Pcie to high speed serial port driver windows 10

PCI Serial port driver.

My PC couldn’t find PCI Serial port driver .

I tried to update driver from the internet but it states Windows couldn’t find the driver software for your device.

I am looking for some help and it would be really appreciated

If your computer came with a serial port built into it (pretty rare these days), go to the support site of your computer’s manufacturer, enter the identifying information about your specific model (probably the serial number), and look for the driver for the serial port.

If you have difficulty doing the above, please provide the make and model of your computer (and its serial number).

If you installed an add-on PCI card for the serial port, what is the make and model of that PCI card?

Otherwise, right-click on that entry in Device Manager and select the «Details» tab.

Select «Hardware Ids» in the drop-down list under «Property»

Copy the first line in the «Values» box and paste into a Google search.

If you get no hits when searching for the entire first line, search only for the VEN/DEV information.

Using the screenshot below as an example:

Search for PCI\VEN_14F1&DEV_10B4&SUBSYS_9300141D&REV_89

If no hits, search for PCI\VEN_14F1&DEV_10B4

Alternatively, you can use one of these PCI VEN/DEV databases:

Once you know the manufacturer and model of the serial port, you should be able to find the driver for it. If at all possible, avoid third-party driver download sites. Look for the website of the device manufacturer.

Hi LemP @ AliNaqi

To Ali, give it a try as to what LemP has suggested.

Do a search as LemP has outlined.

Some of my findings on this issue.

I have found the same issues with some old computers with On-board / Integrated Serial Ports.

Even searching for the VEN/DEV databases is a hit or miss affair.

Some of my findings. lets say one finds the corresponding match but it wont install.

Most if not many times it seems that this relates to a much Newer Operating System being installed ( win 7/8.1/10 ) that no longer uses this and no longer supports it.

I could be wrong, . but i believe these PCI Serial Ports pre-date the era of Vista going back to the old Serial Port Printers and Devices.

Not having it wont or should not affect ones computer unless one is trying to attach and run one of these older devices.

It may be more of a annoyance factor as it shows up with the Exclamation Mark beside it in the Device Manager.

As with one of my decade old systems all i could do was Disable it as any of the Drivers that i located would not work or even install on some Windows 7 OS`s or Win 10.

Any ideas are welcome as it is a issue that has caught me out at times as well.

Two of my older systems i have just Disabled the PCI Serial Port in Device Manager as they did not have a switch in the BIOS in relation to PCI Serial Port to be able to turn off / disable.

Thanks for your feedback.

I once tried to go to the manufacturer’s website and talked to a robot agent. It asked me for the serial number. It actually showed me my same PC, HP dc7700 CMT base unit. I went down for software and drivers, but it gave few of the softwares like BIOS extension and audio device driver. I mentioned It didn’t solved my problem and website asked me to download some kind of HP agent framework or something that will automatically check devices and install the necessary drivers. I tried to install that software but It said your operating system is not supported, setup will now exit. I think it was because of my CPU’s model. Also your three website links didn’t helped; one says 404 error, another says no device found 🙁 .

There is sticker label which states «Designed for windows XP; Windows Vista Capable» as my PC have Windows 7 installed and it actually runs good. My PC also had another missing driver of PCI simple communication controller but I fixed it by watching a video on youtube and download Intel(R) software management host or something and installed the driver manually by device manager.

I once downloaded the drivers from an alternative local website named as «Driverscape». I first thought it was a Microsoft website because it had Microsoft icon. Anyhow I downloaded the drivers for PCI Serial Port. So it went something like this :-

The drivers were like this ;

So I manually went to device manager and tried to install the drivers from .inf* files ;

So there were some digitally signed in drivers or whatever that means and I tried to install the drivers from them. I one by one tried every driver but none of them worked as it displayed the driver for this device is invalid or something. Until one driver worked which is above on the picture named as MosChip PCI Multi-IO Controller.

After the installation the device manager displayed the device like this :-

I doubt that this isn’t the exact driver I was looking for as I tried to update driver automatically and it displayed like this. (Sorry if the images are not big enough to read).

So, was it right of me to install the drivers from the internet from a local website or it will harm my computer somehow. Or I should uninstall the driver.

Hello! I used DBAN to wipe hard drive for fresh reinstallation of Windows 10. It recognized all other drivers except the PCI Serial Port. Desktop model is VW202ET.

How do I go from here? Not sure of the name for the driver though unless I’m required to open up the computer, then I’ll do that if need be. Thanks!

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

I wish I had good news for you — but I don’t .

HP does not provide Win10 drivers for your model PC, so basically, you should NOT have forced an installation of Win10 because HP does not have the drivers needed to ensure full operation of all the hardware that came with your PC.

Your best option is to return your PC to its original OS version, that way, you will be able to continue to use all its features.

Many hardware names are usually named after the chip model, and each chip model has its own dedicated driver, so as long as you know the chip model used by the hardware, you can find the right driver. For example, if your graphics card is named: «AMD Radeon RX 580», while actually the core chip model used is: «Radeon RX 580», then enter «Radeon RX 580» or «RX 580» to find the driver.

If you have a laptop or an all-in-one PC, you can also use the product name to search, and then go to the download page which has all the drivers for this machine (including: graphics card, network card, sound card, etc.). For example, if your laptop product name is: «Dell A6-9220e Inspiron Flagship», then type «Dell A6-9220e» to find all the drivers for this laptop.

1. Enter a keyword in the input box and click the «Search» button

2. In the query results, find the driver file you need, and click the download button

• Can’t find the required driver files?
• Don’t know how to find driver files?
• Unable to download driver files due to unstable network?
You can try using this driver file finder. The method of use is very simple. The program will automatically list all the driver files available for your current system. You can install drivers for devices that do not have drivers installed, and you can also upgrade drivers to the latest driver version for devices that have already installed drivers. Click here to download the driver finder.
