(SecurityHealthSystray.exe)
Windows Security notification icon —
SecurityHealthSystray.exe.
Windows 10 Notification Icon
How does the Notification Icon work in Windows 10?
If there’s no notifications it has a black background, which turns white if there are notifications.
But what about the little circle that sometimes appears on the bottom right-hand corner of it?

I’m not having any problems with it, I just want to understand it better.
Yes I do mean the Action Centre notification.
As I understand it: if it has a black background then there is no notifications; but it turns white if there are any.
What I would like to know is, what is the little circle that sometime appear on it’s lower right-hand corner?

I discovered what the true meaning of the circle is. After noticing it hadn’t much to do with if the notifications are read I wandered if it maybe had to do something with it being in a particular mode/state.
Then I realized (and proofed by turning it on and off) that it indicates if «quiet hours» are turned on. Quiet hours will basically mute all notifications while it’s on. I guess it runs on an automatic clock but I can’t find the settings for quiet hours.
Its purpose is to prevent you’re getting disturbed by your phone or tablet whilst sleeping. I wander if I can turn the automatic quiet hours clock off so I still get e-mail notifications for example if I’m working at the evening.
Hope that answered your question and please tell me if you discover where the «Quiet hours» setting is.
EDIT: Btw, you can manually turn on/off Quiet hours by right clicking on the notification icon and selecting the option.

I guess it goes automatically on by default. Most people don’t fine tune their settings really and Microsoft probably doesn’t want to be the culprit of people complaining their device disturbs them at night. That’s why they set it to go on and off in an automatic cycle. Question is, how can we totally disable Quiet hours without it possibly going back on? My quick research only resulted on how to do that in Windows 8. Keep me updated if you find out.

Resurrecting an old thread because I got curious about the notification icon today and started reading up about it. According to what I have read, there is no way to change the actual hours for «Quiet Hours» to be active; it is automatically set for 12AM to 6AM for your time zone. I have no idea why MS thought this would be helpful- do you know anyone that only sleeps from 12-6AM or who wants this to be the only time period during which she/he does not want to be disturbed? Might have been a useful tool if you could set it up according to your personal schedule, but the way MS implemented it, it is pretty useless!
To turn off «Quiet Hours» just right click on the notification icon and choose «turn off quiet hours» or left click on the icon and click on the «Quiet Hours» box to turn it off. Presumably once you turn it off the schedule won’t turn it back on, but it doesn’t do to assume anything as far as common sense is concerned when it comes to Microsoft!
It doesn’t really bother me one way or the other, but I decided to test the «theory» that turning it off will keep it off. I turned off «Quiet Hours» this morning; I will see if it turns itself back on and will post back here one way or the other.
Notifications and action center not working in Windows 10.
The «notifications» icon in the Windows 10 task bar tells me I have new notifications, but when I click on it, I cannot access them. And when I right click, I also cannot access «action center».

Tried both Method 1 & 2. Both reported corrupt files but could not fix them. Method 2 said ‘source’ files could not be found. Still cannot get to Notifications or the Action Center. Also, when I click on lower left Windows icon, it does not bring up anything. I do need some assistance to get things working again.
Windows
