Yesterday I installed Windows 10 Pro 64 bit but the audio never worked. The motherboard is AS-ROCK G41M-S3.
The audio icon has a red X and says «No audio output device installed«.
In Device Manager I have no audio device listed and no yellow triangle. The only audio device is under «System device» where I have «High definition audio controller».
In the BIOS hd-audio is enabled.
The last audio driver from asrock is Realtek R2.31 for win 7 but after installation the problem remains still the same.
I tried also installing the last Realtek driver R2.79 but with no luck.
In Event Viewer I have this error:
Bucket errato , tipo 0
Event name: PnPGenericDriverFound
Response: Not available
I file potrebbero essere disponibili qui:
What can I do? Can the problem be that the chipset drivers are too old and so the Realtek HD audio device is not found? I can’t find chipset newer driver. 🙁 Thank you

I’ve just checked the Rock site and your Motherboard is not certified to work with any OS later than Windows 7. There have been no official BIOS or Driver Updates for the Motherboard provided since 2012. So you may be ‘on your own’ on this one with no manufacturer support. Microsoft is unlikely to be able to do anything to provide driver updates for unsupported hardware, except for generic drivers.
Sorry if that sounds negative, but you may have to resign yourself to the fact that the Motherboard is just ‘too old’ to be fully compatible with anything later than Windows 7, unless you can track down any newer drivers for the non-functioning components. There are some Realtek Drivers mentioned here which are apparently compatible with later versions of Windows — http://www.tenforums.com/drivers-hardware/5993-latest-realtek-hd-audio-driver-version.html#post237190
but I have no idea if they would work for you.

Erdeslawe, thank for you attention.
Can the problem lie in the chipset driver? I think that because the audio device is not detected.

I already tried the driver at the link you provided. With R2.77 and R.79 I have no installation problem but the device is still not detected. However I don’t know how to install the last version because there is no setup file, but a bounch of executables that seem to do nothing.
Now I’ll try to play with «Controller High Definition Audio».
Then I don’t know if to try with Windows 8.1 or Windows 7. This computer it’s like a pain for me.
Windows 10 «No Audio Output Device is Installed»
Hello. I’m running Windows 10 on my PC and have been for a couple years now, and about a week ago it updated to the (I think) the latest version of 1709 (OS build 16299.125, as it says in Winver). Ever since then I’ve been having various problems, most of which I’ve been able to slowly fix, but there is one problem that I can’t seem to fix no matter what I try. The problem I’m referring to is that the sound has stopped working on my computer.
The sound icon on the desktop says «no audio output device is installed» and trying to run the troubleshooter through the sound icon comes up with no results, it says that it couldn’t identify any problems. I did try clicking on the button to view detailed information and under the Playing Audio list it shows «issues found» and «check audio device». Across from it is says «detected». Under the Issues Found list it says «check audio device» and «there might be a problem with your audio device», and across from it is says «detected». Also, going into the Sound window from the speaker icon, it shows no drivers listed. I have an Nvidia sound card that I’m using and it’s been working fine, even with Windows 10, until the latest update that is.
The Device Manager lists four «NVIDIA High Definition Audio» drivers and I’ve tried updating all of them, which it just says that they’re up to date, and I’ve tried uninstalling them all, restarting the computer and then in the Device Manager checking for hardware changes, but that hasn’t done anything. Also in the Device Manager, under «other hardware», is a listing for «Multimedia Audio Controller» and I tried updating it but it just says «Windows was unable to install your Multimedia Audio Controller» and «Windows could not find drivers for your device». I also tried uninstalling this driver and it didn’t do anything, either.
Here are some things that I’ve tried. -Uninstalled all four «NVIDIA High Definition Audio» drivers from the Device Manager, restarted the computer, and scanned for hardware changes. -Uninstalled «Multimedia Audio Controller» from the Device Manger (listed under «other hardware»), restarted the computer, and scanned for hardware changes. -Ran the «troubleshoot sound problems» from the sound icon on the tray. -Tried up update «Multimedia Audio Controller» from the Device Manger, but it only came back with «Windows was unable to install your Multimedia Audio Controller» and «Windows could not find drivers for your device». -Tried to update all four «NVIDIA High Definition Audio» drivers, but it said that they’re already up-to-date. -Downloaded the Windows 7 64 bit on-board audio driver for my motherboard here. https://us.msi.com/Motherboard/suppo. iver&Win7%2064 -Downloaded the Windows 10 64 bit on-board audio driver for my motherboard here. http://www.driverscape.com/manufacturers/msi/laptops-desktops/p35-platinum%28ms-7345%29/3186 -Downloaded a Windows 7/8 driver for my NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti. -Downloaded a Windows 10 driver for my NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti. -Tried changing «NVIDIA High Definition Audio» to the default Windows «High Definition Audio» in the Device Manager.
Here are the hardware IDs for the NVIDIA High Definition Audio driver listings, in case it helps. All four drives have the same IDs.
Does anyone know how I can fix this problem and get sound working on my computer again? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
