HOW TO SET UP KOMPLETE AUDIO 1, 2 & 6

Native Access is a small cloud-based application that handles downloads, installation, and updates for Native Instruments software. It’s the easiest way to get all your music creation tools ready for use, so you can spend more time making music and less time managing products.

Windows users can find out how to download the ASIO driver for KOMPLETE AUDIO here. Mac users don’t need a separate driver.

STEP 1: DOWNLOAD, INSTALL, AND RUN NATIVE ACCESS

  • If you already have Native Access, just start the application.
  • You’ll be asked to log in with your NI account. If you don’t have one, you can create one within the app.
  • Please pay particular attention to the Installation Preferences – see below for details.

STEP 2: ENTER SERIAL NUMBER

Select ‘Add serial’, and enter your KOMPLETE AUDIO 1 or KOMPLETE AUDIO 2 serial number as shown on the flyer in your product box or on the underside of your hardware unit.

Please note: It may take several minutes before your software is ready to be installed. Check availability with the refresh button.

STEP 3: INSTALL SOFTWARE

STEP 4: DOWNLOAD ABLETON LIVE LITE

STEP 5: VISIT THE QUICK START GUIDES

Need a hand getting going with your new audio interface? No problem. Our animated Quickstart Guides make getting up and running a breeze.

IMPORTANT: When you run Native Access for the first time, you’ll be asked to ‘select a target folder’. Native Access will install all product content, such as sample libraries, into this target folder. Sample content in particular takes up a lot of space, so you may want to install everything to a dedicated hard drive.

IMPORTANT: On Windows computers, you need to point Native Access to your preferred VST plug-in folder. Once selected, all Native Instruments VST plug-ins will be installed into this folder.

Need a helping hand getting started? Check out the Quickstart Guide for KOMPLETE AUDIO 1 or KOMPLETE AUDIO 2.

Komplete Audio 6 Driver not installing on Windows 10 [en-us]

I recently updated to windows 10 and my komplete audio 6 is being recognized by windows at the connectivity level (usb light on KA6 blinking, showing up in windows device manager). However when I install the NI provided win10 driver, device manager still indicates that no driver has been installed. When i try to run the installation .exe again, the install program prompts me to uninstall the driver, meaning it knows i have the software on my computer but windows is not accepting it.

I have found several threads here from people with similar issues, but all were directed to a closed hardware support ticket. No solution was provided publicly thus far. I have followed the trouble-shooting steps that were recommended to those individuals and, like them, nothing changed.

It is worthy to note that when i try to manually direct windows to the INF folder within the KA6 folder tree in program files, Windows finds nothing of use there. I also tried directing windows to the ASIO folder to manually search for a driver- no result.

Please search your internal support tickets for the resolution to the aforementioned individuals’ issues and post it publicly if available, as this appears to be a somewhat pervasive issue. Also if anyone in the community has any suggestions outside those provided in the troubleshooting document, any help is appreciated!

As Aaron said in his last communication with me:

I was able to fix the issue, and heres how:

On the NI website, there are TWO versions of the product updater for Win listed.. The first time I tried to update my firmware, I just downloaded the higher number of the two (1.20, and 1.70). WELL, it turns out that 1.70 updates the KA6 to version 37, but for some reason 1.20 updates the KA6 to firmware v48!! Once I figured this out, I was able to install the newest 4.20 drivers again and everything works (after a restart)- Windows playback, midi, device connection/recognition, and audio in/out.

So in conclusion, my particular problem was a firmware issue, keeping windows from communicating with the device if the latest (4.20) drivers were installed, where the hardware would HALF work with version 3.10 drivers, but not fully.

Thanks for the support. I will be copy/pasting our correspondence into the thread to help future users!!

Please try the steps linked below.

1. Run the System File Integrity Checker:

System File Integrity Checker

2. Make sure all of the latest Windows Updates are installed with this mini tool:

WINDOWS UPDATES MINI TOOL

3. Make sure all the Redistributable packages are installed and not corrupted:

Visual C Runtime Installer

Let me know if the issue persists after going through the steps above.

Hi Las, Thanks for the reply!

All steps complete. no errors with system file integrity checker.

no updates indicated in mini tool

Attempted to reinstall drivers, and trouble shoot following steps given to other users. same result. windows says no driver installed.

Standing by for updates, wondering what the tickets for other users that had this problem say before they were closed.

also wondering if other users bought another audio interface to close this ticket

I was able to locate my original installation CD for the KA6. I uninstalled the latest drivers downloaded from this website and installed the originals from the CD. Once I installed the original software, the KA6 control panel installed, the device connected, and the KA6 is now listed in device manager under sound, video and game controllers. Progress!

However, here’s where the progress halts:

The KA6 is not listed by windows as an input or playback device. I have tried several things:

Installed the ASIO4ALL driver. No result.

Right clicked in the sound manager panel to make sure windows was listing disabled devices. Device not listed.

Attempted to update drivers to new version after installing KA6 control panel and original software. This oddly makes windows display the KA6 as an unknown device again in device manager. The latest driver really doesnt seem to work at all.

Deleted new drivers and reinstalled original software- at this point I am where I was when I first installed the original software: device connects, everything lights up correctly on the KA6, device is displayed in device manager under sound, video and game controllers, but NOT listed as a playback device.

So, I decided to install cubase (my primary recording program) to see if the program could even communicate with the KA6. It fails to recognize the KA6 as a vst connection. Only the onboard realtek sound card shows up for in/out, just like in the windows playback and input panels.

