The Microsoft Basic Display Adapter is software that’s built into Windows that provides display and graphics capabilities when software from your hardware manufacturer isn’t installed. To get the best experience from your device, you might need to install software known as a driver from your hardware manufacturer. Typically, you’ll get the latest drivers from Windows Update or as part of Windows setup. Sometimes, however, drivers might not get installed right away or may only be available directly from the hardware manufacturer’s website.

To see if you’re using the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, select the Start button, then in the search box next to Start, type dxdiag.exe. Choose dxdiag.exe from the list of results and then on the Display tab under Device , look at the value for Name. If there’s more than one Display tab, check all of them.

You can check Windows Update to see if a newer driver is available by selecting the Start button > Settings > Update & security , or you can check the manufacturer’s website.

If your hardware manufacturer doesn’t provide Windows 10 device drivers, try the following:

Why would I want to upgrade my graphics driver?

• To resolve graphics-related problems. Examples: visual corruption when playing a new game, Windows gives a graphics driver error.
• Your computer manufacturer recommends a graphics update.

Method 1: Use Intel® Driver & Support Assistant to Automatically Detect and Install Your Driver (Recommended)

Method 2: Manual Installation

To manually install your Intel® Graphics Driver in Windows® 10:

1. Identify the Intel® Graphics Controller that is available on your computer.
2. Identify your Operating System. Note the system type and Windows edition.
3. Go to the Download Center or your computer manufacturer driver site to download the graphics driver.
4. Filter the results by your Intel® Graphics Controller family and operating system.
5. Download the desired graphics driver.
6. If the file driver was contained in a zip file, unzip the file to a designated location or folder.
7. Right-click the Windows Start icon and select the Device Manager.
8. ClickYes when prompted for permission from User Account Control.
9. Expand the Display adapters section.
10. Right-click the Intel® Graphics entry and selectUpdate driver.
    

    If an Intel® Graphics Driver wasn’t installed, the graphics entry may be Microsoft Basic Display Adapter*.

    Some Intel Graphics products are not compatible with Windows 10. For more information, refer to Supported Operating Systems for Intel® Graphics Products.

11. ClickBrowse my computer for driver software.
12. ClickBrowse and select the directory where the driver files are located. (See 1:20 mark in the videos above for an example.)
13. ClickOK, and finally clickNext. Drivers are now being installed.
14. Restart your computer.

To verify your driver installation was successful:

1. Double-click the installed Display Adapter.
2. Click the Driver tab.
3. Verify the Driver Version and Driver Date are correct.

и ищем сразу же в папочке файлик Setup.exe (либо просто Setup, это если у вас не включено отображение расширений файлов)
17. Запускаем Setup.exe. Жмем Далее, соглашаеся с Лиц. Соглашением, ждем пока все установиться. Вконце установке должно написать — Во время установки выдавались предупреждения, с желтой подсветкой. Жмем готово, и выходим из установки драйвера.
18. Перезагружаем компьютер. Ждем пока он нормально запуститься, в трее ищем значок каталиста. Кликаем 2 раза по нему, ждем пока запуститься. Должен запуститься нормальный каталист, со всема настройками видеоадаптера, разгоном, масштабированием изображения и т.д. То есть иметь полный функционал на Windows 10, так же как и на предыдущих версиях Windows 10.

If you just updated to a new version or build of Windows 10, or did a reformatted your computer, and you find that your screen resolution is terrible, you’re not alone. Many Windows 10 users are reporting this problem. In fact, this is not a unique problem for Windows 10 users, it happened on Windows 8.1 and Windows 8 before.

If you look deeper in Device Manager, you will see that the item listed under the Display adapters category is Microsoft Basic Display Driver, as opposed to the name of your graphics card model.

You may wonder, what happens to my graphics card, and why can’t I see it anymore? No worries, this problem is not at all hard to fix. And we’re here to help.

How To Fix graphics card shows as Microsoft Basic Display Adapter

Here are 4 fixes that have helped other users resolve the graphics card shows as Microsoft Basic Display Driver issue. You may not have to try them all; just work your way down the list until you find the one that works for you.

Fix 1: Run Windows Updates

One of the reasons for this is that Windows has yet to provide you with the proper driver update after your operating system upgrade. So you may need to run the update on your own.

Here is how to run Windows Updates:

1) On your keyboard, press the Windows logo key and I at the same time, then click Update & security.

2) Click Check for updates.

3) Check to see if there is a graphics driver available. If yes, then great – just run the update and you’ll automatically fix the problem. If Windows doesn’t provide you with a graphics driver update, please move on to Fix 2, below.

Fix 2: Update your graphics driver

Fix 4: Downgrade operating system
