Oracle Client — это программа, которая позволяет работать с базой данных Oracle, установленной на удаленном компьютере или сервере. Как и указано в названии, приложение представляет собой клиентскую часть, которая предназначена для выполнения авторизации, проверки прав доступа и составления запросов. То есть благодаря ей вы можете «общаться» с БД, используя для этого хоть и несколько архаичный, но все же удобный интерфейс.

Версии

Несмотря на то, что на момент написания данного обзора самой свежей является версия 12.0, наиболее «популярна» версия 11g. Именно ее чаще всего используют на предприятиях. Клиент доступен в вариантах для 32 битных и 64 битных операционных систем. Важный момент заключается в том, что версия x32 дает возможность работать Toad, SQL Developer и другими визуальными инструментами. В версии x64 такая возможность, к сожалению, отсутствуют.

Инсталляция

В процессе установки ПО пользователю будет предоставлена возможность выбрать один из трех вариантов: Instant Client, Administrator, Runtime и Custom. Первый вариант предполагает установку исключительно разделенных библиотек. При выборе Administrator в дополнительные к библиотекам будет инсталлирована также консоль администратора (Oracle Manager Standalone Console). Runtime устанавливает большой пакет дополнительных инструментов, упрощающих взаимодействие с БД. Ну и вариант Custom, как несложно догадаться, будет полезен тем, кто желает самостоятельно выбрать компоненты для установки.

После выбора режима установщик выполнит все необходимые операции самостоятельно. Oracle Client не требует дополнительных драйверов и самостоятельно прописывает в меню автозагрузки. Скачать клиент можно совершенно бесплатно.

Freeware

In some cases, ads may be show to the users.

Demo programs have a limited functionality for free, but charge for an advanced set of features or for the removal of advertisements from the program’s interfaces. In some cases, all the functionality is disabled until the license is purchased. Demos are usually not time-limited (like Trial software) but the functionality is limited.

Trial

Trial software allows the user to evaluate the software for a limited amount of time. After that trial period (usually 15 to 90 days) the user can decide whether to buy the software or not. Even though, most trial software products are only time-limited some also have feature limitations.

Usually commercial software or games are produced for sale or to serve a commercial purpose.

Oracle Client – это официальный клиент (программа), благодаря которому вы можете работать в базе данных Oracle. Вы получаете доступ базе данных, которая находится на стороннем компьютере, подсоединившись через удаленный сервер.

Воспользуйтесь этим клиентом и войдите в профиль, а также просканируйте права доступа и составления запросов. В этом клиенте вы можете работать в собственной БД. Этот софт можно установить на компьютер с OS Windows.

Войдя в эту программу, вы сможете просматривать БД, используя «проводниковую структуру файлов», но с практичным интерфейсом и оболочкой.

Версии

Сейчас в сети можно скачать этот клиент с «билдом» 12.0, но версия 11g считается намного лучше. Клиент Oracle Client 11g устанавливают на многих предприятиях и организациях. Софт можно устанавливать на компьютеры, в которых операционная система поддерживает 32 и 64 битную структуру файлов.

Главная особенность 32 разрядной версии программы – это поддержка Toad, SQL Developer и прочих инструментов визуализации. Версия x64 не подходит для подключения сторонних модулей.

Инсталляция

Устанавливая этот софт, вы выбираете тип установки: Instant Client, Administrator, Runtime и Custom. Инсталлировав клиент в первом режиме, вы сможете работать с разделенными библиотеками.

Указав Administrator, вы установите консоль администратора, которая интегрируется в дополнительные библиотеки клиента. В режиме Runtime вы инсталлируете пакет файлов вспомогательных утилит для простой обработки готовой базы данных.

В режиме «Custom» вы сами подбираете составные части, а потом установить их. Выбрав режим инсталляции, нажмите установить и подождите, пока установщик скопирует все файлы.

Полноценная работа софта доступна без инсталляции вспомогательных модулей и драйверов. Oracle Client также поддерживает работу через меню автозагрузки операционной системы. Этот клиент доступен для закачки в бесплатном режиме.

Oracle Clietn необходим для удаленного подключения к базе данных разного рода программ. Программы, написанные на Java — так называемые (тонкие клиенты), могут обходится и без клиента. Например, SQL Developer и JDeveloper. Это также относится и к web приложениям, которые запущены непосредственно на сервере, такие как APEX, Enterprise Manager, iSQLPLUS.

Для подключения остальных программ TOAD, PL/SQL Developer, SQL PLUS и большинства других, требуется библиотека oci.dll (oracle call interface), которая собственно и предоставляет такую возможность и разумеется она включена в набор всевозможных дополнительных программ, которые объединены под одним общим названием Oracle Client.

Скачать дистрибутив Oracle Client можно с rutracker или более позднюю версию с официального сайта. Если у Вас есть доступ к MetaLink, рекомендуется качать самую последнюю версию именно оттуда.

Устанавливать 64 битный клиент конечно можно и с ним замечательно будет работать sqlplus. Правда PL/SQL Developer пока умеет работать только с 32-х битным клиентом, поэтому ниже описывается именно он

UPD. Версия PL/SQL Developer 14.0.1 умеет работать с 64 битным клиентом.

Подготовка среды

Для начала, нужно установить 1 библиотеку в Windows 2008. Без нее установка 32-х битного клиента завершится ошибкой. При этом 64 битному клиенту эта библиотека не требуется.

hosts

Отредактируйте файл hosts, таким образом, чтобы не приходилось обращаться к серверу баз данных по его IP

Файл hosts нужно отредактировать, например в notepad запущенном от учетной записью с правами администратора.

Инсталляция Oracle Client

Вообще нужен только Oracle Call Interface. Но для удобства настройки и работы, лично я устанавливаю 3 компонента:

• Oracle Call Interface (OCI)
• Connection Manager
