Установка Skype в Manjaro

Skype — популярная программа голосового и текстового общения. Она проста в использовании, а с недавним обновлением от Microsoft приобрела ещё и более красивый вид. В этой статье рассмотрим, как установить Skype в Manjaro.

Программа отсутствует в стандартных репозиториях и доступна в AUR. Можно инсталлировать двумя способами.

Установка Skype в Manjaro через GUI

В первую очередь необходимо убедиться, что поддержка AUR включена. Для этого откройте в меню Установка и удаление программ.

В правом верхнем углу нажмите на кнопку с изображением «гамбургера» и выберите Настройки.

Подтвердите действие вводом пароля.

Выберите вкладку AUR и убедитесь, что тумблер его активации во включённом положении, поставьте галочку для поля Проверить обновления AUR и перезапустите программу.

Нажмите на значок поиска (или воспользуйтесь сочетанием клавиш Ctrl + F) и введите skype. Переключите вкладку слева на AUR и поставьте галочку напротив пакета skypeforlinux-stable-bin → Применить.

Появится окно со списком пакетов для сборки и установки. В данном случае только один элемент в списке. Нажмите Далее.

Пройдите при запросе аутентификацию, введя пароль, и дождитесь окончания установки. После этого программа появится в разделе меню Интернет.

Установка Skype через терминал

Для инсталляции программ из AUR используются разные менеджеры пакетов. В этом примере будет использована утилита yaourt.

Откройте терминал и введите:

Будет выведен список пакетов, в названии которых присутствует слово «skype». Нам необходима программа под номером 20 (об этом говорит и её наибольшая популярность среди остальных пакетов, выделенная желтым цветом). Введите 20 и нажмите Enter.

При запросе отредактировать PKGBUILD ответьте отрицательно, нажав n.

На вопрос о продолжении сборки пакета ответьте утвердительно с помощью ввода y или нажатием Enter.

Начнётся сборка. В конце пакет будет экспортирован в директорию с другими пакетами. Подтвердите действие вводом пароля.

Снова будет задан вопрос, установить ли пакет или выполнить другие действия. Нажмите Enter.

Далее покажется итоговая информация о программе. Нажмите Enter, чтобы установить пакет.

Дождитесь окончания процесса, и программа появится в разделе меню Интернет.

How to Install Skype on Manjaro Linux

How about enjoying Skype on Manjaro Linux? Linux itself is an amazing platform that offers great value and power over any machine. There are a number of Linux distros out there and Manjaro is one of them.

Manjaro Linux is an Arch-based distro that offers a more user-friendly environment and easier workflows than the classic Arch Linux. Arch Linux is always regarded as a big NO to “new to Linux” or “general” users. However, Manjaro closes the gap by a big margin.

Today, we’ll be enjoying Skype on Manjaro. Let’s get started!

Getting Skype

Manjaro is a great Linux distro but at its core, it’s still Arch Linux. So, the installation process will also work on the Arch Linux and other Arch-based distros.

There are a few ways you can directly enjoy Skype.

Getting Skype from AUR

This is the most convenient method of enjoying Skype on any Arch-based distro. In this method, you have to grab the source code of the client and then, build it on your system. This is the default installation behavior of the AUR packages.

At first, make sure that your system has “git” installed.

Now, grab the Skype client source code from AUR repository –

Change the active directory of the terminal –

Start the building process –

Getting Skype snap

This is way more convenient than the previous method I mentioned. In this method, all you need is just the “snap” client ready and install the Skype snap version.

Snaps are universal Linux apps that can run on any distro provided that the distro has the snap client installed before. In the case of Arch and other Arch-based distros like Manjaro, the snap client (aka “snapd”) is also available at the AUR repository.

Just like the previous method, make sure that your system has “git” installed –

Then, grab the source code –

Change the current directory of the terminal –

Start the building and installation of the snapd –

Enable the main snap communication socket –

Create a symbolic link for enabling the support for “classic” snaps –

After the snapd is installed, run the following command for installing Skype –

Using Skype

Now the installation is complete, it’s time to enjoy the awesome service of Skype.

Launch Skype from the menu –

Time to sign in into your account. If it’s your first time with Skype, don’t forget to create a new account right away!

If necessary, you can easily update your profile image –

How to install Skype on Archlinux and Manjaro

Skype still one of the most used chat tool on the world and can be installed on many devices like Mac Linux Windows and Phones. let me show you in this topic how i get installed Skype on my Manjqro Linux 18.1 live from my Virtualbox 6.0

Method1

Please find add/remove software under your administration tools

Under options > Preferences

Under Aur repository, please Enable AUR support and check to get updates from there

Now find Skype under AUR repository

Start building the package. that will take sometimes because of extra dependencies needed for Skype

finally you can now find Skype under your application

Method2

Open up the terminal and clone the latest Skype AUR repository:

1-go to https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/skypeforlinux-stable-bin/
and download latest Git url via Git client

2-Build the AUR package. First navigate to the directory. Then execute the makepkg command to build the Skype AUR package:

3-it will take some time to build the package and its dependencies and check if the new file has been generated

4-Using the pacman tool to install Skype package. Replace the package name suffix with the Skype version you have compiled previously:

5-The Skype installation is now complete. Use the start menu and search for Skype to start chatting or simply start it from the command line:
