Question: Q: How can I quickly change the keyboard language in macOS Sierra?

I would like to switch between keyboard languages quickly on my MacBook, such as a keystroke. On Windows computers you can switch between keyboard languages by pressing Ctrl + Shift or Alt + Shift. I haven’t found such an option for macOS Sierra.

The only way I see to switch between keyboard languages is by clicking the flag at the top and clicking the other language. It may not take too much time, but it’s a hassle when I want to switch in and out of another language quickly.

I’ve read that there was an option to switch keyboard languages in previous versions of macOS.

Before El Capitan, the standard shortcut for this was Command + Space. Depending on how you update to Sierra, you could still have this as your shortcut. But if you have a new install of Sierra, it should be Control + Space, as described in the info provided by becky_s22.

You can make it pretty much whatever you want in system preferences/keyboard/shortcuts.

I understand that you’re looking to quickly switch between languages while typing on your Mac. I’d like to outline some other possible ways to do this aside from using the Input menu like you mentioned.

Take a look at the following information:

To switch between input sources, do any of the following:

Use the Input menu: Click the Input menu in the menu bar, then choose an input source. If an input source is dimmed, the current app doesn’t support it.

Use the Caps Lock key: Press the Caps Lock key to switch between a non-Latin input source (such as Chinese or Korean) and a Latin input source (such as French or English).

To use this method, you must select the “Use Caps Lock to switch to and from” option in the Input Sources pane. Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Keyboard, then click Input Sources.

Use keyboard shortcuts: Press Option-Control-Space bar to select the next input source in the Input menu, or Control-Space bar to select the previous input source.

Делаем в Mac OS X смену раскладки по Alt+Shift или Ctrl+Shift и добавляем Ё в раскладку

Знаю, истинные Маководы меня закидают тапками и тухлыми яйцами за такую ересь, но я за годы жизни на ПК привык к определённым вещам и переучиваться только потому, что так за меня кто-то решил мне попросту лень. Посему я сделал переключение раскладки клавиатуры в mac os по привычнму Alt+Shift, вместо сочетаний типа Cmd+Space (кстати почему-то вдруг сменившийся на Ctrl+Space). Фанатам альтшифта посвящается…

Итак стандартных средств смены раскладки в Маке я так и не нашёл, сомневаюсь, что они есть, но если вдруг есть напишите пожалуйста в комментариях. Потому после некоторых поисков решение нашлось, в так любимом мной со времён Windows, приложении Punto Switcher. Думаю все смогут его найти в поиске и установить. Внимательнее устанавливайте, я так понял что за его поддержку взялся Yandex и потому если при установке не снять галочку с «Установить расширения Yandex» то к вам в браузеры навстраевается куча всякого непотребства.

Итак в установленном и запущенном приложении проходим в настройки на вкладку «Сочетание клавиш» и а нижнем пункте «Сменить раскладку:» добавляем нужную вам комбинацию клавиш.

Вот собственно и всё, конечно несколько костыльно, для смены раскладки устанавливать отдельное приложение, в особенности если вы не пользуетесь Punto Switcher’ом, но что поделать, за личное удобство и комфорт приходится платить.

Раз уж речь пошла о раскладке и клавиатуре, то не премину поделиться и тем, как я букву Ё в привычное место добавил. Итак у меня, как и у многих нормальных людей, есть обычная ПК клавиатура с обычной ПК раскладкой, и если с добавлением Русской ПК клавиатуры у меня проблем не возникло. Она добавляется в Системные настройки->Клавиатура->Источники ввода нажатием на +.

То вот в ней как видно на скрине напрочь отсутствует буква Ё, без которой мне тоже крайне непривычно. Добавляется она через редактирование текущей раскладки в программе Ukelele
Открываем Ukelele, переключаемся на ту раскладку которую хотим редактировать, в пункте меню File выбираем «New From Current Input Source»

И уже над исходной клавиатурой колдуем так как вам нравится, нажимая правой кнопкой мыши на любую неугодную вам клавишу и меняя её значение выбором опции «Change Output…»

Я таким образом помимо добавления буквы Ё вернул клавишу Delete на привычное место цифровой клавиатуры. После редактирования сохраняем вашу клавиатуру в папку

/Library/Keyboard Layouts/ и добавляем её в системных настройках клавиатуры.

