Установка Debian на Netgear Stora

На днях у меня в руках оказалось вот такое чудо: netgear ms 2000 — stora. Решил сразу отказаться от использования встроенной ОС и установить на жесткий диск debian.

Информация в сети немного разрознена, ссылки давно уже умерли, поэтом решил обновить процесс установки debian на stora. Кому интересно, добро пожаловать под кат.

Для начала нам необходимы образы для установки системы: взял здесь. Скачиваем оба файла. Данные файлы записываем в корень на флэшку, которая отформатирована в fat32.
Также потребуется преобразователь USB – UART PL2303TA.

Также потребуется ПО для коннекта к железке, например hyperterminal или putty (у меня с putty не сложилось: все время в терминал лезли кракозябры, поэтому я использовал hyperterminal.

Чтобы подключить железку кабелем, необходимо ее вначале разобрать. Процесс несложный, поэтому описывать его не буду. Ну и необходимо не забыть в первый слот сторы вставить жесткий диск, на который и будет происходить собственно установка.

После разбора железки подключаем переходник. Внимание, не подключайте красный провод, т.е. подключить нужно всего лишь 3 провода (от батарейки: черный, зеленый, белый).
Итак, провод подключен, драйвера подцеплены. В драйвере com порта ставим параметры: скорость 115200, число бит 8, стоповых бит 1, без контроля четности. После этого включаем железку и коннектимся к ней в терминале. Когда увидите надпись Press any key… нажимайте любую клавишу для входа в загрузчик u-boot.

После входа в загрузчик установим параметры сети, инициализируем usb устройство, проверим, что на флэшке есть необходимые файлы, сохраним в память устройства данные параметры и перезагрузим:

После перезагрузки вводим команды для начала установки debian:

После этого пойдет стандартная установка debian в текстовом режиме. Устанавливаем систему, перезагрузжаемся после установки, входим в uboot и вводим команды для загрузки устройства с жесткого диска:

После перезагрузки происходит загрузка с жесткого диска debian, чего изначально и добивались.

Netgear N-300/ WNA3100 USB-адаптер для Ubuntu 16.04

Вы можете добавить поддержку для Netgear N-300/ WNA3100 USB Adapter установив ndiswrapper и загрузка сетевого драйвера Windows.

Установите модули ndiswrapper

Перейдите туда, куда вы сохранили драйвер (посмотрите на Download Windows Netgear Drivers раздел ниже):

Вы можете скачать драйвер с сайта NetGear: WNA3100 Drivers. Единственное, что вам нужно из пакета загрузки, это WNA3100 папка.

Примечание: вам нужно только wine для извлечения WNA3100.zip пакет из setup.exe файл с сайта Netgear. После запуска setup.exe Вы найдете пакет zip в:

Я использовал тот же адаптер Wi-Fi для Ubuntu 14.04 и 15.04, он работал нормально для меня. Если у вас есть подключение к локальной сети, сделайте обновление.

sudo apt-get update

I want to install an usb wireless Netgear WNDA3100v3 on my Computer HP Compaq 6510b running with Linux Mint 18.1.

I followed the HOWTO: Netgear WNA3100 wireless adapter on LMDE (64-bit) on this forum. But I can’t go further than step 7 because I don’t know how to find the compatible drivers with the Ndiswrapper 1.61 which is the last version of Ndiswrapper.

Can someone help me to find this drivers and to complete the installation ?

Andy (working on behalf of Netgear),

1.- All the documentation, including that in the readyshare web page, refers to NETGEAR USB Control utility that is nowhere to be found.

2.- In the downloads center after searching for the appropriated router (in my case AC1450) there is no ReadyShare utility listed. Only the Vault software utility and different firmware versions

3.- How come something some important and simple is so difficult to find?

My only problem with the search is that it doesn’t work. Your company should move to Google Custom search or whatever the Bing! equivalent is.

Not sure if anyone caught this but the directions are in the manual of the router, well at least for mine AC1900 Nighthawk. Starting at the bottom of page 109 PDF.

You must install the ReadySHARE Printer utility on each computer that will share the printer. After you install it, the utility displays as NETGEAR USB Control Center on your computer.

To install the utility:

1. If necessary, unzip the ReadySHARE Printer utility setup file.

2. Double-click the ReadySHARE Printer utility setup file that you downloaded.

3. Follow the wizard instructions to install NETGEAR USB Control Center

So what does one do when this utility stops working? It fails to create the virtual usb port and therefore the printer is now unavailable to my Windows 7 computer. Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but he Control Center window comes up blank. No Readyshare printer or attached hard drive. I can still access the hard drive via a mapped drive to the ip address 192.168.1.1, but can not print. Again, blank window when starting USB Control Center and no USB port with attached printer anywhere to be found.

Have you tried uninstalling the printer drivers from the pc and then reinstalling them then boot up the usb control center and scan again for the printer.

The problem is the software is buggy as hell. It fails to create the proper directory under user/username etc with the vague and useless msg «network resource is unavailable». Except it is NOT a network resource, it is a directory on my c: drive and certainly is «available». Then I try to dload the zip file and the zip is either corrupted or something because the dload fails and a millisec later dos (. ) window opens that says «command failed». Again, a generally useless msg for problem solving purposes. My experience with this software is after many hours of problem solving I will get the networked printer to work after numerous software/driver/printer installs/uninstalls. It will then work for 1-3 months and then readyshare starts emitting a beep like it is trying to connect to the printer and can’t. That’s when I know the whole circus is about to start all over again. Rediculous.
