[SOLVED] I have no internet! connect: Network is unreachable
After some searching, I’ve found https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=165720
But the solution didn’t work for me. Or I did something wrong.
I’ve installed Arch Linux normally, but, when I log in, it has no internet.
I couldn’t install xorg, or anything, because pacman won’t do anything without internet.
Thus, I do not have access to copy paste. Try not to ask for commands which displays a huge output for me to type the result .
ping www.google.com
ping: www.google.com: Temporary failure in name resolution.
ping 8.8.8.8
connect: Network is unreachable
«ip link» command lists two interfaces: lo, enp2s0.
Initially it was down, but manually enabling it with «ip link set enp2s0 up» didn’twork.
Running «netctl list» returns nothing. When I manually did my own network file, copying ethernet-static from /etc/netctl/examples and changing from eth0 to enp2s0, and enabled it with «netctl enable mynetwork» it didn’t work.
I have no idea what else to do. I think I’ll reinstall it again and try your suggestions/solutions with a freshly reinstalled system.
Any help would be welcome.
It is my first time trying to install Arch Linux.
Also: How do I post code with that neat blue squary background?

А где inet4 addr?
Re: Network is unreachable

Без понятия. Как добавить?
Re: Network is unreachable
/sbin/ip a add 192.168.1.X/24 dev eth1
Re: Network is unreachable
Re: Network is unreachable
змапусти pkgtool, зайди в меню конфигурирования сети и все настрой.

Один чёрт — после перезагрузки все настройки летят.
Re: Network is unreachable
и ни до, ни после перезагрузки инет не работает. с единственной разницой, что «до» (когда всё настроено) хоть внутри сети пингует нормально.
Сам АДСЛ модем работает отлично, другие компы работают нормально.
Re: Network is unreachable
Это весь rc.inet1.conf?

network is unreachable
I just setup a router and an ubuntu server. I connected my ubuntu desktop and everything is groovy. The server no luck. Says network is unreachable when I try to ping stuff. Don’t know what to do now.

Re: network is unreachable
Found another thread that said to try:
brute-force an IP address via:
ifconfig eth0 inet 192.168.etc.
Then do:
sudo dhclient eth0
Now I can ping, but I have no idea what I just did!
Can anyone explain this magic?
Re: network is unreachable
okay and after rebooting, I’m back to the same place.
No connection.
lo link encapL: local loopback
inet addr: 127.0.0.1 mask 255.0.0.0
inet6 addr: ::1/128 scope: host
up loopback running mtu: 16436 metric:1
rxpackets 0 .
then more 0 for rest
rx bytes: 0 etc.
Re: network is unreachable
is eth0 listed in your /etc/network/interfaces file?
if not try adding
what does ifconfig show now? does it notice eth0?
Re: network is unreachable
Did that but it said after restarting.
ignoring unkown interface eth0=eth0
ignoring unknown interface inet=inet
Re: network is unreachable
drop the «inet» part, and try again

I’m running Workstation 8.0.1 on a Linux Mint 12.0 host (basically, it’s Ubuntu, with some GUI changes).
I’ve been running a Linux Mint guest, under that, for some time, without difficulties.
Today, I was playing around with vmrun, trying to see if I could use it to suspend the Ubuntu guest. Suspend and Start both seemed to work fine, except that when the guest came back up, it had lost the ability to connect to the network, Running ping from a command-line in the guest returns «connect: Network is unreachable».
I restarted the guest, then restarted the host and the guest, I reinstalled the VMware tools, all to no effect.
I had been running in Bridged mode, I switched to NAT, and still nothing.
I’m at a loss. Any ideas?
Just as an update: I copied the .vmx from a backup, in case something had been changed. No difference, networking was still disabled.
So I restored from backup, and that networking worked fine. Ran the current version again, and networking is still broken.
I’m at a loss as to what might have happened, but I’m thinking the best solution might be to copy off the files that have changed, and then do a restore.

Does the network adapter (in the guest) show «connected»? You might try disconnecting and then reconnecting.
If so, what is the result of ifconfig -a in your guest?
Does it show the same subnet as your host?

Just an FYI. Nowadays with most Linux distros when no other arguments are given with -a, -a is implied and therefore it is not necessary as it will not output any additional information then ifconfig already does by itself.
