjustment. Handwriting recognition should be improved.

To be frank, I’m a loyal user of Mr. Zheng’s product family. And this new product “iText» really amaze me.
To back it firmly, I did some test. From easy to hard are word typed in onenote, image from google image and handwriting in onenote.
It performs English recognition outstandingly. I just tried using it in my onenote notes, with Helvetica Neue as well as times new roman. the result is good but it could be better. quite often the app mis-recognized the case of the word like “Modeling a project” to “MOdeling a project”. Besides, it fails to recognize return symbol “\n” and space symbol.

As for image recognition, that’s perfect, except you have to do some little revise manually. And the “little” is really “little” within human’s scale lol.

However, when it comes to handwriting recognition, the test result is far from satisifying… It even recognized some symbols as Chinese characters, that’s funny. But I still can see its potentiality.

Anyway, it is still a good app, as before, as always.

To be honest, the recognition work is done by Google. iText mainly work on optimizing the result from Google, e.g., remove extra space, capitalize the first letter, etc. And you’re right, Google’s handwriting ability isn’t that good now.

Super useful

I get a lot of letters in German which I can’t understand, and since they’re images I couldn’t select them. until I found this app 😊 Now it’s as easy as selecting, and I get the text instantly scanned AND translated. Hooray!

The only thing I’d like is for the UI to share the translated text differently (like Google Translate does) so it’s easier to tell them apart.