Ну и крайнее что я изменил в раскладке, это непривычные комбинации на копирование и вставку «Cmd + C» и «Cmd + V» заменил на «православные» «Ctrl + C» и «Ctrl +V» стандартными средствами в Системные настройки->Клавиатура->Клавиши модификации, простой заменой на противоположные функции

Вот собственно и все манипуляции которые потребовались для того, чтобы из Макоподобной раскладки сделать привычную ПК-подобную. Буду рад комментариям и если кому-то эта статья пригодится. Я желаю всем счастья =)

Question: Q: Sierra — shortcut for switching input language working erratically

I’m using Sierra 10.12.3 — with two languages, Hebrew and English.

I’m using the keyboard shortcut CMD+Space to switch between them.

The problem is it only works sometimes (I’d say 50%) of the time.

Also, sometimes it jus switches by itself, after I finish writing a line and press «Enter» or even just after I pause writing for a few seconds.

This used to work fine with my older MacBook, now I switched to the New MacBook Pro 15» with Sierra, and it’s really annoying and hurting productivity.

Even using CapsLock has the same problem (In Settings->Keyboard->InputSourcers->»Use the Caps Lock key to switch to and from ABC»).

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015), macOS Sierra (10.12.3)

Try going to system prefs/keyboard/shortcuts and changing the shortcut to Control + Space. That is the default for a new install of Sierra and may work better.

I had the very same problem, a minute or two after reading this post I decided to randomly try diffeent keystrokes.

I found that if you hold press CTRL+SHIFT+SPACE it switches languages and if you hold CTRL and press SPACE, it gives an onscreen display of languages you can switch!

Nowhere did I find this on the Preferences or languages. So weird. The SHIFT+ALT+SPACE suggestion on the preferences does not work.

Also if you go to system prefs/keyboard/shortcuts and click on input sources, it should normally display those shortcuts unless someone has changed them, or they were different in the macos version that was migrated from.

I didn’t migrate, got my Sierra pre-installed when MBP arrived. The link you send does not match what I am seeing at my end. I find that odd. I am using an external Apple Keyboard but even the built-in keyboard has same issue.

Doesn’t Control Option Space step through your layouts? And Control Space (without holding down to get the popup menu) switch between the last two layouts used?

I have the same setup, and it used to work fine on all my other macs, but I found out that it only make the switch if, AFTER pressing my shortcut key, I press either: Shift, fn, ctrl, option, CMD, or caps lock. Otherwise, the little flag in the top menubar changes, but the keyboard doesn’t. It’s absurd, and Apple needs to fix it. My text in English has accents all over the place, and És instead of question marks, and I have slashes and question marks all over my French text. (I’ve also developed a habit of switching languages to use the English question mark in French, instead of Shift+6, so my typing ***** on my new Mac now 😟 )

У меня на клавиатуре возле левого шифта есть какая-то косая кнопка (\ | — клавиатура не маковская). Я поставил себе переключение раскладки на Command+\ теперь очень похоже на Ctrl+Shift

ctrl-shift это нечеловечески. Человечески — это alt-shift. Делается с помощью Controllermate.

Тебе Джобс сказал как надо переключать раскладку? Сказал. Вот и выполняй.

Где-то на форуме была тема про alt+shift, ctrl+shift, там убеждали в обратном, да и сам я уже как-то привык к такой раскладке.

Блин поражает что такая компания не может сделать примитивных вещей — настраиваемый пользовательский интерфейс.
Неужели только обладатели шерстяного свитера и длинной бороды могут таким похвастаться?

Да мне как-то пофиг. Ctrl-shift неудобная опция, агента микрософт который придумал две опции для переключения раскладки — расстрелять.
А так я вообще помню времена, когда я переключал раскладку двумя шифтами. Тоже неплохой вариант, в принципе, в отличии от ctrl-shift, который чтобы нажать, нужно убрать руки с раскладки или очень хитрым образом их изогнуть.

А какая может? В виндоузе тоже только два варианта на переключение. В макосе оно настраивается хотя бы, проблема только в том, что кнопка «шифт» является не кнопкой а модификатором, поэтому переключение раскладки двумя модификаторами — невозможно. А вот то что идиоты из эппла не думают о шифтерах — это печальная история, тут не только в раскладке дело, кстати.

nes, эти понятия несовместимы ))) Это примерно как хотеть покушать тёплый ледяной арбуз со вкусом ежевики xD

cmd+пробел и правда удобнее. Особенно когда переключаешься во время печати: не нужно руку сдвигать или изгибать, чтоб дотянуться до ctrl+shift’а.
