Open recently closed windows

Hello,
as it says in the title I can’t open the recently closed window.
I had two Opera windows, one with 1 tab and one with about 7 tabs. They have been closed and when I ran Opera again only the 1-tab window opened, I can’t find a way to open the second window, where I had pretty important stuff. Is it even possible?

(sorry for my bad English, it’s hard to make a good sentence when I’m still learning)

Continue where I left off only works for all windows if you go to the Opera menu and exit the browser in one go. If you close the windows one at a time it only saves the last one left open.

You can reopen windows via the Recent tabs menu. Its the funny icon next to the minimize button in the upper right of the window. Ctrl+Shift+T also works but only if the browser hasn’t been exited and reopened IIRC.

You can also check your browser history. The easiet way to get in there is to click the History link at the bottom of the speed dial.

Thanks for your reply, but that doesn’t work
I tried Ctrl+Shift+T earlier which didn’t do anything for me and it still does not. That magic arrow aka «Recent tabs menu» shows only the tabs which are opened at the moment and nothing more for the reason I don’t know. I guess I’ll have to dive into the history, but some tabs were opened about half a year ago. That’s gonna be fun.

For me the recent tabs menu shows my last 3 windows, my last 10 closed tabs in the current window, and all open tabs in the current window, in that order.

UndoClose for Windows reopens recently closed folders and apps

In the Windows OS, there is no option to reopen closed folders or apps. That means, if you have navigated through a long path in Windows and closed the window mistakenly, you cannot go back to that same folder or window automatically. Obviously, you can get an option named “Recent Places” or “Quick Access”, but you cannot get all those folders automatically. You will have to open them manually. The same thing happens with any software window as well. If you have closed any software window by mistake, you will have to do all those things again after restarting the software.

All popular web browsers have a keyboard shortcut. That is Ctrl+Shift+T, which lets you re-open recently closed tabs and browser windows. That means, if you have closed any browser tab by mistake, you can easily get that back with that keyboard shortcut and without entering the web page URL. The most beautiful thing is you can open a recently closed browser window even after hibernate.

To solve this problem, there is a software called UndoClose, which will let you do this easily. The most interesting thing is UndoClose is a portable and free software that is available for Windows 10/8/7. You, however, need to have Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 installed on your computer, or else this portable tool won’t work.

UndoClose for Windows

UndoClose is a very easy to use the software. It doesn’t come with any complicated option. Hence, it won’t take more than a few couples of seconds to understand the workflow. UndoClose can open recently closed apps and folders without any limitation. The interface is well decorated. UndoClose opens recently closed windows and apps using keyboard shortcuts. Therefore, you will get an option to change the keyboard shortcuts and set it according to your wish. Otherwise, it doesn’t contain any other option.

Reopen last closed folder or window

To use UndoClose, download and open it at first. As this is a portable software, you will not have to install it. After downloading, just extract the .zip file and place the folder anywhere.

Following that, double-click on UndoClose.exe file to open the software. You will get an Undo button in your system tray.

Just click on the button to open UndoClose panel. The UndoClose panel looks like this:

There are two different keyboard shortcuts. One is for opening the last closed folder, and then another one is for opening recently closed apps. You can change those hotkeys by entering a new one. However, after settings up, you will have to hit the Change button.

Now, if your keyboard shortcuts are set, you can easily open closed apps and folder by pressing the predefined keys.

It has another option to start UndoClose at system startup but depends on your requirements.

Please make it possible to restore recently closed windows, with all the tabs that they contained, if they were closed with File > Close Window . I usually close workspaces this way, and sometimes I’d like to restore them quickly.

@bpasero Not exactly. When I open something with that menu, it replaces my current window, when I don’t want to do that.

@garyking you can hold Ctrl/Cmd -key to force open into a new window.

I’m re-opening this, because I notice that the method suggested only works if I’m re-opening a closed workspace. But if the window is not a workspace, then I can’t restore it with the tabs that it had open.

While i was browsing and accidentally closed my other windows, i go to history and click «Recently Closed Windows» but it didn’t pop up. I have tried uninstall and re-install it, open and closed it many times, and restarting but it didn’t worked (oh but it’s just when i use «Restore Previous Session» so i tried without using «Restore Previous Session» it just worked normally). How i fix it?
