MOTU MIDI interfaces

Windows 2000 WDM «XP-ready» Drivers for all MOTU MIDI and Audio Interfaces

We have just posted Windows 2000 WDM drivers for all our MIDI and audio interfaces. This «across the board» release also paves the way for Windows XP compatibility when it ships later this year. MOTU’s new drivers support all of the following I/O formats:

• USB MIDI
• Parallel MIDI
• PCI-324 audio
• FireWire audio
• GSIF «Giga» audio

«MOTU is first to bring WDM FireWire audio to Windows 2000 with our 828 audio interface,» said Jim Cooper, MOTU Marketing Director. «And MOTU is still the first and only company to ship comprehensive WDM support for USB, Parallel, FireWire and PCI. We’re already testing our WDM drivers with Windows XP and we expect to post them on our web site the very day that Windows XP ships.»

MOTU’s USB MIDI and PCI-324 audio WDM drivers also provide «Wave» driver support for Windows 98SE and Windows Me, providing backward compatibility for users who have not yet upgraded to Windows 2000. MIDI applications can access up to 10 MIDI input/output ports under Windows 98SE and Windows 2000, the maximum number of MIDI ports allowed by these two platforms. Windows Me and Windows XP eliminate this barrier, giving parallel MIDI Timepiece-AV users 16 MIDI input/output ports (via two networked AV’s) or dozens of MIDI input/output ports via as many MOTU USB interfaces (any model) as their system can handle via a standard USB hub. Each MIDI port provides 16 unique MIDI channels.

MOTU’s 828 FireWire audio interface connects to any FireWire-equipped Windows 2000 or Windows Me PC and provides low-latency, plug-and-play 24-bit audio I/O for any WDM-compatible audio application, such as Cakewalk’s SONAR software. «MOTU and Cakewalk have worked closely together to bring FireWire audio to Windows 2000 under WDM, and we’re thrilled with the performance and convenience that the MOTU 828 provides SONAR users,» commented Greg Henderschott, Cakewalk’s President/CEO.

This update includes several minor program enhancements. It is recommended for all MachFive 3 users.

BPM 1.5.2 Updater (Win64)

This update of BPM requires a previous install and iLok authorization of BPM version 1.5.0 or 1.5.1. Please refer to the update notes included with this download for a summary of new system requirements and update enhancements. This update is strongly recommended for all BPM 1.5.x users.

If you currently own BPM 1.0.x, you must purchase the 1.5 upgrade from the MOTU on-line store (www.motu.com/store) or by calling MOTU customer service at 617.576.2760.

Ethno Instrument 2.0.3 (Windows 64-bit)

This is a maintenance update of Ethno Instrument. It requires a previously installed and authorized Ethno Instrument version 2.0.0, 2.0.1 or 2.0.2 to install.

This version is a routine maintenance update and is recommended for all Ethno 2 users.

Please refer to the 2.0.3 update notes contained in the download for a complete summary of changes in this version.

MachFive 3 Universal Loops & Instruments Update

This download contains a maintenance update for MachFive 3’s Universal Loops & Instruments.ufs sample content. This update will eliminate some errors when accessing the Universal Loops & Instruments.ufs.

Download .ufs file and replace the old Universal Loops & Instruments.ufs with this updated version.

PLEASE NOTE: this UFS file is 4.9 GB, so it may take a while to download, depending on your internet connection speed.

Symphonic Instrument Library UFS File

This download contains the Symphonic Instrument sound library in the form of a .ufs file. The UFS format allows you to access the Symphonic Instrument sound library via MachFive 3 or UVI Workstation 2 on today’s latest Mac and Windows systems, including 64-bit systems. The library content remains the same. Only the file format has changed.

IMPORTANT: this .ufs file requires a new iLok authorization. Registered MOTU Symphonic Instrument owners can obtain the authorization from MOTU technical support. Please refer to the tech note below for detailed installation and authorization instructions.

Download the MOTU MSI.ufs file to your hard drive. Point MachFive 3 or UVI Workstation to it.

896mk3 Hybrid Firmware v1.02 for Windows

This installer (version 4.0.55333) installs updated drivers and software for all MOTU FireWire, USB, Hybrid, and PCI-424 audio interfaces for Windows 7, 8 and Vista. 32-bit and 64-bit systems are supported. The CueMix FX app now supports PCI-424 systems and replaces the legacy CueMix Console app. This update also contains CueMix FX support for TouchOSC and TouchOSC Layouts 1.0. The minimum required legacy Windows versions are Vista SP2. Supported MOTU products include:

Electric Keys 1.0.5 (Windows 64-bit)

This is a maintenance update of Electric Keys. It requires a previously installed and authorized Electric Keys version 1.0 or later to install.

This version adds compatibility with the latest Windows 7/Vista operating systems. It also provides CPU performance optimizations and addresses some issues with 64-bit operation.

Please refer to the 1.0.5 update notes contained in the download for a complete summary of changes in this version, including NEW MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS.

MachFive 3.0.1 Full Installer (Windows 64-bit)

This download provides a complete full installation of MachFive 3.0.1. If you already have version 3.0.0 installed on your computer, you can use the 3.0.1 Updater instead, which is a smaller, faster download.

Unzip the archive, double-click Setup64.exe, and follow the on-screen instructions.

FireWire and USB Audio Driver Installer for Windows

This installer installs the current version of the FireWire and USB audio interface drivers for Windows 7, Vista, and XP. The minimum required legacy Windows versions are Windows Vista SP2 and Windows XP SP3.

Extract the contents of the ZIP archive to reach the installer program named SetupAudio. The archive also contains a README file with installation instructions and additional documentation to supplement the audio interface User Guide.

USB MIDI Installer for Windows

This installer (version 4.0.48697) installs updated drivers for Windows 7, Vista, and XP for all MOTU USB MIDI interfaces, including the USB FastLane, micro lite, MIDI express 128, micro express, MIDI Express XT, and MIDI Timepiece AV. Includes a completely rewritten version of ClockWorks for the MIDI Timepiece AV, MIDI Express XT, micro express and Digital Timepiece. 32-bit and 64-bit PC systems are supported. The minimum required legacy Windows versions are Vista SP2 and XP SP3.

This update does not apply to original Travelers.

UltraLite Firmware v1.15 Updater for 64-bit Windows

This installer updates an original UltraLite to firmware version 1.15. To determine which firmware version is currently installed on your UltraLite, look at the front panel LCD while the interface boots or check the UltraLite tab of the MOTU Audio Console program.

This update does not apply to UltraLite mk3s.

MachFive 2.02 Update (PC)

This is a maintenance update to MachFive 2.02. This update requires a previous install of MachFive 2 or 2.01 and a MachFive 2 iLok authorization.

Ethno Instrument 1.0.1 Public Beta

Pre-release public beta version of Ethno Instrument for Vista x32 and x64. (note: RTAS version is included, but may not be compatible pending a Vista compatible RTAS host). This is an update of version 1.0 for registered Ethno instrument users.

Before installing, download and install the iLok Driver update (see link below; install appropriate x32 or x64 drivers). After installing iLok Driver update, unzip Ethno Instrument install archive, and run SETUP.

MOTU Symphonic Instrument PC

This is the latest update of MOTU Symphonic Instrument for 32-bit and 64-bit XP and Vista systems.
