Introduction

N editions of Windows include the same functionality as other editions of Windows, except for media-related technologies, Windows Media Player, and certain preinstalled media apps (Groove, Movies & TV, Voice Recorder, and Skype). The Media Feature Pack provides a way for a customer to restore these excluded technologies.

Some features require reinstalling hardware drivers after the Media Feature Pack is installed. For guidance to do this, see the following Knowledge Base article:

Media Feature Pack — version 2004 ( June 2020 )

Thank you for new update , My Windows is 10 pro N version 2004 — 6/11/2020 and OS build 19041.329 , also Windows system about show it as Experience pack 120,2202.1300 .

My Media player needs a new installation so I refer to Address as : https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/mediafeaturepack but there is no any suitable and related Media Feature Pack ( For example : Media Feature Pack — version ( June 2020 ) on .

I need installing it again , I am sure you know some of software works on base of Media player so if having no it users can’t work with some of other softwares .

Please Check it and let User having any I requested for .

Yes, you are right. As of now, the media feature pack for 2004 has not been published yet. I guess it would take a week or so more.

You may search for «Media feature pack» in the optional features as the primary method for delivery would be it and afterward, a support page would be published.

Since Windows version v1909 Media Feature Pack is delivered as optional feature.

For Windows v2004 (build 19041.xxx) I have managed to install that package.

Thank you for your message , I am sure you know the Windows 10 is on different type and different ordered on the market , any I have is used in Europe and basically it is without some of packs on by so user should download it from any source that define by Microsoft Co. .

So as Mr. Sumi have mentioned on his message obviously me and other user should be wait that they put download link on below address :

Microsoft should adding it to the select edition below .

Yes, I know about different types of Windows and if you look my screenshot more closely you can see that it’s taken from Windows 10 Pro N edition and I install Media Feature Pack as Optional Feature.

The Media Feature Pack for N versions of Windows 10 is available for download as an Optional Feature. Почему не устанавливается Media Feature Pack, а также немного о том, что такое Windows N

При установке некоторых программ или игр иногда приходится сталкиваться с необходимостью инсталляции дополнительных компонентов вроде Net Framework или Visual С++ . Также приложение или игра могут затребовать Media Feature Pack — компонент от Microsoft, отвечающий за обработку в Windows мультимедийного контента. Но когда пользователь скачивает пакет с официального сайта и запускает его на своем компьютере, то получает ошибку «Обновление неприменимо к вашему компьютеру» или «Установщик обнаружил ошибку…» .

Код ошибки обычно 0x80096002, но не исключены и другие варианты.

Решение этой проблемы очень простое, поскольку причиной ошибки почти во всех случаях становится отключенный Windows Media Player или вообще компонент Media Features , который во всех за небольшим исключением версиях и редакциях Windows является встроенным.

Откройте командой optionalfeatures в окошке «Выполнить» апплет «Компоненты Windows» и убедитесь, что в пунктах «Компоненты для работы с мультимедиа» (Media Features) и «Проигрыватель Windows Media» у вас установлены галочки.

Если нет, установите и примените новые настройки. После этого программа, которая до этого требовала Media Feature Pack, должна установиться, не создавая дополнительных проблем. То есть устанавливать вам компонент не придется.

Есть, однако, одно исключение.

Если у вас Windows редакций N или KN, что очень маловероятно, установить Media Feature Pack таки придется, так как в этих редакциях он по умолчанию отсутствует, равно как и приложения Groove Music , Movies & TV и Voice Recorder . В Windows N или KN также может отсутствовать мессенджер Skype . Причины, по которым Microsoft была вынуждена создать эти редакции, носят исключительно юридический характер. Проиграв дело об обвинении в нарушении антимонопольного закона, в 2004 Microsoft была оштрафована Европейской комиссией на 500 млн евро, кроме того, на компанию было наложено обязательство предлагать Windows в Европе без Media Player.

Так на свет появилась Windows N. С аналогичными проблемами в 2005 году пришлось столкнуться Microsoft в Южной Корее. Тогда компания потеряла 32 млн долларов, не считая обязательства предлагать операционную систему без Media Player и MSN Messenger. Поэтому обе эти редакции, и N, и KN доступны только в Европе и Корее. Кроме отсутствия в них мультимедийных компонентов, которые устанавливаются отдельно, ничем другим от прочих редакций Windows они не отличаются.

How To Install Media Feature Pack In Windows 10 N/KN Version 20H2

As with Windows 10 Version 1909 N/KN and Windows 10 Version 2004 N/KN editions, Windows 10 Version 20H2 also comes with a media feature pack pre-packaged into Windows as an optional feature. It can be installed easily using the method given below.

The Windows 10 N edition does not come with multimedia functionality due to European legal compliance. Similarly, the Windows 10 KN edition was released to comply with the laws of South Korea.

The following features will not work in any Windows 10 N or KN editions unless you install the media feature pack:

• Windows Media Player
• Windows Media Format (ASF) and other formats video and audio formats including MPEG, WMA, AAC, FLAC, ALAC, AMR, H264, H265 and Dolby digital audio codecs.
• Play Windows Media DRM content
• Share music, pictures or videos over the network
• Groove Music
• Voice recorder
• Skype

If you need any of the above-mentioned features, you will need to install the Windows Media Feature pack first. We will show you how to install and uninstall the media feature pack and other missing multimedia functionality in Windows 10 N/KN editions.

Install Media Feature Pack in Windows 10 N/KN Version 20H2

1. Open the Windows Settings (Windows key +i) and navigate to Apps. Click on the Optional Features link under Apps & Features heading in the right-hand pane.
2. Click on Add a feature button.
3. Search for “media” in the search field. This will show two components: Media Feature Pack and Windows Media Player.
4. Check both the Media Feature Pack and Windows Media Player and click on the Install button.

If you get the install failed error while installing the media feature pack, make sure your computer has access to the Internet as Windows will need to connect to the Internet to download the media feature pack and windows media player.

A system restart is required after installing the media feature pack. Otherwise, the multimedia components may not work correctly.

Install codecs and other multimedia functionality

After installing the media feature pack, it’s good to install all the other functionality missing from Windows 10 Version 20H2 N/KN editions. Here are the links from Microsoft Store:
