Set up email in Mac OS X Mail
If you’re running Mac OS X version 10.10 or later, you can use the Mac Mail, Calendar, and Contacts apps to connect to a Microsoft Exchange account. How do I know what version I have?
If just want to manage your Exchange email account on the Mac, you can use the Mac Mail app to connect to your account using Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) or Post Office Protocol (POP).
Set up Exchange account access using Outlook for Mac
If you have Outlook for Mac, you can use it to access your Exchange account. See Add an email account to Outlook for instructions.
Set up Exchange account access using Mac OS X 10.10 or later
If you’re running Mac OS X version 10.10 or later, follow these steps to set up an Exchange email account:
Open Mail, and then do one of the following:
If you’ve never used Mail to set up an email account, the Welcome to Mail page opens. Go to step 2.
If you’ve used Mail to create email accounts, select Mail > Add Account.
Select Exchange > Continue.
Enter the name, email address and password for your Exchange account > Sign In.
Choose the Mac apps you want to use with this account. Available choices are Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Reminders, and Notes.
If the Mail program isn’t able to set up your account automatically, wait a few minutes or a few hours, and then repeat these steps. If after repeating the steps Mail still isn’t able to set up your account automatically, see What else do I need to know? in this article.
Set up POP or IMAP on Mac OS X
If you just want to manage your Exchange email on the Mac, you can also set up POP or IMAP access to your account.
Open Mail, and then do one of the following:
If you’ve never used Mail to set up an email account, the Welcome to Mail page opens. Go to step 2.
If you’ve used Mail to create email accounts, on the Mail > Add Account.
Select Other Mail Account > Continue.
Enter the name, email address and password for your account > Sign In.
If you see Unable to verify account name or password, select Next to enter your settings manually.
Enter the following details
In the Email Address and User Name boxes, type your email address.
In the Password box, type the password for the email account.
In Account Type , choose IMAP or POP. IMAP supports more features.
In Incoming Mail Server, type the IMAP or POP3 server name. If you’re connecting to your Microsoft 365 email, the IMAP or POP server name is outlook.office365.com. If you’re not using Microsoft 365, see POP and IMAP email settings for Outlook.
In Outgoing Mail Server, type the SMTP server name. If you’re connecting to your Microsoft 365 email, the SMTP server name is smtp.office365.com. If you’re not using Microsoft 365, see POP and IMAP email settings for Outlook.
Note: If the mail account configuration isn’t successful, repeat step 4 and try again.
Next choose the Mac apps you want to use with this account. Available choices are Mail and Notes.
What else do I need to know?
Some issues are resolved just by updating to the latest available released version of Mac OS X. See the Apple web site for update instructions.
Connecting to your email account through Mail for Mac may fail if you haven’t registered your account. If your email account is the type that requires registration, you can register it the first time you sign in to Outlook on the web . After you sign in to your account, sign out. Then try to connect using Mail for Mac. For more information about how to sign in to your account using Outlook Web App, see Sign in to Outlook.
If your account isn’t set up after following the steps in this article, contact your help desk.

Instagram doesnt work
All other apps do fit perfectly into one spot for your IM needs. Only problem is Instagram doesnt give the option to see, reply, or send messages. If they have it on there, should be able to use it for IM like all the other apps on there. Instagram can only be used to see and like pics on your profile already. Please fix this.
Good tool with minor minor caveats
I had previously reported that the tool stopped working with google hangouts. It took 5 or more months to get resovled but finally did. It must be challenging to keep up with all the different chat protocols.
This is the tradeoff. You will get 97% of the features and not all clients can possibly stay working at all times due to changes out of control of the IM+ team. But overall, reducing the chatter and running applications (all with their own windows) is a benefit of running them all separately. If something stops working, go ahead and run it on the web or in the dedicated client. You’ll still have a much better experience overall.
Some other minor things:
-LinkedIn doesn’t show you notifications (there are likely others) but you can easily use and test. Twitter always shows exactly 2 notifcations lol but these don’t matter
-“Services” menu does not work. For me this is how I access google translate with selected text; however all mac applications should make the clipboard available to this function
Good:
Interface. Clean and simple
Adding new chat accounts: Easy.
Great: Concept solid- saves lots of screen real estate, audible notifications seem to work well.
Developer Response ,
Thanks for your feedback! We will work on fixing the issues you described.
been waiting YEARS for something like this. FINALLY! so far works ok but has some limitations.
The window is ‘non-standard’ and does not remember size or position or last service used between launches.
Each ‘service’ has its own separate process and so the app as a whole can use many GB of memory if you have more than 2-3 services.
the ‘web app’ versions of each service are limited in functionality (no font control, no back/forward buttons, etc)
Nevertheless is better having all the services under ‘one roof’ and better to use when sitting behind a computer than always reaching for phone.
Good idea. but really overpriced. as is worth $4 max. I would pay up to $10 if everything worked well with more control and better standards (NO RIGHT CLICK OR SPELL CHECK. ).

