ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery driver missing Windows 10

The battery icon on my Linx tablet is missing.

In the taskbar setting when I go to turn system icons on or off, the Power Icon is greyed out.

«Scan for hardware changes» in the device manager also doesn’t work. Under «batteries», it only lists Microsoft AC Adapter, uninstalling and reinstalling hasn’t worked either.

Any tips or suggestions?

If I expand batteries, there is only Microsoft AC Adapter. ACPI-Compliant control method battery is not there at all.

Select your machine name at the top of the device tree in Device Manager.

Click the Action menu then click Scan for hardware changes.

Does it populate under Batteries?

Which version of Windows 10 is currently installed? See how to verify:

Which version and edition Windows did you originally upgrade from or was installed prior to your current version:

Windows 10 — 1703, 1607, 1511, 1507 (build 10240)

doesn’t populate when I scan for hardware changes 🙁

Currently running version 1709.

No idea which was the original one. the tablet came with Windows 10 Home edition pre-installed.

I remember when I started using the tablet the battery icon was there. And I also had a battery saver opion.

Any way to revert back to that version?

unfortunately no luck with the troubleshooter either. Ran both, it fixed 2 other issues, restarted. But no luck with the power icon yet.

If I understand correctly there should be two drivers under «Batteries» in the device manager: Microsoft AC Adapter and ACPI-compliant control method battery.

There is only one though, the Microsoft AC Adapter. The other one is missing.

Not sure if this is causing the issue? Is there no way downloading the driver and installing it?

Windows 10 — Missing Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery

I recently bought a new battery for my computer (Lenovo P580) to replace the original. However, on Windows 7 the battery indicator showed that it was «plugged in, not charging» when the A/C adapter was plugged in. The battery fails to charge.

To combat this issue, I looked up several different methods online and the most common solution is as follows:

1. Disconnect the A/C power supply

2. Shut down the computer

3. Remove the battery

4. Connect the A/C power supply

5. Start the computer

6. In the control panel, under system and security —> system —> device manager —> battery, uninstall «Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery»

7. Shut down computer

8. Disconnect A/C power supply

9. Insert the battery

10. Insert the A/C power supply

The problem should have been fixed, since Windows should automatically re-install the ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery upon start-up. which it did, in Windows 7. However, this did not fix the «plugged-in, not charging» problem.

So, I thought I would update my OS to Windows 10 and try this method again, in the hopes that maybe this was a Windows 7 bug. When going through the same ten-step process, though, Windows 10 failed to reinstall the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery, and now I am left without a battery indicator. and a battery that still doesn’t charge.

If someone could help me solve these two issues, that would be great. Thanks!