Please advise, I feel like I am getting close but this is still a driver issue with win 10, and I need a version that gets me a bit further!!

I will try again as no one has responded to my previous post!?

I am having a similar problem, but not with windows 10. I just changed from windows 7 32 bit to windows 7 64 bit, and now it doesn’t matter whether I use the disc that came with the hardware, or the most up to date driver software from the NI site . I get the same messages you do.

NI — please advise.

Same problem. Worked OK, but problem started after Cubase 9 installation. Bus power still works, but Control Panel say — No Komplete Audio 6 found.

Please follow these steps precisely to solve the issue:

Disconnect your KA6 from the computer. Then proceed:

1. Please uninstall «Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6 Driver» from the Windows Control Panel under «Programs and Features».

2. Go to your Update Manager and log in:

3. Type «komplete audio 6» and click the search-button. Download the «Komplete Audio 6 Driver 3.0.3 Windows»-file and install it.

4. Go to this website:

Download the «Device Updater 1.2.0 — Windows». Connect your KA6-device again, start the Device Updater and finish the procedure. This will install the latest firmware on the KA6.

5. Now disconnect the KA6 again. Please uninstall the Native Instruments Audio 6 Driver» again from Windows Control Panel > Programs and Features.

6. Download the «Komplete Audio 6 Driver 4.2.0 — Windows» from the same website as before:

Run the installer for 4.2.0 and finish the procedure. Now re-connect your KA6.

Please let me know if this worked out for you.

Windows 10 update broke NI Audio 6 [en-us]

I recently updated Windows 10 v.1903 and now my NI Audio 6 no longer reads as available in Ableton. The inputs no longer read as available in OBS either. The USB blinks and the LEDs light up but I have lost the ability to use this interface. Everything was working prior to this update. It says that my drivers are up to date. Please advise.

*Update* I’m trying the ‘device updater’ from the firmware section. I unplugged device and plugged it back in but the updater v1.70 can’t seem to find it. This is what I see when I run the updater.

Is the Komplete Audio 6 connected directly to your computer or is it going through a USB hub first?

Do you have another computer you can test the Komplete Audio 6 on?

I updated to windows 1903 yesterday and got the same problem 🙁
Komplete audio 6 plugged in the only usb 2.0 port my computer has.

IT WORKS WITH MK2 DRIVERS .

I’m beyond happy right now 😀

IT EVEN WORKS WITH USB 3.0 NOW .

update 1903 w10 yesterday and my komplete 6 not working too 🙁 .

komplete 6 has been connected to usb 2.0 and 3.0 and the error continue,

Any solution? thanks

Is this a Komplete Audio 6 Mk1 or Mk2? If it is an Mk1 device, did try installing the Mk2 driver to see if that works for you as it seems to have for the previous poster? You can download the latest Komplete Audio 6 Mk2 driver from this page. Scroll down to KOMPLETE AUDIO 6 MK2 and click on «Komplete Audio 6 MK2 Driver 4.59.0 — Windows 10».

It´s MK1, now going to try with mk2 driver, thanks

NO WORKING, with the mk2 driver komplete 6 the error continue ;-(

Do you have access to another computer to test if the Komplete Audio 6 works there? If the same thing happens on another computer, there might be a physical problem with the interface. I’m running the latest build of Windows 10 and the Komplete Audio 6 MK1 works without issue.

Downgrade W10 to 1809 and now working fine.

Glad to hear that you were able to get the A6 working again. I have reported this to the development team for further investigation. I will let you know if they find anything. I have tested a couple different Komplete Audio 6 mk1 interfaces on a few different Windows 10 systems running the latest windows build without any issues.

Have you been able to fix this problem?

im not able to downgrade.

Downgrade to 1809 version and works fine.

Now at this time I have doubts to upgrade to version 1909 of W10 and check if everything works perfectly.

The Komplete Audio 6 MK1 is working without issue on W10 version 1909 on the PC’s we have in the office. There have been some Windows updates that have been released in the last year that did cause our Komplete Kontrol keyboards to stop working. Microsoft did eventually address that issue, but it never caused a problem with the Komplete Audio 6 MK1.

1909 caused my computer to no longer be able to detect my KA6. What steps do I need to take to fix it?

I am having the same issue with windows 10 (v1909) as above. Windows will use the KA6mk2 to playback sounds, none of my DAWs will detect the interface. (Ableton 10.1.9, NI Kontact 5 (and associated sound libraries), Pro Tools 12.5.2). I have also tried using ASIO4All and it doesn’t work. I can see the device in Ableton if I use the direct x option.

I can see in the device manager that there is only a ‘microphone’ input and speaker outputs (not all 6 ins and outs). As this is a new PC, I don’t have the option to downgrade windows to an earlier version. I have downloaded the lastest drivers and update everything that I could. I have only just bought this as my KA6mk1 died (at least i thought it did, maybe not as it would not connect to windows with all the latest drivers).

Help please, this appears to be a common problem with the last version of windows 10.

Hey guys, I had the same problem of updating to windows v1909 and not being able to use my Komplete Audio 6. I did however fix this problem by downloading and installing the KA6 Driver Updater v1.2.0 and NOT the 1.7.0 version. I then retarted my computer and this not only fixed the device recognition problem, but acutally sepatated the many audio outputs as separate devices which can be helpful as my computer used to see it as a surround audio output. Hope that fixes it for you guys.

Thanks. I found a post by sweetwater that instructed turning off the windows defender then installing without other software open such as Chrome. Worked a treat with the latest drivers.
