• Why it’s important to keep the two separate because the dosdude1 patcher installs kext and files specifically for Mac’s customers Hackintos only need Graphics kexts and the Clover bootloader does the rest of the work.

NOTE: the only negative thing I can say about AMD/ATI cards is that by recording a video screen the system becomes slow and difficult to use but still usable. With the GeForce and the HD 3000 I do not have this kind of problem and for my part I think that the HD 3000 is the most fluid and fast of the three video cards

In conclusion after having had time to do some tests I conclude that AMD/ATI cards work at almost 60% of their full capacity so the full QE/CI is not applied with this patch. Intel HD 3000 and Old GeForce works great

Nouveau VIDEO 1 et 2

NOTE: la seule chose négative que je puisse dire à propos des cartes AMD / ATI est qu’en enregistrant un écran vidéo, le système devient lent et difficile à utiliser mais toujours utilisable. Avec la GeForce et la HD 3000 je n’ai pas ce genre de problème et pour ma part je pense que la HD 3000 est la plus fluide et la plus rapide des trois cartes graphiques

En conclusion, après avoir eu le temps de faire quelques tests, je conclus que les cartes AMD / ATI fonctionnent à près de 60% de leur pleine capacité donc le QE / CI complet n’est pas appliqué avec ce patch. Intel HD 3000 et Old GeForce fonctionnent très bien

How to update Catalina​

Updating Catalina has become quite a ride since Apple stopped delivering full installers in summer 2020. Without additional tools the software update process is broken, too. So there is no direct way to apply security updates.

You need to use tools provided by @jackluke from GitHub or this post and to follow this documentation.

Apple offers official updates and during development and test phase so called beta versions. You can switch between the normal seed and the developer seed offering beta versions of updates using this Apple tool .

Fair warning: Please do not jump onto each available beta version unless you have a stable fall back to boot from. All this is entirely unsupported.

Installation​

macOS Catalina Patcher​

To install on your machine, you can download and run @dosdude1’s macOS Catalina Patcher application, which will let you download a copy of the latest installer app from Apple and create a bootable installer drive for use on unsupported Macs. It contains all the patches necessary to achieve the hardware support listed above. The installation guide can be found here and an installation guide video here.

MacOS patcher (discontinued)​

More advanced users may consider using macOS Patcher, which is a command line-based tool that provides the same hardware support, while also adding support for MacBook4,1 systems. Please note that this project is no longer supported by the developer.

APFS ROM Patcher​

Warning: This tool could irreversibly brick your EFI chip. Please exercise caution with machines that have multiple EEPROM definitions. Relevant information can be found here and here. The APFS ROM patcher can be found here. Use the password apfs to decrypt the ZIP.

AMD/ATI Radeon HD 5xxx and 6xxx series graphics acceleration:

Currently, it is not possible to achieve full graphics acceleration under Catalina on any machines that use a Radeon HD 5xxx or 6xxx series GPU. If you have a machine with one of these GPUs installed, I’d advise upgrading it if possible (can be done in 2010/2011 iMacs, iMac11,x-12,x), disabling the dedicated GPU if using a 2011 15″ or 17″ MacBook Pro (MacBookPro8,2/8,3, instructions to do so can be found here), or not installing Catalina. Running Catalina without full graphics acceleration will result in extremely poor system performance.

High Sierra Nvidia WebDriver Loaded on Catalina Beta (No Acceleration)

I have to say I am a complete noob so this is more likely a fluke.
I will try to include as many details as possible so the community can replicate.
I suspected this method would work on Mojave as well (not yet tried)

So I was installing mackintosh the first time today, started with High Sierra and the NVIDIA Drivers, huge success.

I wanna get Catalina since the apple apps aren’t backward compatible (e.g. notes, reminders), but I read about the lack of Catalina GTX 1080 support and I decided to use the iGPU until the driver comes.

I first edited the .config file, then set the MOBO to IGFX (with multiple monitor support). iGPU worked but there were glitches here and there so I did some finetuning.

Meanwhile I came across this post (problem 5) and changed it to my Mojave build number anyway.

The GTX1080 was still attached to the MOBO and I thought what if I connect one of the monitors to it? (I have two) AND IT WORKED.
System Report shows 2 GPU simultaneously (iGPU and dGPU). For some reason using launchpad will log me out, I suspect the cache limi on the iGPU so I plugged both monitors to the GTX1080 and it works perfectly (system preferences shows 3 monitors connected, which was weird)

I rebooted the device (both monitors on GTX) and as expected, it did not work, since MOBO was set to IGFX. Rebooting into BIOS and changing setting solved the problem.