Absolutely Love this App
I have been using this app for about a week. Previously, I would leave Google Mail up and running so I could monitor my inbox. Unfortunately, this slowed my MacBook Pro down quite a bit. I would also get a message regularly informing me that «this webpage was using a great deal of memory and that shutting it down would improve my Mac’s performance. I have since closed Google Mail and opened this app. My Mac now runs much, much faster and I still get to monitor my inbox. I am fairly computer savvy (I know just enough to be dangerous) and I truly have no idea how the developer has been able to make this thing work the way it does. I am, however, etremely grateful that he or she created this app. Thanks so much.
I find this App very useful! Only wish the settings had more options!
I personally find having ‘Mail for Gmail’ very convenient and useful , especially since I can have it open at all times while I’m on the computer working, and during the times I am on the Internet I don’t have to stop, open a new tab, and login threw the website. However, I do wish it had all the same «settings» you can access through the website Gmail. It would make it the ultimate program if it did have those options. Especially since when I am having issues with my Gmail account, the ‘Mail for Gmail’ works fine and the web version can have problems logging in but not here. I can still access my emails in this program without problems. Therefore, if the settings were available here to help troubleshoot problems with passwords or others related, being able to just go to my full set of settings would make this ideal!! Otherwise, it’s my app I use daily as I have multiple accounts for very important and separate business or personal uses. «Knock on Wood,» I have yet to have ANY issues with it and I’ve been using it daily for about 8 months!! Therefore, I do highly suggest this app, just know it does have certain limitations, as I mentioned limited settings options, you will still have to go to your actual Gmail account online for those, but that is understandable, as this is not your actual Gmail, it’s a companion program to help with reasons I listed above for why it is so convenient.
Best of the free gmail options IMO
I dont like the ad nags, but there are really only a few of them and they are very rare. That being said maybe give us a paid version. The app works perfetly, and provides a super clean interface for me now that Inbox as been killed. We know all these gmail apps are basically a webpage wrapped up in an app window package, which is fine- but to me the best of these apps are the ones that add the LEAST to gmail. This one is super simple. Some of them you cant remove from the menu bar but this one you can and i love that. i like a clean menu bar. This one has a compact mode that is also nice and looks as if it was based on an iOS design which works great. One other thing to note is the responsiveness of this one compared to others. its super fast. If you close the window on the others it take a full second lag to open another window. I hate that, on a new mac when its running it should be instant and this one is. Prolly cuz this one does not have added toolbars and such in the app itself. Just give me a paid, no ad option and id say 5 stars!

Great email concept but has a few bugs to work out.
So far I absolutlely love the Canary Mail concept. The email tracking was my leading reason to switch to Canary versus Apple Mail or Outlook. But when sending an email to multiple recipients it only shows when the first time the email is opened. It doesn’t show who opened it. That is frustrating as I need to know when both or multiple people open the email. A future feature I’d like to see is not just when they first open it but how many times they open it before responding. As far as bugs some email accounts show unread messages but when I go through all of the emails in that account there is not a single email unread. If I try to filter the inbox for unread it shows nothing yet next to the account it shows 3 unread emails. If I go to my actual email account via a browser there isn’t an email that is unread. Another feature missing is a junk folder for each email account. It is only available for the Unified email viewing. I have to go to my browser to login to the individual email accounts to see my junk mail under each one. If some of this was addressed I would totally have given the app 5 stars and wouldn’t call it a concept.
An app with a clean design and bells & whistles that aren’t just shiny
Canary Mail is a really good application and let me be clear, I am *really* picky with email apps. There are some fantastic features here but the first thing that stands out is the clean UI and design. The “beautify message text” option i.e. reformatting incoming messages works better than it sounds and as a result, emails look great. I like that fonts can be customized for outgoing email and that there are plenty of bells and whistles for compisition. Coming to the flagship feature, the track-email option is great — it’s the pro-user email feature you never knew you wanted. There are still some concerns here as mentioned in other reviews where you don’t know who opened a multi-recipient email first etc. but it functions well on the whole. Finally, snooze and ‘to-do/pin’ option assist with inbox-zero whereas ‘follow-up’ is a nice feature for reminding you to follow-up on sent emails. Canary Mail is stable most of the time although it can get a little buggy from time to time. All in all, this is a really good application and is worth the $$$; it works better than Airmail for me, and has jumped right to the top of the email app chain!
Developer Response ,
Hi, please share details about any bugs you’ve noticed here: https://canarymail.canny.io/bugs
Loved it, then it stopped working & they have very slow support
This applications looked great to me and I was enjoying using it. However, after about 2 months, when retrieving older email messages, the app finds the email but never displays the contents. The spinning cog just goes on forever. If you need help with a problem good luck. If you are lucky enough to have a question that they have posted then you will get whatever information they have provided. However, if not, there is no mechanism that I have found to contact support. You will be in the dark. I am going back to Apple Mail to get the information I need. I have been doing this more and more so at this point, I should just go back to Apple Mail. Bottom line, nice product but has serious issues with no recourse to fix them. I have found that sometimes if I double click on the email the contents will appear — inconsistently.
Just updating this post. Canary did get back to me with a request to send them further information. It took them about I found a feedback form by accident. However, no resolution to my problems yet. Also, I have started noticing that attachments are missing in Canary while they are visible in Apple Mail. Bugs. Fundamental bugs. And support is a once every other day email. email is critical for me and this app is not reliable.
