Not working on Windows 7 Pro for the OnePlus 8T+
Installs but is unidentified by windows in device manager(code 28). Tried forcing it and it briefly now shows up under android but keeps dropping, then reconnecting continuously and the phone keeps displaying the usb debugging connection popup.
Rebooted both phone and pc and reinstalled drivers – but still unstable. Also tried different usb ports on pc and 2 different cables to phone.

Update – I reinstalled and it looked like it was working fine…. until the phone was 100% charged – then it kept dropping and reconnecting the usb connection. There is something that the phone is doing when the battery is fully charged that is interfering with the usb connection – I don’t think it has anything to do with the driver on my pc.

I installed the driver package that is presented to windows when you connect the phone directly to a PC. I use windows 8.1.

I verified that the drivers are installed by checking “programs and features”. It clearly says “OnePlus USB Drivers 1.00”.

I attempted to use ADB and it never listed my device even though windows detects the device (which is how i installed the drivers in the first place).

Thankfully, I understand windows. I went to device manager and saw “adb device” (and sometimes “oneplus”) with a small yellow triangle. This means that the device drivers aren’t installed for this device.

Then I manually attempted to install the drivers by right clicking the device and selecting “update driver software..”. I clicked “browse my computer for driver software” and navigated to “C:\Program Files (x86)\OnePlus USB Drivers”.

The drivers began to install and i thought i was done.

I then got the error:

“Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device.
Windows found driver software for your device but encoutered an error while attempting to install it. The hash for the file is not present in the specified catalog file. The file is likely corrupt or the victim of tampering.”

The only way I was able to install the driver was to reboot windows into advanced startup and select option 7 to “disable device driver signing”. I then repeated the above install process, got a warning to install the driver, and accepted the risk.

I can now use ADB.
