Just a suggestion for building a low budget Hackintosh that will work without a whole lot of wailing and gnashing of the teeth.
There are a bazillion of these boxes out there, often available on skids by the pound. Businesses bought these machines by the droves, and have since replaced them in their latest «PC Refresh.» The 755/760 came in several different form factors from mini-tower to «ultra-small form factor.» I am a fan of small and quiet, so my choice is the small form factor desktop. These machines generally came equipped with a Core 2 Duo processor in the 2.4-2.8 GHz range, which will run Mountain Lion (and prior Intel) quite nicely. Occasionally you may find one with a Core 2 Quad. Yippee!
Tip: If possible, choose the 760 over the 755, for the simple reason that it is likely newer and there’s a couple of capacitors that will get in your way in the 755 if the video card you choose has any sort of sizeable heat sink. Yes, the Optiplex 745 will work, too. but it is likely equipped with a slower «Pentium D» or «Pentium Dual Core» processor in the 1.8GHz range.
What you will need:
(It is likely everything you need but the graphics card is included with your «junk» system. )
Dell Optiplex 755/760 in the form factor of your choosing
4 GB DDR2 PC2-6400 RAM (2 will work, 8 is great)(there are 4 slots)(max per stick is 2GB)
40 GB or larger SATA HDD
USB Mouse and Keyboard,
Monitor and other accessories as necessary.
Purchased copy of OS/X 10.8.x
Just about any cheap NVIDIA late-model PCIe video card. Make sure it is «low profile convertible» if you plan on using it in the smaller form factor cases.
Nice-to-have: USB sound card, preferably one with Co-Axial or Toslink SPDIF output.
What to do?
Follow the great guides available here on tonymacx86.com for 10.6, 7, 8. to install the OS to your assembled machine.
Use «easybeast» setup in the «Multibeast» section of the guides. The only other options to check are
Audio / Universal / VooDooHDA 0.2.1 (not necessary if you have/use USB sound card)
Network / hnak’s AppleIntelE1000e Ethernet
Reboot and you’re pretty much done.
I have built more than two dozen of these machines for my friends and enemies. If you scavenge parts and shop wisely, one can be build for WELL under $100 USD.

Судя по конфигурации, наиболее проблемным местом является видеокарта. В Интернете можно найти предостаточно мануалов по её заводке, но гарантировать 100%-ного успеха вам никто не может. Попробуйте начать с этой или этой инструкции. К счастью, со звуковой картой всё будет проще — достаточно поставить драйвер VoodooHDA.kext.
Шум вентиляторов связан с тем, что встроенные в Mac OS X механизмы управления питанием и энергосбережением не работают, из-за этого система охлаждения выставляется на максимальные обороты. Чтобы заставить работать «родное» энергосбережение OS X, нужен целый ряд процедур:
- активация автоматического генерирования C-States и P-States для процессора в настройках загрузчика Chameleon (ключи GeneratePStates и GenerateCStates)
- пропатчивание DSDT-таблиц (там нужно прописать секции HPET и LPC) — для этого скачайте утилиту DSDTSE или DSDT AutoPatcher
- удаление кекста-заглушки NullCPUPowerManagement.kext из /System/Library/Extensions
Вполне возможно, что после этого вентиляторы перестанут шуметь.

Энтузиаст из США под ником Zane выпустил программу OldOS, которая «вплоть до пикселя» имитирует операционную систему iOS 4, вышедшую в 2010 году для iPhone 3G. Об этом 18-летний программист рассказал в своем твиттере.
OldOS в деталях воссоздает старую операционку Apple — включая классический экран блокировки с обоями в виде капель на стекле и слайдером «Разблокируйте» (Slide to unlock), кнопку «Домой», а также иконки, оформленные в стиле скевоморфизма (текстуры с кожаной строчкой в «Календаре», деревянные полки в iBooks, вкладка уведомлений с фоном «под джинсы»).

I have a Dell 755 USFF — I’m running the A22 BIOS found here — I’d like help to remove the CPU limitation on running Quad core chips. The reason they’ve added this limitation is due to the smaller Power Supply Unit they provided on the USFF. Can someone help? The Intel Chipset is the Q35
Hey guys, I’m new to this forum. I have a Dell Optiplex that currently has a Core 2 Duo in it, and I want to do the Xeon LGA771 to LGA775 mod. Before I buy the processor and mod sticker, I want to know if my BIOS will support it or not, and if not can someone make a mod for me? It is Dell’s A22 I believe, if not I will upgrade to it. I know nothing about BIOS mods. I just don’t want to waste money on it if the BIOS won’t work. So someone please just download the Optiplex 755 A22 bios and mod it for me or something
Thanks for the reply! Are you sure that the chipset will not support it? The 5xxx series processors are the exact same thing as the 9xxx C2Q processors, just for a different motherboard, a lower price, and a different name. I saw a forum in which someone got a C2Q working in a 745 USFF (or something like that), which is a lot like the one I have, but I believe it does have a different GPU. Multiple people argued that his chipset wouldn’t support it, but in the end he reported that he got it working.
Yes, the problem is that the 5xxx series processors are for multiprocessor systems. While many Core2 chipsets will support them running solo (P45, P43, P35, P31, P965 G45, G43, G41, G35, G33, G31), some will not (Q45, Q43, Q35, Q33 X48, X38). You can still run Xeons, just not the really cheap ones.

He didn’t get a 9xxx working. He went with the recommended Q6600, a 65nm chip with 1066mhz FSB and the same processor successfully used on other Q965 machines. Источник |
