These are rigorously tested against all known cylinder lock attack methods: Anti-pick, Anti-drill, Anti-bump and Anti-snap. All our cylinders are approved with Secured by Design, an official police initiative to help ‘design out’ crime through the use of high-quality innovative products. Our entrance doors come with shoot lock bolts that lock into place when you turn the handle, so when they’re shut and locked, you know your home is safe from unwelcome visitors

Front and Back Doors FAQ

The cost of a new front door varies depending on the material and style you choose. uPVC is usually the cheapest option, followed by composite, aluminium and wood. Our team will talk through the cost of an Anglian front door during your home visit.

The main differences between uPVC and Composite doors are the materials used to manufacture them, uPVC doors consist of panels which are constructed mainly from plastic (uPVC) with MDF and insulation sandwiched in between, whereas Composite front doors are thicker and made of a selection of materials including a solid timber or insulated foam core, high impact glass-reinforced polyester skin and with more design and colour options.

Whether you choose a uPVC or composite front door, both are strong, secure and guaranteed for 10 years.

The best doors for security are those with a multi-point locking system with 3-star cylinders a deadlock and hinges with long screws or bolts. Look for the Kitemark on our Yale and Ultion locks which come with their own security guarantee.

The best type of door for your home is one that is secure, draught-free and suits your style. Composite and uPVC external doors are the most versatile and affordable. Large glass panels on a front or back door can make your home vulnerable to burglars who could smash the glass, reach inside and open the lock. Anglian glazed doors are fitted with toughened glass as standard which is harder to break. We’d also recommend installing a deadbolt lock so both sides of the door require a key to unlock.

A single door can be as narrow as 400mm, as wide as 1130mm and as tall as 2700mm. For larger apertures, it can be specified as a French door, and smaller panels are available as side lights. Alternatively, you could opt to add Origin Windows to the sides or top of your door choice as fixed panes (flags) to ensure it fits into an aperture of any size, as well as ensuring a wholly integrated look throughout.

You can also specify a door with a mid-rail. The elegantly executed horizontally fixed bar is available in two options – a 60:40 split or a 50:50 split. Popular in porches, the mid-rail separates out sections in the door, so can either accommodate glass on both the top and bottom, or a panel can be used in the lower section for additional privacy.

Among the many stylish accessories that you can add to your Origin Front Door, is a fashionable doorknocker. For more traditional homes or properties, choose the classically styled Affinity Urn knocker, a timeless design that fuses modern symmetry with traditional character. If a contemporary look is more your penchant, our vertical slim-line knocker will work wonderfully. Both models have an integrated spyhole and escutcheon plate.

Stylish and practical letterboxes

Keeping the warmth in and the cold out, our sleek letterbox with contoured edges is available in 5 different colours to complement any finish. The fully sprung external flap opens to 180°, easily accommodating your A4 letters – keeping the postman nice and happy. There’s also an internal draught seal and external weather seal to protect your home from the elements.

Which is why the Origin Front Door has been designed with heightened protection in mind – from ultra-safe locking systems to different barrel choices and a range of additional security features. Origin Front Doors have also been accredited with the Secured By Design certification.

Tamper-proof barrels

All of our doors are equipped with a multipoint locking system and come equipped with a 3 Star Diamond cylinder as standard. The cylinder is proven to protect against snapping, picking, drilling and bumping – offering a proven defence that is second to none.

In addition, according to which handle you select, you will either be able to specify a 5-point automatic locking system or Origin’s industry-leading 8-point multipoint locking system.

The 5-point automatic locking system

Doors with a bar or pull bar handle come with an impressive 5-point automatic locking system with key-only access. So you’re able to simply shut and lock the door without having to lift the handle first.

The 8-point automatic locking system

If you choose one of the Yale security lever handles, this will be supplied with our unique 8-point multipoint lock mechanism with an offset spindle function. This features chamfered 20mm linear bolts that provide a smoother operation when engaging the lock. They also give maximum compression for optimum weather resistance. Finally, 25mm security hooks offer the deepest engagement available on the market today. The result is a lock that delivers the best in both security and weatherproofing.

Additional security and safety features

The Origin Front Door comes with specifically designed hinges as standard. These have been engineered to withstand attack, offering little opportunity for even the most determined intruder.

And, as ever, aesthetics aren’t forgotten – allowing you to select either a stainless steel hinge or a colour-coordinate hinge in any of the RAL colours.

Plus, to protect little fingers, all our doors boast finger-safe gaskets.

For a seamless transition between indoor and out, as well as protection against the elements, we offer 3 thermally broken threshold choices.

Weathered and non-weathered options are available, allowing you to select your threshold according to how exposed to the elements your door will be.

Weathered threshold

No matter what the weather is doing outside, our cleverly engineered weathered threshold ensures your home stays watertight and protected from the elements.

Non-weathered threshold

The non-weathered options offer a level floor-finish, allowing for a smooth transition between the inside and out. Two options are available – the standard non-weather option, or the ultra-low mobility threshold, which stands at a mere 20mm when the door is open, making it ideal for wheelchair use.

These thresholds are more recommended for internal usage, making them ideal for flats, doors enclosed inside a front porch, or doors that aren’t fully exposed to the weather.

The strength of high-grade aluminium

No matter which style of Origin Front Door you opt for, all are manufactured with premium-grade aluminium, which is comprised of only prime billets. It’s exceptionally strong, yet weighs 67% less than steel. And because our aluminium isn’t made up of re-melted scraps, it gives us greater control over its formulation.

And unlike timber or uPVC, it’s resilient to the elements too – so the frames won’t warp, flex or corrode.
