@DAC324: In terms of using pipewire instead of PA I believe that’s what the pipewire-pulse package is meant to help with.

The latest update (1.4.00.13653-1) has major screen glitches for me. Another virtual desktop background appearing in teams, artifacts around people’s heads, settings -> devices yielded a black popup once the webcam preview tried to kick in. I’m downgrading.

This project will start, allow me to log in, but then report «Error code — online_check_failed: exceeded retry attempts Failed to connect to settings endpoint»

Quickly Googling, I’ve done the tasks of making sure the time is synced, etc. This problem still persists. I am able to log into Teams through Firefox, but I require the feature of sharing my screen.

As recommended below, I did try teams-for-linux, and I just get a white screen on that application. It does not even get to the login screen.

For those of you finding this thread and being on Arch as well, if you do experience an issue with OBS Virtual Webcam and the latter appears as a black screen under teams, just reduce the Output (Scaled) Resolution to 720p in the OBS settings.

For me, since the last upgrade, when I start teams, the only thing I see is a white box, completely inoperant. Apparently, the app starts (I can see some rendering), and then this white box is rendered on top of it, and I can neither close it. Completely useless.

Fortunately, I can close the app by using the small icon in the taskbar, but this is all I can do with this app. I had to uninstall it and install the AUR teams-for-linux package instead, which is unofficial, but at least works. Ah .. I can also open the app log, and I noticed I have a very huge log. Maybe I have some old configuration files somewhere, which might be causing this strange behavior (white box), but I was unable to discover where it is.

The only issue for me is that after a restart it doesn’t save audio settings, what mic was in use last time. So I have to set it up before the call each time. Has anyone got solution to this ? PS. it is the heaviest app on my machine 🙂

@luisalcarasr, thanks! I don’t use pulseaudio , but running Teams 1.4.00.13653 with apulse fixes the crash when joining the meeting.

EDIT: Unfortunately, running Teams with apulse breaks my microphone. Back to 1.4.00.7556-1 I suppose.

EDIT2: However! After inspecting what exactly /usr/bin/teams does, I digged out a command that should keep apulse running together with Teams in foreground. This seems to work:

My microphone is recognized in 1.4.00.13653 and it no longer crashes when joining a meeting. Yay!

Some problems when Teams crashes during the start of a call may be related to an inappropriate installation of pulseaudio .

Please, before flag as Out-of-date perform a double check in versions. Current version 1.4.00.4855 is higher than 1.3.00.30857, 1.3.00.5153 or 1.3.00.958.

If you doubt, please remember the math classes and perform a count 1, 2, 3, 4, . 958, 959, . 5152, 5153, 5154, . 30856, 30857, 30858, etc.

Same here: With «teams» (preview) package installed, I can click a meeting link* (or copy it to the Firefox URL bar) and it opens that meeting in the teams client. I uninstall «teams», install «teams-insiders», do the same thing – and the client is opened (to its latest open screen), but the meeting itself is NOT started. Should this be working with teams-insiders also?

Edit: Got it working now with aur.archlinux.org/packages/teams just not with aur.archlinux.org/packages/teams-insiders

Do meetup join links work with MS Teams on Linux? I haven’t been able to get them to open from the browser to the application using AUR/Snap/Flatpak versions. I was sent the link on MS Outlook but there didn’t seem to be a way of adding it as an event in my calendar so it would appear within the Microsoft Teams calendar with a join button.

Microsoft Teams для Linux

Так что нередко у пользователей возникают вопросы по установке и настройке различных программ из-за непривычного интерфейса и прочих аспектов. По ходу статьи мы разберемся, как скачать и запустить Microsoft Teams для Linux.

Руководство

В качестве примера возьмем очень популярный дистрибутив Ubuntu. Но описанные способы будут подходить под прочие сборки на том же ядре, просто везде есть свои особенности.

В случае с программой Микрософт Тимс можно выделить два удобных способа установки на компьютер или ноутбук:

• С помощью инсталляционного пакета, который можно скачать на официальном сайте.
• Через несколько команд в Терминале (командная строка).

На всякий случай перечислим минимальные системные требования. Им должен соответствовать ваш ПК для запуска программы. Вот этот список:

• Центральный процессор – частота от 1.6 ГГц.
• Оперативная память – начиная с 2 ГБ ОЗУ.
• Свободное место на диске – 3 ГБ.
• Видеопамять – адаптер с 128 МБ памяти.
• Монитор – с разрешением не меньше 1024 х 768.
• Поддерживаемыедистрибутивы – Ubuntu 16.04, CentOS 8, а также рабочие станции Fedora 30 и RHEL 8.

Способ №1: Официальный сайт

Для многих пользователей он будет несколько проще, чем работа с командной строкой. Перейдем непосредственно к инструкции:

1. Откройте страницу загрузки Микрософт Тимс. Для этого под статьей оставлена специальная ссылка.
2. Кликните по кнопке с подходящим установочным пакетом. В случае с Ubuntu лучше выбирать DEB-пакет.
3. Сохраните и откройте установочный файл.
4. Откроется окошко распаковщика пакетов. В нем кликните ЛКМ по кнопке запуска процедуры.
5. Введите пароль суперпользователя.
6. Дождитесь окончания процедуры.
7. Откройте Microsoft Teams через общее меню приложений.

Остается только войти в аккаунт и начать общение.

Способ №2: Команды в Терминале

В случае с дистрибутивом Ubuntu для запуска Терминала используется комбинация клавиш Ctrl + Alt + T . В нем вам нужно последовательно выполнить несколько команд.

sudo apt install curl

Нужно для установки инструмента Curl.

curl https://packages.microsoft.com/keys/microsoft.asc | sudo apt-key add —

Отвечает за добавление ключа репозитория Майкрософт.

sudo sh -c ‘echo «deb [arch=amd64] https://packages.microsoft.com/repos/ms-teams stable main» > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/teams.list’

Добавление репозитория загрузки Microsoft Teams.

sudo apt update

Нужно для обновления данных.

sudo install teams

Непосредственно установка Микрософт Тимс.
