Use dictation to talk instead of type on your PC

Use dictation to convert spoken words into text anywhere on your PC with Windows 10. Dictation uses speech recognition, which is built into Windows 10, so there’s nothing you need to download and install to use it.

To start dictating, select a text field and press the Windows logo key + H to open the dictation toolbar. Then say whatever’s on your mind. To stop dictating at any time while you’re dictating, say “Stop dictation.”

If you’re using a tablet or a touchscreen, tap the microphone button on the touch keyboard to start dictating. Tap it again to stop dictation, or say «Stop dictation.»

To use dictation, your PC needs to be connected to the internet.

Dictation commands

Use dictation commands to tell you PC what to do, like “delete that” or “select the previous word.”

The following table tells you what you can say. If a word or phrase is in bold, it’s an example. Replace it with similar words to get the result you want.

Clear a selection

Clear selection; unselect that

Delete the most recent dictation result or currently selected text

Delete that; strike that

Delete a unit of text, such as the current word

Move the cursor to the first character after a specified word or phrase

Go after that; move after word; go to the end of paragraph; move to the end of that

Move the cursor to the end of a unit of text

Go after word; move after word; go to the end of that; move to the end of paragraph

Move the cursor backward by a unit of text

Move back to the previous word; go up to the previous paragraph

Move the cursor to the first character before a specified word or phrase

Go to the start of the word

Move the cursor to the start of a text unit

Go before that; move to the start of that

Move the cursor forward to the next unit of text

Move forward to the next word; go down to the next paragraph

Moves the cursor to the end of a text unit

Move to the end of the word; go to the end of the paragraph

Enter one of the following keys: Tab, Enter, End, Home, Page up, Page down, Backspace, Delete

Tap Enter; press Backspace

Select a specific word or phrase

Select the most recent dictation result

Select a unit of text

Select the next three words; select the previous two paragraphs

Turn spelling mode on and off

Start spelling; stop spelling

Dictating letters, numbers, punctuation, and symbols

You can dictate most numbers and punctuation by saying the number or punctuation character. To dictate letters and symbols, say «start spelling.» Then say the symbol or letter, or use the ICAO phonetic alphabet.

To dictate an uppercase letter, say “uppercase” before the letter. For example, “uppercase A” or “uppercase alpha.” When you’re done, say “stop spelling.”

Here are the punctuation characters and symbols you can dictate.

Microsoft Dictate – приложение для Windows, способное преобразовывать речь в текст. Утилита работает в режиме реального времени и обеспечивает возможность голосового набора. Поддерживается интеграция с Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint и другими офисными программами. Также доступна функция управления при помощи голосовых команд.

Голосовой ввод

После установки утилиты пользователи могут включить расширение и выбрать параметры преобразования. Для работы плагина необходимо подключить к компьютеру микрофон. Далее следует указать язык и нажать кнопку Start. Программа распознаёт речь и преобразовывает ее в текст.

Поддерживается более 20 языков, в том числе русский, английский, испанский, корейский, французский, итальянский и другие. Работа утилиты основана на API Bing Speech и Microsoft Translator, что позволяет обеспечить высокую точность преобразования. Кроме того, поддерживается функция мгновенного перевода текста на другие языки.

Управление

Программа позволяет настроить параметры голосового управления. С помощью команд пользователи могут форматировать текст, удалять символы, вставлять знаки препинания и выполнять многие другие операции.

Стоит отметить, что в настоящее время расширение не поддерживается разработчиком.

Набор текста голосом теперь доступен и в Microsoft Office

Проект Dictate, над которым работали представители отдела Microsoft Garage, стал популярным с момента своего запуска. С его помощью пользователи ПК могут осуществлять голосовой набор текста на более чем 20 языках мира прямиком в Microsoft Word, Excel, Published. Также написанное можно перевести на 60 языков, включая русский. Это значительно упрощает работу офисных служащих и работников печатных и интернет изданий.

Каждый пользователь ПК ежедневно работает с почтой, документами и различными мессенджерами, набирая в них текст вручную. Разработчики Microsoft решили упростить данный процесс и выпустили специальное приложение под названием Dictate, которое позволяет набирать текст с помощью голосовых команд. При этом данное приложение доступно на русском языке и еще на 19 других языках мира.

Требования Dictate не так высоки, однако все же имеются:

• Наличие библиотек Microsoft .NetFramework 4.5;
• Версия операционной системы не ниже Windows 8.1;
• Версия Microsoft Office не ниже 2013.

Важно отметить, что Dictate может распознать и корректно записать даже самое популярное в английском языке слово, которое длиннее 28 букв из песенки Мери Поппинс «Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious». Достичь такого уровня в распознавании текста помог приложению искусственный интеллект.

Также необходимо отметить, что с помощью голосовых команд Dictate можно не только вводить текст, но и делать отступы, новые абзацы, убирать ненужный текст, добавлять пунктуационные знаки.

Расширение Dictate для Microsoft Office преобразовывает речь в текст

Одно из подразделений компании Microsoft Garage анонсировало бесплатное дополнение Dictate для MS Office, которое в режиме реального времени преобразовывает речь в текст. Сервис базируется на API Bing Speech и Microsoft Translator, используемые цифровой помощницей Cortana, и после установки доступен в Word, PowerPoint и Outlook. Все, что надо от пользователя – включить микрофон и начать диктовать текст. Поддерживаются голосовые команды на создание новой строки, удаление, добавление знаков препинания и форматирование текста.

Dictate понимает более 20 языков, включая русский, английский, испанский, французский, немецкий, итальянский, китайский, японский, корейский, арабский, хинди, датский, голландский, норвежский, финский, швейцарский, португальский, польский. Также сервис умеет переводить надиктованный текст на один из 60 языков. Для работы аддона требуется Windows 8.1 или Windows 10, 32- или 64-битный пакет MS Office 2013 и новее, .Net framework 4.5 и выше.

Следует помнить, что это первый публичный релиз, и некоторые опции могут работать не идеально. Разработчики обещают: дальнейшие версии будут функционировать лучше, а список поддерживаемых продуктов расширится.
